It feels so good to be moving forward[emoji1] I'm being cautious with what I eat/drink but I'm doing well so far

It is a closed group. I just wanted to be a part of something a little smaller. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

I will have everything done close to the end of April so I'm looking at a surgery date in May! [emoji16][emoji16]

Great, thanks! So I've had one to many "last meals" in preparation for surgery.. you know, it's the last time you're going to savor it, so it's allowed. I've gained 12 lbs!
But, today I got clearance from the endocrinologist. Talked to my surgeon's office, they're compiling everything and will submit to insurance. Then they'll call me once it's approved. Definitely starting to feel real! I'm taking the time to really practice all of the changes (no carbonated drinks, no straws, chewing to applesauce consistency, etc) Good luck, and I'll let you know when I have a date confirmed!

Thankfully it looks like Friday is the day! I will have another echocardiogram on Friday and then they will make a final decision but the surgeon says he's happy however the anaesthetist will check it out further on the day. This is a roller coaster ride of emotions. I am desperate to start my new life and move on, and desperate to get rid of the vomiting and reflux from the band

My bypass op is scheduled for 7 April and at this stage the only people who know are my husband and a couple of friends. I haven't told my parents yet as they were a little negative about the idea when i told them I was considering it. I am nervous and excited all at the same time!

Pepsi Max was my addiction! I have swapped diet coke/pepsi max for soda Water or sparkling Water - this gives me the fizzy drink without all the other inclusions!

I wasn't sure which surgery I wanted when I first started this journey. After attending the informational session I was 100% sure I wasn't going to get the Lap Band (high rate of returned weight gain, poor long term loss).
After talking with my surgeon I decided on gastric bypass. Primarily because everything is still there and can be reconnected to God's original configuration if need be. Once you lose 85% of your stomach...it's gone.
Additionally, I had done research on my own and found some great benefits of GB over Sleeve gastrectomy.
    1. GB has been shown to restore normal ghrelin hormone regulation.
    2. GB patients lost more belly fat and had improved insulin secretion rates compared to SG.
