  1. I had a drink about 2 1/2 -3 weeks after surgery.....but this was only 1 drink sipped over an hour or so. I think you would be fine with a glass of wine. Enjoy!
  2. I drink coffee most days...my nutritionist says it is ok.
  3. This is why I did not tell anyone about my surgery. Last night I was at a party and my SIL came up to me and said "OH my gosh, what is on you face???!!!!"" and went into how there was something pink above my eyebrows and what is it, etc. I felt like I was some sort of ugly monster. Granted she is 25 and very immature, she is a teacher and should know how to act by now. Looking in a mirror a short time later, there was NOTHING on my face and I was just baffled and still can't stop thinking about how she wants me to feel BAD about myself. Can you imagine if I would had told her and the rest of my in-laws about my lap-band?????
  4. Linda, It was just a personal preference to not tell anyone. I have a a very judgmental family and in-laws so it is best for me to not have to deal with them in regards to this. Of course my PCP referred me for the surgery so he knows. I also told a nurse pract. at my OBGYN's office and she replied with "are you sure you want to do that?" My reply was simply "YES" and I left it at that. Her voice sounded doubtful and so I did not want to discuss it with her. Since then I have told my neighbor who had GB with my surgeon and I know I can count on her for support and to trust her to not tell anyone. It has worked out very good for me, there is no need for anyone else to know about a medical decision that I made to better my health. Best wishes.
  5. That is interesting, I never looked at it that way. However, I don't see why one or two drinks at a time would be harmful.
  6. Same here.....I am supposed to be on all mushies but I have had small pieces of chicken and some other forbidden foods lately. I scare myself sometimes thinking about what I know I could possibly eat. In return, my weight loss has slowed down. I know I just need to be patient and wait for the fill but it's so hard because I am feeling like a normal person again. My husband watches to make sure I am only eating mushies. I am definitely in "bandster hell.":cursing:
  7. Heading out to the store to buy everything I need to make this.....I can hardly wait. Thanks Georgia girl!!!!
  8. I just read through this thread and I'm in the same position. I am starving and wanting some real food and I need my fill to come quickly. I go on 4/22 for the first fill. I lost a lot of weight at first, but it has slowed down since I can tolerate just about anything I eat. I'm being careful and trying to stick to mushies, but some days I need a piece of chicken or something to get by. I have 3 weeks to go until my fill...I hope it goes fast!
  9. Yes, I think I need to go "cream soup" shopping in the morning!
  10. I am drinkng the Strawberry Lemonade right now during my full liquid stage and I am loving it! I am using the powder mix w/ bottled H2O. I like it so much better than Crystal Light, plus you get the added protein!
  11. I would like a cook book too! Please let me know how I can help out with this effort.
  12. I am on full liquids. I am doing yogurt smoothies, yougurt, slimfast, sugar-free pudding....and that's about it. I thought I read about someone doing really liquidy mashed potatoes to help get through this stage. I guess I am getting bored and hungry and need suggestions. Thanks!
  13. Can I have these? How creamy do they need to be? Thanks...
  14. I am venturing out to work tomorrow for a meeting that is 1 hour long. That is about all I think I can handle. I actually work part time as a researcher and can make my own hours. I am basically a SAHM with 2 boys. I don't think I could go to work for a full day tomorrow...I would type up the sub plans and give yourself a rest! Also I was told no bra with underwire for a while...I am wearing a very stretchy & cozy sports bra, my one incision is right on my bra line...ouch!
  15. enjoylife: I completey understand what you are going through. It is very hard to go at this alone or with very little help. I am glad that you found my thread because now I can return the favor to you. I will mark you on my calendar for the 24th, and I will keep you in my prayers. On the day of my surgery it helped me to know I had support from those that responded to this thread. I was so nervous in the pre-op room on Friday that I was actually in tears. I am very emotional anyway but I kept thinking:" what am I doing to myself." Well I was reassured by people on this forum that things would be ok, and they were right. The band is very safe and the risks are minimal. You will do fine. I have a 6 year old and he was very helpful to me these past 2 days after surgery. Your 5 year old will be the same,I'm sure, and you will recover very quickly like I am. I am feeling better by the hour...it's great! My prayers are with you....take care.
  16. Hi Wisshi, I can say that I'm not really in too much pain. Still taking my pain meds since I have a whole bottle full, might as well. I am starting to feel a litlle more human too! I felt like my whole world was upside down yesterday but getting better today. I hope your pain gets better! Do you start full liquids tomorrow like me? LOL...never thought I would be looking forward to Slimfast & yogurt so much! Best wishes...
  17. I was banded on Friday also! It sounds like what everone is saying is pretty normal. I am suprised about your fill though...wow! Same here food commercials keep coming on, food network, etc. I'm not even hungry it's just seeing the food that gets me down.Take care everyone & good luck!
  18. Hello everyone, I am home and banded....my surgery was on Friday! I feel pretty good and am trying to stay positive about transitioning into this new lifestyle. It's hard to picuture the end result when I just came home from the hospital and I'm drinking broth and crystal light! I hope I made the right decision. Now I know what people were talking about with "saying goodbye to your best friend- food." I know that the best is yet to come, but....any words of wisdom are appreciated! Thanks!
  19. Well, I made it! I am officially banded. I did still have a stuffy nose and post-nasal drip during surgery and they said they gave me something to dry me up. I think the Zicam really worked to help lessen my cold....tastes horrible but works. Thanks for the replies to help me get better before surgery!
  20. Thank you all for all of your support. It was defintely hard with only my husband supporting me for this so I am very grateful that I have all of you saying a little prayer for me on Friday! I am starting to feel better and I am hoping I transition well into my new lifestyle. Yesterday when my husband and kids were having dinner I was wondering what I did to myself but I am staying positive and remembering that this will all be worth it. Thank you!
  21. I took it a few years ago after my PCP prescribed it to help me loose weight. I had energy and was able to exercise a lot....then I realized that it had caused insomnia and high blood pressure....so I stopped taking it. My insomnia lead to depression that I am still stuggling with. I lost about 20 pounds but gained it all back and more due to the depression. I would be careful and let your body decide for you, if it doesn't feel right let your doctor know. I realize now that there will never be a pill that will acheive long term weight loss.
  22. Wishing everyone the best tomorrow!:grouphug::eek:
  23. Chica, I found your thread here like you said. My nose is stuffy but no sore throat and I will be sure to mention this to the doctors. I have some Afrin...so maybe I'll use some today and then let them give me some tomorrow. Thanks a lot!
  24. Thanks for all of the great suggestions! I am feeling a good deal better today and I think that I will be ok for tomorrow. I took some airborne yesterday and vitamin c...that's all I had in the house (i know airborne is now said to be a scam). I drank tons of water and green tea. Today I went out and bought the Zicam as Bandme08 suggested. I think if I get some rest today I will be fine. I love this forum....always someone here to help out! Thanks a lot and I'll see you in bandland tomorrow!
  25. I called and they said that if I am not 100% better by tomorrow..I will be cancelled.:huh2: I will be crushed if I am cancelled at this point..I have planned this out to fall right before my spring break from graduate school. Anyone have any good cold remedies??:cool2::sad:
