Will I have a lot of gas forever?
I have been reading a lot about gas after the lap-band. I am not a typically gassy person right now and I am wondering how bad the gas will be? Do you just have gas right after surgery or will I have a lot of gas all of time after being banded? Have you had gas issues out in public after banding? Just curious....:blushing:

Post-op how long until you could go out....
Trying to get a general idea of how many days I will be in the house recovering. So I am wonderng how long it took you until you ventured out of the house post-op. Of course my surgery is the first priority but I am a busy gal and I hope to get back into a normal routine asap. I'm hoping my age is on my side on this one!

Very Nervous
Dear needtoloose, We are in the same boat. I am 27 and my surgery is on Friday the 14th. I am worried that I will not be able to have some of the foods I love, but then again all of the foods I love are foods that are bad for me and will only hurt me in the long run. Honestly, I am also worried that at my age I won't be able to have a few drinks with my friends anymore. But then I think about that and the reason why I have been avoiding going out with my friends lately is my weight. Just think how good you will feel this summer when you are able to buy some nice new clothes and feel good about yourself. If is wasn't for the band you wouldn't have that opportunity. Good luck tomorrow & just think about how you will look and feel this time next year!

I Miss Being 'Normal'...Am I alone in this?
Not sure about anyone else, but I am a little worried about my surgery now. I have no idea what my life will be like in one year but I would be devasted if I am regretful. Hopefully you will find that you need less resrtiction and your outlook will change.

Has anyone been denied BMI 40 with no co-morbities?
I have BCBS of Illinois. My BMI was 39 at the time of approval and no co-morbidity. I do have asthma, I'm not sure if that is taken into consideration. I was worried that I would not get approved but I did! Good luck!

Pre-banding Feed Frenzy....
I am doing the same thing...it is definietly the last supper syndrome....it's terrible! I have gained at least 10 pounds in about 2 months . My surgery is in 5 days on Friday the 14th. I have been eating cheesecake, bagels, we went out to a big dinner the other night, a lot of snadwiches...it has been ridiculous. My surgeon does not require a pre-op diet, but I almost wish he did. I am trying to calm down now for the next 5 days...I am looking forward to loosing but can't beleive that I have let myself eat this way in the last several months.

Prayers needed
Hello everyone, I have never posted on this thread before but thought I could come here for some help. I am being banded on March 14th, 2008. I have decided to only share this with my husband. Normally, I would have the prayers of family and friends going into surgery that day, but I don't this time so I am here to ask for some prayers. I have 2 little boys and I am basically doing this for them, but I sometime feel like what if something happens and I made a huge mistake? So I am asking you to please say a prayer for me for my surgery. Thank you!

March 14th!
I am being banded at Pennsylvania Hospital, Philadelphia. I still have to go on Tuesday for a chest x-ray and 1 more support group meeting. Then the real countdown will begin. I am not required to do a pre-op diet, but have been trying to watch what I eat. I've been eating lot of yogurt & soup, but they don't fill me up too much. That's where the band will come in I guess! Good luck to all of the March 14th banders! Best of luck!

Found out what "as tolerated" means!
Thanks for postig this. I have my surgery on 3/14, 1 month after you. It is good that I read this now and did not have to find that out the hard way like you did. That is a good leasson to be learned. Hope you are doing better!

Did you tell people about your band???
The only person that knows about my upcoming surgery is my husband. We both decided that this was a medical decsion that is private and does not need to be under the microscope of others. I sometimes feel bad not telling my parents & sister, but I feel like I don't want any negative opinions changing my mind before surgery. Unless you are really educated on the lap-band, then you have no idea. I trust myself that I am educated enough to make my own decision. I may tell them down the road someday but right now I do not want any negative vibes. I tend to be more of a private person anyway so this is the best decision for me. Good luck!

A really good scale?
I would like to buy a really good scale that will be very accurate in telling me my weight as I go through my lap band journey. The scale I have now does not match my doctor's scale and that really bothers me. I would like to be able to accurately track my weight loss. Anyone have a suggestion and I would also like to know where you bought it. Thank you!
