SEX
Probably 10 days? Spent the first 5 at my sisters recovering since it was spring break and my kids were out of town and hubby at work. But HELLO by three weeks out? Your hormones go NUTS and there is no stopping them- or you. Then, as the weight comes off, even better because movement, etc, allows for more intimate intimacy, which, of course, rocks. Definitely not buyers remorse there with the surgery Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

Reassurance, thoughts?
Thanks, @@kimini I know there are tons of people here who will disagree or flame me, but premiere Protein is not a good first choice. The protein blend they use lists milk protein concentrate as its first ingredient. Then Calcium caseinate and THEN whey protein concentrate. I mean, what EXACTLY are they saying milk protein concentrate is? And they don't say what percentage each of the three are- I want to KNOW exactly what I'm putting in my body- and first choice is WHEY PROTEIN ISOLATE for maximum fast absorbing protein and the second one I want is casein protein for a longer lasting absorption. These companies that have their own proprietary "blends" can keep them in my opinion. Premier Protein RTD is far down my list of acceptable. Bring in the firing squad. Interesting, well cited article on protein absorption
Gastric juices break down the Protein so that when they enter your intestines, they can be absorbed. Couple of things to consider- Bypass reroutes the gastric juices as well, so that it is also happening at the Y created of the small intestines ( duodenum). So, we are breaking things down there, as well. The actual protein is absorbed and put to use in the jejunum - the second part of the small intestine. This area is untouched during bypass surgery. The ileum is the last part of the small intestine, which then feeds into the large intestine. It primarily absorbs things like Vit B12, bile salts, etc. and if memory serves, the ileum also absorbs fatty acids. So- to your point- we do absorb and use the amino acids that are broken down from the proteins- and we ALL recall from basic HS biology that amino acids are the "building blocks" of our body. Protein shots?
Yuck. Yuck. No. They are indigestible irrelevant Proteins. They need all kinds of additives in them to even TRY to be useful, and none of them do. They are typically collagen Protein which is no where near anything you can use. From what I've seen, the only one that has any place in our lives is called "Yes Whey". It is a blend of whey Protein and Whey Protein Isolate. There may be newer ones I'm unaware of that are nutritionally sound, and I'm sure others will pipe in of so. Reassurance, thoughts?
Ensure? Ensure Enlive? This is the nutrition info for Enlive That is a HUGE amount of carbs/sugar for a Protein shake, as well as calories. If you are using REGULAR ensure, it's worse- because of the low protein count-- You need to be certain that - you are choosing a Protein Drink that has enough GOOD usable protein in it- at LEAST 20-25 G protein per serving - the carbohydrates in it are usable and not sabotaging your caloric intake- your sugars, under the carb section, should be LOW - your drink is not highly caloric - mine are typically no higher than 170-200 calories. "Food" for thought. I can't imagine any NUT allowing for Ensure If you are not vegan/vegetarian then your primary source of protein- and the FIRST ingredient should be whey PROTEIN ISOLATE Not whey blends, or protein blends There are others that are good too, but start with that. powders?utm_source=BariatricPal&utm_medium=Affiliate&utm_campaign=CommentLink" target="_ad" data-id="1" >unjury, Bariatric fusion, Jay Robb, Syntrax. There are more, but that's a place to start. Good luck Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

Been Down Lately
You may consider re-visiting your Nutritionist and surgeon. They may give you insight. Also, if the stall is that long, an exercise physiologist. How much we consume and how much we expend via physical activity need to be balanced. You can't starve it off yourself. Your body needs fuel- or it will shut down the metabolism to protect itself. Many a person has gone from overweight to obese by thinking starvation is key. Get intervention before it's out of control. Good luck, and you've got this! Your progress is nothing to be ashamed of!!! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

Beating yourself up nutritionally speaking
Again, hijacking my own thread... Completely off "all" topics.. Exciting news-- my daughters choir-she is in HS- was just asked to take part in the Presidential Inauguration festivities. What is really cool- and even though I can't stand her- is if Hilary is elected, they will likely have an even larger role since she attended the same HS and is from our home town... I may not like the woman or her politics, but for the kids- what an amazing experience. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

Drinking liquids AFTER a protein shake
Wondering if anyone has been advised on this- Should you refrain from drinking anything 30 minutes AFTER your Protein replacement, just like when you eat "food" ( purée, mushy, solids)? Interested in hearing responses. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

Which blender should I get?
I love my "THAT" kind too! Yep. Agreed. I already had a Ninja- and used it a bit in the beginning for Bariatric purposes, but now it's just for regular use when I'm cooking A good old shaker/blender bottle with the mixer thing that looks like a jack is perfect for shakes- doesn't make too much air, easy to clean and take on the go. Mine has a bottom part that unscrews and holds the Protein powder dry until I need it. Easy Peezy. Foamy Protein shakes suck lol Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
