  2. I'm PRETTY certain you called her a jerk... English being my first language and all... And I read the entirety of the thread prior to posting. Now, what we CAN discuss going forward is grammar and its proper usage. Anyone? Anyone? Beuhler? Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

  4. Whoa there Nellie !!!! The reason people who have been around a long time get frustrated is because of people like you. How dare you call her a jerk? Do you know her???.... have you had other interactions with her???? Is she the next-door neighbor whose barking dog keeps you awake at night? There is going to come a day when you have a real problem and a person such as her or myself or any other people who have followed the program the way it's supposed to be done and have been successful are going to be the people you need to direct the questions to. What are you going to do when you have alienated every single one of us? I'd suggest kindly at this point that you back off of name calling and vitriol, read and learn. You'd be much better for it. Seriously? Does everyone exercise?

No one can give you a firm number... Couple reasons .. Every Nut and Dr have different guidelines Which surgery did you have? My NUT basically said she wasn't giving me a number...that if I followed plan, ate the prescribed amount ( 4oz- no more) that it all works out. She basically said calorie counting doesn't come into play until much further down the road. Me being me, I needed a number. So I averaged out what my meals totaled and shakes, and it was sitting squarely at 800 calories. Others might disagree, and discuss setting your metabolic needs too low which all makes sense. But at 7 months I'm almost at goal, have not stalled and feel great. Now that I'm getting closer to the brass ring, loss has definitely tapered. We shall see what the next few months bring... And right around that point I'll be seeing my team for the one year check up. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  7. Oh goodness. It's not a stall. Your body body is still recovering from surgery and is gearing up to do what it is now supposed to do. TRUE Stalls last a min of three weeks. Anything else is just your body making necessary adjustments. Stalls when working this program properly don't occur until months out. Notice I say properly. Following plan, moving around and exercising. Unless you have some underlying issues like @@RJC5197 mentioned. I have what could be considered ZERO adrenal function. My adrenal glands have been blown out by 9 years of high dose prednisone. My metabolism is screwed. And guess what? 7 months out I've gone from surgery date 272 to 156. Give yourself a break and don't fall prey to old thinking habits. You're on a whole new path now... Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  8. Ok. I'm on a new iPad so forgive me for not multi quoting... still trying to get used to this sucker. @@Hammer_Down I understand what you are saying. Perhaps my issue is that I didn't come to wls because of a food addiction. Mine was medication induced as well as a debilitating illness that left me unable to do anything physical... and I'm talking simple things like walking across the room without aides or excruciating pain... did I like less than healthy foodstuff occasionally? Sure! But it was never a mainstay in my diet. What I'm saying is that my perspective is likely skewed from many others here. The game plan is the same though...bypass gave me back my life and there is NO WAY I'm blowing this!!!! @@KristenLe I truly believe that it will be necessary for early post op's to just wave the white flag in the beginning and use whatever one needs to get through even if it goes against core beliefs on natural products etc. Those things can be tossed once they're able to eat a more "normal" bariatric-friendly diet. Kind of a "means to an end" mentality. @@Butterflywarrior I didn't say it was good! Lmao But I use it... like if I have an occasional taste for a sweet tea (rare) I'll toss in a few leaves with some other herbs like peppermint and kind of muddle it into the drink. I think I grow it to make myself feel better lol. Like I'm making an ATTEMPT at a healthy sweetener alternative... then I reach for the Splenda Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    No added sugar cordial ?

Oh poop I agree with being careful about not falling prey to no sugar added. It's a tricky thing to say the least. Once you're far enough out, if you want a cocktail then have one. Make sure it has low glycemic impact is all. It's fine to warn cautionary on addiction switches but not everyone is going down that road.... there are plenty, likely most, who will not fall victim to this. There are plenty of us here who can enjoy an occasional alcoholic beverage without needing to concurrently enroll in detox and AA programs. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    Compulsive weighing

Congrats to YOU!! My advice? Do whateverthehell you want with that scale!!!! Use it....don't...kick it to the curb....give it a place of honor in your home... All you need to do is be true to you, work the program and enjoy the results as you see fit. I used to weigh daily. Mornings, naked, after the bathroom lol My weight loss slowed down over the last couple of weeks as I'm nearing goal, so I've backed off to every few days so I don't fall victim to thinking I'm stalling. What I'm watching for now is no movement or a few ounces down. As long as it isn't upward. I'm not ready for maintenance yet mentally. At 7 months out, I still see value in more loss, but if it's only 3-4 pounds a month for a few more months, that's fine. I'll never NOT weigh... That's sticking your head in the sand. 14. Good for you recognizing your self worth and worth to others IN PERSPECTIVE. There is NO REASON- unless you're planning on being the WLS poster child, that one needs to sing this from the rooftops. You are a wonderful, caring person, and how it shines through right here---I can only imagine it does so 10fold in real life ❤️ Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  15. @@Hammer_Down Each bariatric patient, WLS patient, comes to this point-surgery- in a different ship. I applaud your dedication to your new life style, and agree that people much older than us are not going to recognize many of the Frankenfoods out there. That said, enjoying something sweet or not 100% "whole food" is perfectly fine, if- IF- it doesn't act as a gateway. Let us not forget that the cocaine from cocoa plants provided us with the ability to anesthetize people prior to surgical and dental procedures, and has since morphed into lidocaine, marcaine, prilocaine... And I KNOW there are few people who would have lacerations repaired or a tooth worked on without the benefits of those injections, lol!!! Stevia- I grow it along with the rest of my herbs. Do i LOVE it? Not really. Actually, I'm fine with aspartame or sucralose. Not a fan of monk fruit. Point is- we need to find what works for us as individuals and proceed accordingly to achieve our ultimate goals. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    Alcohol

I drink. Vodka and soda, splash of diet cranberry May have two or three tonight as my Cubs go to take the World Series. Hell. I may have 3-4 if they win. Alcohol causes a quick buzz, and it's gone within 20 min. No other effects. I'm 7 mos post op. Had my first drink around 5.5-6 mos. one a week maybe? During this WS ru. Being out, have had several others a week lol No beer, only vodka. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

I'm having a couple pieces of Jarlesberg as a snack as we speak. My very favorite cheese. There is one called a Derby SagePerfect fall cheese. Try and locate it and then don't kill me for the new addiction lol Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App *Getting coat on running to the store*Have to tell you, cheese has been an addiction for the last several years. Living in Chicago, we get a lot of cool artisanal ones from Wisconsin. That derby sage tastes like Thanksgiving to me. It's a firm white with sage marbled all through it. Love this one white cheddar with cranberries I find on occasion. Then, another hard white called Prairie Breeze. Has a sharp/sour profile and is best shaved thin and enjoyed. What's fun but I can no longer enjoy are the new fruit jams they make for cheese and fruit pairings. Blueberry with Lavendar to go with a white sharp cheese, the ever wonderful fig spreads, look...
