    Down how many dress sizes

Jesus Mary and Joseph Wicked- how amazing!!!! I can't even tell you were the same person. Congrats on all Of your hard work!!! Just thought of this- never in my wildest dreams did I ever think I would say "Jesus Mary and Joseph " and wicked in the same breath
  2. I am the main cook in the house and I think maybe that may be the case, but I cook a lot before surgery and froze a lot of food for him and our kids on top of that he can cook and has done is more than once. I think it was really just a miss understanding and he just didn't think. Lol. Then he's just a typical guy While I was in the hospital and immediately after two things happened- my 15yo daughter went to France for spring break with her French club and my 18 yo had his wisdom teeth out. My hubby was in charge of getting them where they needed to be. My daughter- he dropped off at the airport to her group and immediately left. My son he took to the oral surgeon, checked him in at the desk and left to run errands saying see you in a bit. As a mom, I'd have seen her pass through security and then leave and waited for them to take my son back before I sat down with a magazine in the waiting room. They have different brain connections these husbands!!!

  4. Not that you need another take on this but- being 5 days post op perhaps if you were the main "cook" in the family this is just his way of getting a meal? I agree that you have a hard time watching it- totally get it. Pre op I would make dinner for my family, put it on the table and go for a walk while they ate if I was having a hard time. Basically I'd just say " I can't be around the food- see you in a few".

    hungry...

Once on full liquids - per my. NUT- I was able to add puddings, yogurt and hot cereals. I mix 1/4 c of Greek yogurt with 1/4 c of cream of wheat cereal. This combo really seems to do the trick. As an aside, I left the " regular' Cream of Wheat and moved to the baby wheat cereal. It's much easier to make a small batch with and a smoother consistency.
  6. Does your doc want you on your Vitamins yet? If so are you taking them? As for a home health aide- go for it! Personally I gave birth to three who are now teens and took care of me lol.

Surgery 3/23 and need a buddy!

My protein is going down faster when I double the scoop to the same amount of liquid, or, I add one scoop of a flavored protein and one scoop of unflavored. Only gets a bit thicker but by volume of liquid it's the same but way more protein. My am shake totals 48 g ( I use water) and I get the additional in with yogurt. My buddy here adds protein powder to her yogurt!

Left side pain 1 week out

Welcome!!! Hope you are able to get and give lots of helpful information!
  11. My daughter left for France the day after my surgery with her HS French club. While waiting for her arrival today, I was standing with parents whom I've known since she was in Kindergarten. They watched me ballon from 140 to 280. They've known my struggles with meds and having rheumatoid arthritis. The steroids, the pain, the chemo drugs to try and control it. A friend took one look at me today and said " Omg Lisa! You look wonderful. Amazing. Your face looks like the old you!" Ok. Well maybe it doesn't completely yet- but it's been 9 years! Lol. None know I had the surgery. But I will tell you- it felt SO DAMN GOOD to get that kind of welcome instead of the sad faces " how're you feeling these days" I'm so used to hearing. Yay gastric bypass!!! 15 lbs since surgery- 25 since starting!!!

Surgery 3/23 and need a buddy!

I'm finding that 12 days out I am able to keep everything down. I have zero issues with drinking. I mean zero. I can finish a cup of tea in the same amount of time as pre surgery. I'm not really feeling much by way of restriction at this point. The first week I did. This truly scares me. I've tried foods on the soft stage I shouldn't be able to eat yet without issue. ( just a couple of times[emoji4]) Found that if I chewed the heck out of it it went down, stayed down and no issues. Many of us have gone into surgery thinking "what of THIS doesn't work?". My ability to eat and drink so well so soon almost reaffirms that preop fear. I guess the best I can do for now is keep to my liquids, protein and serving sizes along with exercise. Time will tell.

    I'm so emotional!

Nope! Lol. There were three dental schools in Chicago way back then- I went to Northwestern University the went to University of Illinois about 5 years ahead of me! I did hugely apologize to him. He accepted, hugged me and said its ok. What a kid. I'm going to miss the heck out of him next fall. All of him but the anal retentive part lmao. Thanks for the words of encouragement too!!!
  14. Ok. I admit it. Right now I'm happy as a lark. 30 min ago not so much. I did the unthinkable and literal was screaming at the top of my lungs at my HS senior son while my younger son had a guest over. I mean I tore into the kid. And he's a really good kid. He had his wisdom teeth out Thursday and I've been caring for him since. He is a PIA when he is sick or down. Very very anal, type A kind of kid and normally I can deal with it. I practiced dentistry for 20 years. I think I know my stuff lol. But he has questioned me every step of the way since the surgery about meds, foods to eat, cleaning his mouth you name it. You'd think he'd flipping believe me!!! His gf also had hers out this week. I should say both her parents are dentists as well. But apparently they know better than I. Ginas mom had her do this, Ginas doctor told her that. Well. I lost it today. And I mean stark raving lunatic mad screaming. I need to apologize to him. Is this normal post surgery (10 days out)????

    Drinking with Meals?

My docs said drink up to the meal but wait 30 min til after. Pretty much as stated above. They told me it was de rig our previously for the 30 min on each side but has since been revised. And they are crazy strict with protocol.

    First time posting! Broth prep?

Sandy- I make "bone soup". Crazy name, but the idea is that you very slowly cook the crap out of bones lol. Seriously for like a day or two. Extracts anything and everything from the bones. So you can do chicken, beef. Anything with a bone. You use quite a few of them. It turns out extremely dense with taste. Tons of minerals and nutrients from the marrow. Search bone soup or bone broth. Good luck. As an aside- I didn't prep too much for myself- some broths/ mushroom soup. I did, however, cook an army's worth of meals for my hubby and three teens. Stock piled the freezer with almost a months worth. This was I could pop something into the oven without the need to actually cook. Or they could if I wasn't feeling well.
  17. Holy cow!! A few years ago my hubby ordered a pressure cooker. I was completely against it. I'd had a previous patient who experienced burns on over 80 % of his face and on his arms from one. Fast forward to today- couldn't live without it!. Ours is electric, no worries of explosions and the meals I can make for a family on the run are amazing and so fast and good! Can literally toss frozen chicken breasts, Beans, rice and extra veggies, seasoning and some broth in for thirty minutes and have a magnificent meal. And the pulled pork from it- wow! Put it in a bowl with some of the "juice-liquid" and use a hand mixer to "pull" it. Takes all of four minutes.

    Isopure ready-made protein drinks

Try Bariatric fusion too. You can order a sampler packet of single serves from them. 27g Protein each. Also- I know when I first started Vitamin Shoppe has tons of single serving packets of the different brands. The Syntrax nectar fuzzy navel is my fave from there. Mix it with orange crystal light yummy. But the Bariatric Fusion brand hands down is my ultimate fave. No whey taste at all even afterwards. Heck. Even the cup doesn't smell of you don't wash it right away!!

    Medication question

I've found it much easier to spread mine out through the day. At this point taking all at once like I used to do is near impossible.

    HIPPA Violation

You posted that you work within the same hospital system as the office where the fax came from. If you look at your HIPPA documentation there is a statement in there that there is a relaxing of HIPPA rules when "communicating within the same hospital systems, and their representatives." Was there some mistakes made? Yup.--on both sides. In this day and age, no one should never fax personal information that you want to keep confidential--unless you KNOW that the fax is going to a PRIVATE fax machine/computer. Once again, I have to question the reasoning of "hiding" one's bariatric surgery?? Are you ashamed of having it?? --afraid of what others with think?? Does it really matter? Aren't we all supposed to be having WLS for OURSELVES?? Especially those of us who work or have worked in the Healthcare field. I would hope that we would want to set an example.--to stand up proudly that we had the courage and determination to conquer our "disease demons". I find absolutely nothing to hide nor be ashamed of by having WLS. Once we try to hide it, cover it up or lie about it, --that is when the spider web of telling two lies to cover up one lie and so on and so on. I don't know about you all, but my memory isn't good enough to remember what lie I told to whom. Getting back to the faxing fiasco: Lesson learned by all involved--I hope. You know. I've been sitting reading and rereading this trying to decide if I was going to comment. Sorry, but the ugly monster got the best of me. Valentina- I may be new-ish to this forum but why do you think it is ok to bash someone who was sickened at the thought of her personal information being spread around a large office? You say you aren't ashamed of having surgery- good for you. But do not project your opinions on others as though you are right and they are wrong. In fact- YOU are shaming anyone who does not subscribe to your belief that you need to tell everyone your business. Heck- I bet you have told tons of people who actually couldn't care less. Who we choose to share our surgery with is our own business and ours alone. That goes for you. Rent a billboard for Petes sake. But don't think for one moment it is ok to tear down those who think differently from you. As for Hippa laws- there has not been any "relaxing" since the days it was set in motion. Your facts are wrong. I've been a healthcare provider since 1985. Been there. Done that. When she is acting in the capacity of a patient, her rights are to be maintained just as any other non-employee patient.

    Alcohol

I'm not a drinker- haven't for 9 years due to the meds I take. But was wondering- DO people drink after having BS? I always thought it was a no-no.

    I need a buddy, plsssss x

@heidiboo. Two things- walk walk walk the hallways. The gas pain from surgery is the worse and that really helps. Take a good day or two to go away. Take your pain meds!! Second- the thirst after surgery is terrible and you won't get anything for a while. It will pass fast if you sleep!. God speed!!!
