  1. And do NOT expect it to "fall" off. For some it does, for others, like me, I see a jump in the numbers. I'll stay at one number sometimes for a week and then boom down 5-6 pounds. Bypass- 3/23. HW - 272. SW-262. Current - 233. That's 29 lbs in 6 weeks.

Day 8 of pre op liquids

Call your docs office. Mine, who is VERY strict- crazy so compared to what I've read here, allowed for raw non starchy veggies plain. Helps a ton!
  3. Now that I'm six weeks post op bypass, I've been given the go-ahead to progress onto different foods at my own pace. I'm CRAVING salads and raw veggies, but scared to death to try them! How some people look at cakes and pastries with food envy is how I feel about a simple tossed salad or a stalk of celery! NUT said to move from soft, cooked to a little crunch to raw as tolerated. What were your experiences? I realize there are some I won't be able to tolerate, but bring on your stories!

    Coffee

Valentina! Genius idea!!! That will hit the spot. I actually avoid my chocolate shakes- too heavy!- but this is a great way to use them! Thank you! It's like November here right now- damp and cold.

Love love love the bathing suit!!!! May I ask where you got it??? You're success is amazing!!!
  7. Congratulations on your journey so far! You're sure to be an inspiration to many out there! You look amazing but more importantly I'm sure you feel that way outside AND inside!!!
  8. You really do want more moisture in that lol. Consider adding cottage cheese and a teaspoon of mayo. So maybe 1/4 c tuna, 2 tbls egg, 2 tbls cottage cheese and a dollop of mayo to mix it up. And for goodness sakes- if you can, go ahead and add seasonings!!!

    Coffee

Didn't they give you a handbook? I was given a huge binder just for dietary needs, how to introduce new foods, when, what is or isn't allowed, and spreadsheets of typical Bariatric foods, nutritional values, amount to be consumed and on and on. It literally is my bible. As for coffee- we are allowed a cup of real coffee daily after 6 weeks.

    STUCK

Are you sleeve or bypass? I may be wrong here- but shouldn't we be keeping to 1/2 cup of food per meal? I'm bypass, maybe that is why? I'm 6 weeks out as well and can't eat more than that physically. I'm so scared of stretching that little pouch! Lol

    I found my cheekbones! Pics

It's like "BAM". There it is! Lol. I used to walk past mirrors and store fronts and not know who the reflection was because my face was so distorted. I'm sure many of you have had that horrid experience where you don't recognize yourself. And with this blessing of surgery and the tool it gives us, we get to actually "see" ourselves again! Not to mention all of the wonderful things about ourselves that aren't visible!!!
  15. Wait on tuna until you hit soft foods or you can grind it up. Also the chunk canned chicken is good. Mix them with a little cottage cheese and add seasonings to taste. Purée does not have to be bland unless you can't tolerate it. I'm a spice nut and have tons of small packets from spice stores of different blends. Makes the same dish taste different. Lol. You can purée anything really as long as you add moisture to it. Dry foods are harder to get down. So things like broth, cottage cheese, yogurt, etc go a long way to helping your cause. And be careful- things like refried Beans are wonderful but if you also have another "dry" item it may be too heavy on your new tummy. Also- one of my favorites was taking 1/4 C tuna or chicken, 2 tbl cooked spinach, 2 tbl cottage cheese and a tbl of mayo, blending it and warming it. Kind of like a tuna melt!
  16. You were brave to try that at work!!!!
  17. I was 3/23/16. Do you recall when you tried the cucumber?

    Having some trouble...

And post op is totally different! 1) you won't be as hungry 2) your shakes and Protein requirements the first few days are decreased as you're just healing 3) you will slowly, slowly convert using shakes as your main source of protein to the added extra to meet your goals as your foods will be doing the job 4). Did I mention you won't be anywhere near as hungry? I literally have begun setting my phone alarm to remind me to eat. Drinking isn't nor has it ever been an issue post op for me. Just remembering to eat meals is. What a problem!

    Having some trouble...

I was told 4 protein shakes a day, with broth, jello and non starchy raw veggies in between. Fourth one was hard to get in but keep plodding on. Any liquid- tea, water, etc counts to your water intake. However I never counted my protein shakes towards it. Yours may be different.
  20. In the dental/medical field, we tell you anything with sorbitol in it will give you the sorbie- squirts! Lol. Gross but true!

    Pre-Op Diet OMG! I'm Dying!

Omg you poor thing!!! I've posted this before- same thing. Told my doc there was NO WAY I could get through this. They allowed unlimited non starchy veggies (raw) to snack on. Worth a call. Green peppers, celery and I became best buds!!!

    Crying...

I'm Sitting in the dressing room at Dress Barn crying for what seems like no good reason. I'm seeing friends tonight -I haven't seen some for several years. They watched me balloon up over 6+ years. Over the last few years I just stopped seeing them. I've lost over 40 lbs since my surgery 6 weeks ago. My clothes are loose so I went to get a new outfit for tonight. From size 24 originally, I grabbed for the 22. Too big. Grabbed the 20. Too big. Grabbed the 18- fit but tons of room. 16 it is. Wtf. Why am I crying? My top sizes went from generous 3x to 1x and could likely go to an XL. I should be dancing in the aisles. Why the hell am I stuck in this dressing room crying???
  23. Hey guys doing liquids--- just bought Isopure ready to drink bottles to try. Refreshing flavors. Expensive as all get out though!!!

    Crying...

Thanks all. I literally called my mom to the store lol. Have to love moms! I ended up only buying one top and pants. Trying on more was too hard. I think you're right Cervidae. Cathartic. So much emotion built up in the years of being overweight and thinking I would never see my old self again. I was SURE ( probably like so many) I would be the one person this would not work for in the end. I've decided to indulge myself for the rest of the day- getting a mani pedi now followed by a massage. Want to look and feel my best tonight. The biggest shocker will come from my cousin. We grew up together, literally next door, went to school together, and now we still live very close and our kids have grown up together. I never told her about the surgery and purposefully haven't seen her since Christmas- which is when my journey started. She can be very judgmental. Never towards me, but usually I tell her to knock it off. This should be a fun one.... Thanks for allowing me to vent. I know you all know how important the support on this site is for each of us.
