Nothing to speed up weightloss like divorce

I can't comment on your marriage and his horrid actions- I've never been through it. However, reading all of these posts, wait a couple days to wallow- and I firmly agree you have every right to!- but RIGHT NOW do what some of the others mentioned- take every legal action you can to protect yourself! He is assuming you won't due to devastation and just having surgery. Think- " I am woman, hear me ROAR" at this moment. It will surprise the F*** out of him! Get mad right now!!! Fight for what is yours, including your dignity!!!! Time for crying comes when you've done that- and then we will all send you boxes and boxes of tissue![emoji4][emoji173]️
  3. Hey- who's starting the Botox and other injectables thread?? Let's include cool sculpting!!!
  4. I just posted on this topic the other day. See this- http://www.bariatric-surgery-source.com/soda-safety-after-weight-loss-surgery.html This from Mayo- foods to avoid, but can potentially re-add down the line- http://www.mayoclinic.org/tests-procedures/bariatric-surgery/in-depth/gastric-bypass-diet/art-20048472 This one says no carb beverages for 4 weeks post op- http://www.upperchesapeakebariatricsurgery.org/QandAsLifeAfterSurgery You will either be able to tolerate it or not. I love my Diet Coke. I'm not apologizing. If I thought it would actually harm me, I'd avoid it. As it stands, on the occasion- once or twice a week- I have it, I order a small and sip it over many hours, usually tossing half away.

    Excited, yet worried.

I am only 7 weeks out and have not dumped. But like you I FEAR it! Therefore I have kept away from anything that can cause it. The foaming? Omg. What a horrid freaky experience. I ate a meatball too fast. I was out when it started 20 min later. The chest pain, THICK saliva pouring into your mouth and then the foaming. I felt like a rabid dog! How long it lasted I can't recall. I went right home and into bed. Woke up a couple hours later ( snuck in a nice nap!) and was back to normal. I gave my tummy a break the next day and dos Clear liquids.

    Pain after surgery

There is pain immediately post op. That's to be expected. Most of it comes in the form of gas pain in your shoulder truth be told. You will use a pillow to protect your abdomen when you sneeze and cough. It can be uncomfortable at first to sleep on your side or tummy- use a pillow to support your belly for aide sleeping. It will feel tight in the abdominal area when you stand, but not painful, after the first day or two home. Walking is the biggest key to healing. And resting in -between. All that said, within the first few days, yes, you know you've had surgery, but it is not pain as much as discomfort. The incision areas are tender. But is it manageable? ABSOLUTELY! Is it horrid?? NO WAY. Is it worth it? A thousand times over!!! Seven weeks post op this week- I am at the gym daily, three times a week with a trainer, I'm gardening, walking, cleaning house, cooking foods I can't eat without issue, and just so damn happy I could kick myself for not doing this two years ago. Good luck!!!
  7. Gardening again!!! The best of the best at this moment. There will be others as time and days go by, but right now my front garden looks AMAZING! I hauled all the dirt, mulch, rocks, and god knows HOW many pots and flats of flowers myself!!!

    Loose skin with low bmi?

Wondering how long post surgery you had the tuck and honestly- how painful was it?!!
  9. Thanks! I've found your posts very well thought out on this forum. I completely agree with you. I find myself fortunate in a couple of instances- First, my nutritionist is extremely thorough, and for the rest of my life my Bariatric program allows me monthly access to her one on one. That is huge for me- I've run across others who see them pre op and then only a couple times post op. That's it. Anything beyond that is "not included". Secondly, where she gives "blanket" advise, she always takes it a step further to tailor it to me. I'm sure she does this for all her people. She weighs strengths and weaknesses and adjusts accordingly. Case in point- during preop diet, it was 4 shakes a day, and raw non starchy veggies as needed to help you "fill up" and get the crunch crave met. Unfortunately, there are certain veggies like broccoli and cauliflower I like warmed up. Not soggy, but a bit cooked. When I queried her in this, she ok'd me to go ahead and steam as I pleased. Her rationale for requiring only raw was that many patients would cook, add butter, or perhaps purchase the frozen bags with sauces. Being compliant, she wasn't worried about me. ( Besides, I've always preferred my veggies "undressed") Thanks for your input!

    MGB Information

Not sure what MGB even is....
  11. Depending on who I'm with or where I'm at, i may just share from my husbands plate or order on my own with a request for a to go box be brought out immediately. I went to the local Breakfast place alone the other day. Ordered a feta cheese, mushroom and spinach omelette- I literally ate 1/16th of it!!!! Ate another small piece for dinner and one of my boys finished the rest. This weekend for breakfast I ordered the strawberry and banana crepes. It came with strawberry syrup swirls on top. I carefully scraped it off- didn't want the sugar- only to bite into a piece to find not only the fresh strawberry a and bananas, but the same strawberry syrup inside. Ugh! Didn't risk it. Gave them to my daughter to eat later and just had a piece of my hubby's omelette. Now I know to ask....

    Scale Won't Budge!

It will go down again! Probably tomorrow or the next day! Here's my thought process- weight FLUCTUATES daily, and throughout the day. I only get on the scale VERY occasionally because of that. Instead, I'm watching my BMI and body fat percentage. My trainer at he gym as well as my doc and NUT all measure it, too. What have I seen? Tomorrow I'm 7 weeks post op. My BMI has dropped from 48 to 37! Now THOSE are numbers I can embrace!!!!

How plus size stores rip us off!

I've been wearing Danskins for decades. When I saw Walmart carrying the line I could only wonder if it was as good a quality. You know what? It is very close. Because of that, Walmart routinely gets my money for their leggings and tops. "Regular" sized or "plus" sized- I've bought them all. They hold up for years. For $12 a pair of Capri workout pants to last that long- unheard of but true. They will continue to get my money until I can nicely fit back into Lulu Lemons- and beyond.
  14. Your mind and body are getting in sync. That's a good thing! Eat to live- not live to eat. I have a hard time remembering to eat even almost 2 months out and I'm cleared for a general diet. I don't touch carbs- the couple times I tried even mushy mushed up Pasta I thought I was going to die. Same with rice. I look at it this way- why bother? They are - to me- empty calories. I stick to high Protein and veggies. I thought asparagus would be hard but it goes down like a charm- grilled, of course, or oven roasted (mmmmmmm!!!!!). I'm dying for a salad but still petrified to try lettuce. One day- just not yet

    Down how many dress sizes

Looking great! Guessing not too much by way of excess skin???? Lol

    I am so lost!

Choice- get your Protein in the easy way- I use one scoop of a "flavored" powder and one scoop of an unflavored one to the same amount- 8 oz of liquid. It's the only way I can do it. I'm just a little ahead of you- my surgery was March 23. Since I get the balance of my protein from meals, it works out great. One shake in the am has anywhere from 43-47 grams. (I don't use 2 flavored scoops because it is too strong in that flavor then!)

    13 days post op

Measure after cooking. Same thing if you purée something. Measure afterward. For reference- 1 tbl = 1 oz 1/4 c= 2 oz 1/2 c= 4 oz. Don't eyeball things, especially in the beginning. You can be off and not eat enough or too much. I went to the dollar store and stocked up on little round glass ramekins as well as plastic ones. They all have a half cup capacity. Good luck! Btw I microwave my eggs to soft boil stage too. When you are able to eat tuna, microwaving an egg to chop into it is so quick and tasty!!!

By request - BigViffer Workout Routine

I'm not big on trainers. All of my sport injuries came from doing exercises I learned from trainers. I would recommend a physical therapist over a trainer any day of the week. A sports medicine therapist is the best. I found a physical therapist who is also a trainer. Best of both worlds. My joints have taken a beating over the last 9 years from Rheumatoid Arthritis. Having someone who understands my medical condition and works WITH it is, quite simply, priceless. He meets me at my gym twice a week and I go to the PT clinic at my hospital -where he is on staff - once a week to build additional strength in my joints. Learning proper technique is key to prolonged success and health. I see people on machines not using them correctly and cringe. Thank you for your post. I'm saving it.

    TMI? No such thing.

I've decided that I have "poop days" six weeks out. Once a week. That's it. No amount of miralax, colace, you name it will change it. Went for my 6 week post op today and the nurse said she'd like to see me pooping more. Maybe 3 times a week. Yeah. I'll get right on that.

    Tomorrow!

Good luck!!! And tomorrow will be even better. Now walk walk walk!!!!!

    Emotional wreck...need to vent...

I'm AWESOME!!!! Tomorrow is my 6 week date!!! I'm down 30 lbs so far but MORE importantly, I feel great!!! Had bypass surgery. Best decision I've ever made. I'd been on high-high doses daily of prednisone for years! Talk about a moon face and apple belly! Lol. My surgery was at Evanston Hospital in the North suburban Chicago area. Love my surgeon and support staff. No problems at all either. Working out 5-6 times a week, walking daily, personal trainer 2 x a week. And I'm cleared to progress to a general diet (1/2 c food per meal) as tolerated. And yes!!!! Go Hawks!!!! I miss them so much already!!!

    Emotional wreck...need to vent...

You go girl!!! I had to post pis mine by a couple of weeks because I was scheduled to take a road trip a week post op and my surgeon said NO WAY. Looking back- even though I was recovering well one week post op I would have been miserable!!! I was driving from Chicago to Texas! Lol. Not a short trip by any means. Doc put it off til the week after I got back. I had already completed all but five days of my preop. He gave me the "green light" to enjoy my trip- food and all- and just do 5 days more when I got back. But I DID postpone mine- had $500 in hockey tickets and hotel rooms prepaid on my own dime. ( we went to St. Louis and then Dallas in 4 days to see my beloved Blackhawks play!!!! THAT I wasn't giving up!!!). A family gathering- that I'd give up for surgery any day. 25. Gall bladder surgery works! Same incisions, and after, all you have to do is say your stomach can't seem to tolerate most foods these days and if you eat too much you get sick. Voila!
