It is a game changer! Still feel lousy but this is the least amount of post surgical misery I have experienced. It is early though and this procedure has high complication rates. For more info on lymphatic draining, swelling, https://www.healthline.com/health/how-to-perform-lymphatic-drainage-massage. Ask your PS. May not be the only factor but wish I knew about it for previous procedures.
Hi. I am considering a thigh lift. Can you give me the good, the bad and the ugly? I have done my research but i am looking for info from someone who has personally had it done.

I had my stomach (vertical and hip to hip) with muscle repair and my arms (extended down my sides) at the same time back in january. My surgeon would not have done anything else at the same time along with those.

You will be fine with your magic band. Rides, I would just google pooh sized rides. I know there are groups on Facebook that could answer that about the rides. I never had any problems with rides but I didn't go on any roller coasters.

$18,000 with hiatal hernia repair. Chicago

I was told nothing over 15lbs for 6 wks

I am on the pill and have been for almost 6 yrs. I didn't have to stop taking it at all with my sleeve surgery. I was told that it is just as effective as before. My body still absorbs it. They said it would be different if i was having bypass.
-
I wouldn't. I have a lifting restriction until I'm 6 wks out.

I started back on the pill a month post op. No unexpected complications. My OBGYN did tell me my period were going to be more irregular due to the rapid weight lose, but they should even out know that I am 10 months post op with the weight lose slowing down. No,issues with the pill in her opinion though.
Thanks. I didn't have to stop taking mine at all. Amazing how all drs have different "requirements"

I do not see why the pill would be ineffective with sleeve surgery. You do become more fertile after WLS - but the pill should be effective in preventing pregnancy (unless you are often vomiting). It could be an issue with Bypass because of the malabsorption.
Ok that's exactly what I was thinking, maybe with bypass but with the sleeve I am still absorbing pills. I was able to continue taking my pills the whole time even the day of surgery (didn't need to I was on the sugar pills). My dr never mentioned that I shouldn't take the pill anymore. Thanks.

Hello. I was just sleeved almost 2 wks ago. On another group someone was saying that if you are on the pill it's harder to lose weight. Can any veterans shed some light on this? I have been on the pill for almost 6 yrs and I am praying that it's not going to make it harder for me to lose.

I had a EGD. I think it's the same thing. They put me a twilight (basically I was out). It was over in what felt like seconds. You will be fine. Hang in there.

Dude. I cannot stop having diarrhea. It's awful. I feel for you though. I used to only poop maybe twice a week.
Are you pre or post op

Sorry to hear you're dealing with Constipation pre-op @mmorris4. Luckily, I didn't deal with pre-op, but post-op I did as the anesthesia and pain meds can cause it, along with just not putting that much food into your body. Miralax worked wonders for me and I am a little over 2 weeks post-op and I still use it about 3 times per week to help stay regular for now. There are a lot of different over the counter solutions for constipation. If your NUT recommended miralax, I would try that first and if it doesn't work, as them for another suggestion but definitely address it and keep them in the loop with anything you are taking to help you! Good luck!
Thanks. This pre-op is hard enough. Now this too. lol. Hopefully it gets better.

I had to do a trial 2 week liquid diet before even meeting my surgeon, and I had some troubles during it with constipation. I started drinking more Water, and around day 12 or so, it all kind of worked itself out... Literally Relief will come!
Thanks. I sure hope so. I drink a lot of Water as it is.

I am a wk into my 2 wk pre op diet. Basically only Protein shakes, broth, sf Jello and Popsicles. Today is the first day that I have had to deal with MAJOR Constipation (pain, sweats). I called my nut and she said mirolax. Any other suggestions from people going through this or have gone through this. This is the first time I have ever dealt with constipation. Tia

I'm in Chicago also. Our policy doesn't cover wls. The first dr I went to wanted $26,000 and that didn't include my hiatal hernia repair. Then I found another dr that charges $16,000 and then I also have to pay $2,000 for my hernia so $18 total.
