I am! I went to Unity Point Weight Loss in West Des Moines. Dr. Theresa Lamasters is amazing and the whole experience was great. They have a team- Surgeon, psychologist, nutritionist, exercise physiologist. You meet with all of them. You need to sign up for an initial appt- there are other patients there as well- to get the ball rolling. So worth it. It was exactly a year ago that I went to my first meeting. Due to my own schedule, I didn't have the surgery until Dec. I am down 60 lbs! Best decision I ever made!! I was convinced I would be the one person it didn't work for- It works!!
    Good luck!

I agree with @@Inner Surfer Girl we need to know what you're doing now in order to make valid suggestions.....I also agree with @@Hiraeth your weight loss is significant! Try not to compare yourself with others as everyone is different.....A lot of folks report their weight loss from their highest weight rather than from their surgery date so if you must compare make sure you are comparing apples to apples....for example my surgery date was 5/16/16
    my highest weight was 252
    my surgery weight was 226.4
    my current weight is 200.6
I will be 8 weeks post op tomorrow....I've lost a total of 51.4 lbs.....but since surgery it's 25.8lbs. I'm averaging just under a half pound a day and I'm thrilled with that! I make sure to meet my Protein and Fluid goals and I stay very low carb....no starches, breads, or sugars.
The best approach is to just stick to your plan......the weight will come off but it may not come off as fast as you want it to but it will..........just remind yourself this is a lifetime commitment......don't try to rush it.
Good luck and keep up the good work!!!

I started eating popcorn occasionally and measured out (1 cup) at 4 months out. Make sure to measure, it is definitely a slider food.

Crossing my legs, seeing the pile of "too big" clothes growing, seeing my reflection and doing a double take- in a good way:) Having a calm feeling come over me when I think of the future.

Measure your portions and stick with that as a guide. Don't rely on "full" to tell you when to stop eating. It's a very bad habit we all learned too well. Eating till we were full is how we got fat in the first place. And as for feeling hungry, like others said it's probably acid or thirst. Take a PPI (or increase your dose), try chewing tums or Rolaids when you think you are hungry, and drink more.

As soon as I mentioned feeling hunger, my doctor said it was actually acid and that I needed a stronger acid medication. Once I started that, no more "hunger."

If you don't work out anymore, try to reduce snacking, especially the Protein bars. They won't do any good as they are extra calories if your muscles are not recovering. Regarding traveling, I also move quite a lot and pack my bars that I use as dinner most of the time. You can always find good Protein on salad buffet. I skip main course, because I am not hungry after salad, especially if I add tuna, boiled eggs or salmon. You can always get low fat dressing on the side. No dessert while traveling. You never know what is in there. If you can find a supermarket in the area, even better. Also, if you spend some nights out on trips, take the opportunity to use the hotel gym. Most of the chains have fitness rooms.

Thank you for having the balls to post your fall off the food wagon. Your honesty does you proud. No flannel, just the facts. OK, you know what you should be doing so JFDI!!! You can. Of course you can. You didn't go through serious surgery to start the weight loss marathon to fall at the first mile marker. All I can do is to repeat the old mantra-get your Protein and Water in and stay off the refined carbs. Get a copy of Queen of Crop's book (Amazon), read it, and use it as a handy touchstone. It helped me. Stick close to this site too. Hey, I don't know why I'm even trying to teach you as you appear to know EXACTLY where you have tripped up. C'mon girl. Pick yourself up, dust yourself off and think of all the health benefits AND gorgeous clothes that await you. Go girl, GO!!!!!!!!!!!!!

If it is in passing I say say, "Thanks, decided to get healthy." If someone takes me aside and asks me specifically what I have been doing, then I say "I decided to get healthy and had WLS."

I am 18 months out, well past goal weight and in maintenance, and I still don't eat 1000-1200 calories per day. There is no way I would have lost weight eating that many calories, sadly. Is that the amount your doctor told you to increase your calories up to? 800 was the maximum number we were allowed to still be in weight loss mode. I eat about 900 per day now, in maintenance. I hope things improve for you soon!! Good luck!

    Yes.
I tell them I had VSG surgery and have followed the new way of eating most of the time.
There is no other way I can explain losing 185 lbs. What do I say, "Oh yeah....I was in Kamchatka on vacation and was bitten by a rabid sea snake while skin diving for dinner......and the venom burned away all my fat?".
