My date is on the 30th. I wanted to only take a week off too but my doctor said 2 weeks off. I'm scared to ask him to only do 1 week. He's the doctor and he knows best and he's one of those men that is like : I said 2 and 2 is what you'll do! I just put In for 2 weeks off and I'm a teacher too so i sent paperwork in to the district for FMLA. I'm sure if the surgeon says 2 weeks it's for the best. We women think we're Wonder Woman????.

I'm so glad someone asked this! I had lapband in 2011 but can't remember how much time I took off. I think I took off two weeks, but I remember thinking I could've gone back sooner. Now I'm getting the sleeve Wednesday March 16 and I told work I'd probably be back the following Wednesday. As it gets closer I'm thinking I should've planned for more time off, though I'm fully unpaid. I'm a teacher, but working as a substitute 3 days per week at a school, in a very active role. I'm worried about going back to soon but worried about being without income while I'm gone:( has anyone in a more active job gone back after one week? Or is this completely unrealistic?
I think everyone is different and it depends on the person, pain level, age and all the other factors as well! Good luck!

As a mother of five my heart cried when I read your post. Take care of yourself so that you can be strong and hold your sons hand with a tight, firm grip. You and yours are in my prayers.

Just say you've decided to go on a high Protein low carb diet & at dinner bring a Premier Protein shake & Water, sip sip sip:) and of course be polite and let everyone know you'll gladly share your awful shake with them;-).

It's the least invasive for me. When I met with my primary care, she agreed she even stated that if she had to choose from the 3, she'd pick the sleeve and that sealed it for me!

Well, I pray that my surgery will be in March. I feel that I've met my 3 month diet with my primary who's been trying to help me for over a year. I've met with the surgeon, he asked me to get a chest X-ray and blood work, which I finished today and my psych evaluation is next Friday!
I'm sure it's just my nerves kicking in...Surgery 3/16

I'd like to know what kind of pre op diet your doctor put you on. My doctor said 2 high Protein low carb shakes a day and 1 no carb meal but he said I could have 2-3 teaspoons of non starchy vegetables. I can only eat meat that's 4 oz. or the size of my palm. I've lost 4 pounds since I saw him on Tuesday and my calories are nowhere near 1000 calories.
