  1. Visit with the doc went very well. He also told me that he put extra care with me as both of us have a common point with tragic events. He removed the stitches, that a nice relief not to feel the little tension on the skin. I can start sport back with moderation and low intensity. 2 more weeks before weight lifting. I can start purée this weekend and need to be extra careful. I have an appointment with the nutritionist next week. Again, so far so good even if I had some mood swings today and I think everybody noticed at work as they kept good distance. [emoji4]. Another pound gone. I can get used to that.
  2. Pose is a Bariatric technique to fold the stomach in order to reduce its size. The surgeon places stitches from inside the stomach . Quick surgery, no external signs (no stitches) you go home the same day. However, it only reduce the stomach size by 25 to 30 % and does not remove the hunger hormone...
  3. Hi, I discussed about POSE at first with my surgeon that told me it was not a good idea. He also mentioned that he was not doing this surgery, but "fixed" several patients with a sleeve. So I assume it is possible. I guess you need to talk to several surgeons and find one experienced with it. Mine did over 900 sleeves. it helps building trust
  4. That is a good idea. I will probably give it a try this weekend after talking to my surgeon tonight. I assume that it is a mix of purees and liquids at first? I am doing so well with liquids that I want to make sure I could do something as puree at lunch and a shake in the evening or something like that.
  5. I wish I had a dog. Unfortunately it is not possible with all my traveling. Furthermore I have a cat that is quite the king of the house and would not welcome any other pet
  6. Another day at work, more intense and no issues. Today some colleagues had lunch delivered to the office . Usually I would have been craving of hunger at lunch with nice smell of well cooked Spanish dishes....but now I noticed that if my head remembered very well, my stomach remained completely indifferent . This is magical. I scheduled a shake at 1 pm that I took at 5 pm. I can drink plenty of water now (as long as there is flavor). And I lost my daily pound. I can't ask for more. I am 9 days post op and I am thinking about remaining on liquids an extra week. Did anybody do that? I am worried about purées since my episode of liquid yogurt and protein powder was not a success.
  7. Congrats! Looking forward to reading about your experience!
  8. I did not do any prep-op diet either. My surgeon told me it was a way to keep people motivated for weight loss while they wait for insurance approvals. Anyway, it can't hurt to do a diet and no food funerals prior to surgery. I am just wondering if people on liquid diet for a couple of weeks prior the surgery don't reach a stall /plateau sooner?
  9. Same here. I looked into the biggest joke ever (gastric balloon) and I was close to do it. Then other things happened and I lost 60 pounds with diet and sport but within a year I put 50 back. At least I did not top on the weight I lost. No need to say that I was pretty upset with myself and depressed. I did not have the strength to start a diet again knowing I would be starving all day long. I know it was a huge investment as a self payer, but I also know I would not screw this. So far so good....and one step at the time.
  10. Hi, I have bruises around the stitches but nothing else. Try to drink and get some proteins if you don't want to feel weak. I know it is hard but you need to find what you tolerate. Personally I can't do Isopure anymore, but shakes are ok. I am a week out and everyday is a little improvement. Hang in there.
  11. Today is my first week birthday on the surgery. Happy birthday to me! I've been dropping on calories the last 2 days to 600 and increased my water intake around 2 liters a day. I went back to work today and it went well. Not too tired. I even put a pair of Dockers pants I bought but never wore before (38 w). Now they fit ok (still a little tight). I am losing a pound a day so far. I am at 258 this morning. My goal is 195. I will get the stitches removed in 2 days. I am REALLY looking forward to starting weight lifting again and cardio. I guess I am still 2 to 3 weeks out . This is an amazing journey. Not being hungry all the time and becoming indifferent to shops (especially bakeries), food smells, vending machines , etc is a blessing! One regret so far. I should have done it 10 years ago.
  12. Drink your liquids and try to take your proteins....then be patient. Took me 6 days without medication.
  13. Thank you Chris. I am so dedicated to it and really want to reach my goal. Tomorrow back to work. I hope I'll have the energy to ho through the day.
  14. No more gas pain. What a relief! I have been doing light elliptical (as walking fast). No issue and it helped to clear my mind. I tried a liquid yogurt and added protein powder in it. Big mistake . It stayed on the sleeve most of the afternoon. Have not felt so full in a long time. Back to the shake and broth. I can drink my water intake without problems as long there is a flavor in it. Raspberry / cranberry and mint are my favorites. Of course there is no added sugar but Stevia
  15. I am also day 5 and my surgeon did not put any indication on maximum quantities you can drink. I can do broth and water at the same time too. Only the protein shakes are harder to digest for me. Regarding hunger pain, I am on Omeprazole to take when it happens and works great. I also notice it does not happen if I keep my schedule on drinking and "eating" at the right hours. Take care, Mico
  16. Hi, I'm 5 days out ( mine was done on the 22nd) and the gas pain is finally gone. Now I have another challenge with my intestines and the way they react to a full liquid diet. I guess I also need to adjust there . Overall no feeling of hunger, no cravings. I am indifferent to tv commercials and i even cooked bbq for family and friends. The only problem I noticed is that I was so busy this morning I did not drink anything from 8h30 to 14h. I ended up with a huge headache and dizziness that a proton broth fixed almost immediately . I won't do the same mistake again.
  17. I dropped 8 pounds since Tuesday and 25 since March 7th. 820 calories a day on liquid diet seems to be the right number for me. I may try some light elliptical tomorrow in order to sweat a bit. I still have an issue with long walks. I tried this today for an hour but gets bored. I don't want to do a major effort but rather some easy spin without resistance. Let's see how my body reacts. Did anybody try mild sport that early? Thanks. Mico.
  18. Thanks for the apple tip. I will try that. Cooling Easter dinner (marinated lamb on bbq, taboule, and chocolate pie) was actually very interesting. I did not even think about a bite when it would have driven me mad a few weeks ago. This sleeve is magical. And I lost 8 pounds in 4 days. On day 5. Getting all my proteins and liquids without any issue. Still having a hard time with long walks but I am working on it.
  19. Last night was a bit rough because of the gas. Especially in the shoulders. Pain killers fixed it. I am amazed that my sleeve reacts so well to protein drinks and even coffee with skimmed milk . No acidity, no heartburn. I can take all my liquids and proteins down and I already feel a lot more energized. I also barely think about the wounds. So far the journey is amazing. What I love the most is the lack of hunger . I have family home and they cooked home meals that I would have died for before and that are not appealing at all now. I hope it will remain as is for a long time!!!
  20. About to leave the hospital. The removal of the drain was by far the worse part of the overall experience! Hopefully it is done. Ready to go for a nice walk since the weather is lovely. Needs to clear my head and focus on my recovery. Stacked up broth, Isopure, and protein powder. 10 days of liquid diet ahead . I am so NOT hungry that I don't think it will be a problem, but you never know. Update soon. All of you take care. Mico
  21. Thank you. Yes i hope it will be 3 Days. I am going home tomorrow, that is already an improvement .
  22. I had my surgery on the 22nd. Water intake is painful. Juice is easier. I have no idea about weight loss. I still feel inflated as s balloon with the gas . I hope it will pass soon
  23. Thank you. Wales... Lots of memories there . Spent quite some time in Cardiff and Bridgend. Still have friends there. Take care. Mico
  24. Got my first drink today (infusion). Went ok. Was pretty scared to drink though. If everything ok, I am getting out tomorrow.
