I need to do this, no matter what
Hi Chris! Glad to have you back even if it means end of the vacations for you... I am doing fine. Losing at a small pace but a good one. Congrats on your weight control during your holidays. I know how hard it can be and easy to fall for some nasty carbs that our sleeve can tolerate. I am looking forward to my summer break in August. Can't wait! I need to do this, no matter what
Yes it is a roller coaster. And it is still going on. I am rebuilding myself a step at the time everyday. I don't know where I would be without the sleeve that prevented me from letting myself go completely. It is not easy but I accepted the fact that it happened. We thought that nothing can hit us, that these stories are always for the others until it hit you with a violence you would not suspect. I still feel terribly guilty about it, even if I know we've done everything we could have. I need to be strong for my daughter and my wife. Believe me, the sleeve is a piece of cake compare to my other challenges. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

I need to do this, no matter what
Hello Fellow sleevers! today is my surgery anniversary (2 months out). 50 pounds lighter, doing great. I am a bit worried with lose skins around the arms but so far nothing I won't be able to fix with weight lifting and motivation. One great benefit I did not notice until now is.... that I am not the prime target of mosquitos anymore!!! I used to be their favorite meal. But now the season is starting in Spain again, they see me, sometime fly around, but they don't bite. I used to share that burden with my mother in law that got bitten multiple times when she was visiting....but now she is the only victim. Only for this, I would go for the surgery again!!

And it works with Cranberry juice too! (Red / Rosé wine) .I am not getting tired of this! So funny to see people getting wasted when you are just fine. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

I need to do this, no matter what
A quick tip that is actually useful. You want to have a drink but don't want to be marginalized because you don't drink alcohol? Get an apple juice, water and ask for a wine glass. Pour the apple juice and cut it with water till the correct color.... Voilà! You have now a glass of white wine. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

I need to do this, no matter what
I am at a corporate event for a few days and I am meeting again with people that last saw me with 48 extra pounds... It is actually funny how guys have a direct communication about why weight loss and have great things to say about it, when my female colleagues are far more distant, even those I have a friendly relationship with. To be honest, it does not matter, I am lot at goal and I don't like the recent pictures I saw of me. I don't see much of a difference Or not the difference I want to see, if it makes sense. Finger foods buffet and coffee breaks with pastries are great occasion for me to run away around the hotel and have a walk since the weather is great. I can relax then seat down, have a quest bar for lunch and type my life story on Bariatric Pal under the sun... What else ? as a famous actor would say. Wish all of you to enjoy your day, whatever you do, no matter what stage of your surgery you are going through! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

4 Days Post-Op Blues
Hi, let's not forget that this is still a surgery! I know we always talk about sleeve or VSG but this is a major intervention on one of the most important organs. I believe that when we think about it, our recovery is quite amazing. Yes, this is painful at first, but I have been through worse pains than that. And...oh boy, the results are so great that if I had to feel the gas pain again (once or twice, not more, I am not crazy) I would sign up for it! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

One month post op! Down 25 pounds but freaking out because weight loss has slowed !
Hi, Your body is not "broken". You are just going through a major change. you need to give it time. You can't expect to lose all the weight at once. You are doing the right thing. 5 pounds in 2 weeks is still pretty good. I had a stall for almost 2 weeks, meaning I did not lose any weight and I was very active. Try to change your gym routine. Do less cardio, more strength training. Take your Proteins. don't cut on food. Follow your NUT advice. If not, you would slow down your metabolism and hit a major stall. Make sure you drink enough. The emotional roller coaster is normal. it comes with the weight loss (hormones are released from fat). Keep your July 4th goal, but don't be obsessed about it. You already lost 24 pounds. This is amazing! Think how long it would have taken with a regular diet. Take it easy. you're on the right path. Take care.

Dumping syndrome with gastric sleeve
I don't have dumping syndrome, but if my sleeve does not like something, it won't stay and will go back the same way it came in... Which is not pleasant at all (foamies). So I avoid this nasty experience as much as possible. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

Protein bars
Hi, My favorites are Quest bars. Cookies and cream and double chocolate. About 200 calories each and 20 grams of Proteins. Great to snack after a good workout. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

Words of wisdom welcome!
The sleeve is a tool. Not THE solution. If you are a binge eater you will still be...but you are going to hurt yourself as you won't be able to eat much. I know I needed this tool as hunger and huge quantities of food was my problem. Now I don't think about food that much and I have new hobbies. I'm not saying I am cured from head hunger, but I can control it, which I was not able to do in the past. I did not have counseling but it seems a good idea. And it is normal to doubt before such a change. Just think you do it for a better life! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

4 Days Post-Op Blues
Hang in there. You will feel better soon. You just went through a major surgery and your body needs to heal / adjust. Try to get your Water and Proteins daily. This is what you need to focus on. Regarding water, I need to add flavor to it. I can't drink it without. You should try it too. I am almost 2 months out (surgery on March 22) and things get better. Take care. I need to do this, no matter what
Trip on the scale this morning... 9 lbs lost this month. The weight loss rhythm is definitely slowing down. I guess it is also linked to the fact that I am not that far away from my goal (at least this is a way to look at it ). I am thinking about focusing more on strength/ weight lifting rather than cardio. I also need to change my eating habits.... And be patient, which is hard for me. I take my vitamins, water and proteins daily, so I know I am good at this level. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

I need to do this, no matter what
I have been back to the gym the last few days and killed it. It helps feeling better. I have been watching a bunch of YouTube videos on what people are eating 2-3 months out ...and I know I can't do the same. That does not mean I am doing bad, I just can't eat some of the food and/or quantity. I am wondering if other people are experiencing the same. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

I need to do this, no matter what
I have a hard time eating anything else than protein shakes and / or Quest bars. I can eat salmon as long as it not over cooked. Yogurt also goes well. Everything else is either leading to acidity or a trip to the bathroom. Cereals for breakfast is also ok. I don't know if this is related to stress as I am under an unbelievable workload lately. I take my vitamins but I feel exhausted al the time. I did not go to the gym at all this week, which means that my weight did not change (or not much). A week to forget. I need to do this, no matter what
Tomorrow is week 7 post-op and I am doing ok. I decided to let the scale out of my life for a while. I went to visit my sister for a long weekend and I had to be careful about what to eat and not to try. Overall I did good (she knows about my surgery so she bought stuff she knew I would eat, and I REALLY appreciated it). I still tried a couple of things new and except a rice salad that sent me directly to the bathroom, everything else was ok. Did several long walks. Very nice. Back home today and I need to go back to the gym. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

I need to do this, no matter what
I am trying my best , which does not mean I am always following the rules . Doing your routine is a major benefit and minimize the impact of the carbs from the biscuits. But you're right, being home is so much easier to stay on top of everything. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

I need to do this, no matter what
Last night was great. Good friends, great atmosphere , I had a great time. While they started with be, I had a grape juice. I took some tapas (hummus, shrimps and salmon), stayed away from bread. Then some squid And a yogurt with mango sorbet in dessert. Yummy! It is kind of funny how you see people from a differently. I never noticed how much they ate or how they were changing after a few beers and a bottle of wine shared. Nevertheless it made me believe I can have a social life with the Sleeve and I don't have to wait for a year post-op. This is the place I went to: http://follia.com/benvinguts-al-follia/ Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

I need to do this, no matter what
6 weeks and a day post op. Solid food is still an issue as I realize I eat too fast...and then I pay the price. I got tired of purée and I almost skipped that phase. I still do protein shake and yogurt for lunch, some time protein bars (Quest). I have tried to join a finger food buffet during a workshop, but my choices were VERY limited, so I won´t do it again. Social time is an issue at work (because of what I can drink or eat), and I have dinner with friends tomorrow in a tapas bar. I already checked what I can eat and drink. I should be fine, but it may be tougher than I think. we´ll see.

Birthday drinks?
I am 6 weeks post op and I could not think about having any alcohol. My sleeve is still very sensitive with food and I just guess it would not go well. So when I go for social events I have apple juice or unsweetened ice tea. I also tried a few cocktails without alcohol but they are full of sugar as the fruit juices are not mostly made from concentrated. Now that is my experience . I would check with your surgeon first. Let us know his recommendation. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

Coffee
My first drink 3 days post-op was a coffee with milk served in the hospital. I thought that the choice of drink was a bit strange. Neither my surgeon nor NUT ever told me not to have coffee or to limit the quantity. I drink 2 to 3 "real & strong" coffees a day. I never experienced heartburn or acidity. I guess I am lucky.
