  1. Yesterday was 10 weeks since surgery. I eat now about 1200 calories a day, with 120-130 grams of proteins as I go to the gym 5 times a week. Carbs are under control. Weight loss is regular, about 3-4 pounds a week, which is good for me. I know that the less extra weight I have to lose, the harder it will get. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    One Year Post-op

I have to go out for dinners a lot too with my job and this is a real challenge at my current stage. I guess at one year out, you can probably eat a bit more, and therefore you must be careful with what to choose to stay on track. But it seems it is working for you.

    Increased appetite

Hi, What are you eating? It could be you are experiencing head hunger. Did you have any "slider food"? I, for instance, noticed that I can eat a full individual package of multi grain crackers and I am pretty sure I could eat more...so I avoid them. Old habits die hard. if you were going to the fridge a lot pre-op, it makes sense you still do it post-op. You should just try to find out if you are really hungry. You could be thirsty too, it is pretty much the same feeling (at least for me). As long as you eat your protein first, then your vegetables and finish with your carbs, you will be fine.

    One Year Post-op

Wow. Congrats! I can't wait to be one year post-op. 2 months a a week so far. any tips for the maintenance phase? what are your main challenges?
  5. I used to put on my living room table a plate with a lemon and cloves nailed into it and it seemed to work pretty well against mosquitos. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  6. One more thing... About meeting another sleever. I am not sure that two guys checking each other with nothing else than a towel around the waist in a gym dressing room is the best way to introduce each other.... Have a Great weekend and enjoy the time with your granddaughter. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  7. It's really funny you mention this. Sometime, maybe 10-15 years ago, mosquitos just stopped biting me. It's awesome. I spend a lot of time outside in an area that has quite a few mosquitos, yet never get bitten. Literally never. I was actually wondering as the mosquitos pick up if that will change since having this surgery. I always assumed it was something to do with hormones/diet, etc. That all changes so much after surgery, I hope I still have my anti-mosquito superpowers. I had my surgery 1 days before yours, so this is my first mosquito season since surgery! I also believe it has to do with the sweat and smell. I don't sweat as much as I used to. I know that it had not much to do with Proteins diet as I did a few of those in my past and was still covered with bites. I wish you keep your super powers! Let us know how it goes. 8. Thank you Chris and have a nice weekend too. I hope there won't be too much traffic... But it's London. . Yes it is quite amazing when we pause for a moment and realize what we can do and were not able to with the extra weight. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  9. Thank you for sharing CelesteMarie. Everybody has his own approach on the sharing thing. I am a very social extrovert person but private a the same time. I used to be always the funny dude from the group but nobody got to really know me. That is why now at 42 I can still count my friends on the the fingers of one hand. I don't care about what people think. What bother me more is that some people I shared it with reacted in a very weird way as it is triggering either fear, confusion, envy or whatever other feeling. So to avoid this, I am not talking about it. Now if I was doing a job as yours where I am in contact to many people everyday, I would maybe change my approach. May be I should think about it again. Exercise is addictive. I don't feel well when I skip a session for whatever reason. The worst part is to actually get started.... Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  10. I started a membership to a new gym next to work that opens very early (6 am is the earliest you can get in Spain). So I went there and spent a total of an hour and a half killing it on weight lifting first, and then ran on a treadmill for 30 minutes. Great feeling of achievement . Then I went to the dressing room to shower and I saw a guy changing with the same little scars on the belly... There were plenty of people dressing up as it is was a busy hour so we could not talk much but it is kind of funny how I knew that I would have a great topic of conversation with him. I know that his surgery is more recent than mine and he is starting to exercise again since a few days. I guess that last year I would have not paid attention to him, or maybe wondering how he could lose weight so fast . Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

  12. Congrats on your achievement! Way to go. I am tired and wanted an easy evening but after reading your post, I am going to jump on my elliptical bike. Thank you Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  13. Hi Chris! Glad to have you back even if it means end of the vacations for you... I am doing fine. Losing at a small pace but a good one. Congrats on your weight control during your holidays. I know how hard it can be and easy to fall for some nasty carbs that our sleeve can tolerate. I am looking forward to my summer break in August. Can't wait! 14. Yes it is a roller coaster. And it is still going on. I am rebuilding myself a step at the time everyday. I don't know where I would be without the sleeve that prevented me from letting myself go completely. It is not easy but I accepted the fact that it happened. We thought that nothing can hit us, that these stories are always for the others until it hit you with a violence you would not suspect. I still feel terribly guilty about it, even if I know we've done everything we could have. I need to be strong for my daughter and my wife. Believe me, the sleeve is a piece of cake compare to my other challenges. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  15. OMG. I thought I was the only one doing this. Since I use the Aria scale it sync automatically with Fitbit and myfitnesspal. Then I copy the values to Excel... Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    Male Before and After Pictures

2 months out, 50 pounds down. Still a work in progress. I am trying to switch from fitness / cardio to more intense weight lifting, bodybuilding. Goal is to drop body fat with weight and keep muscles. I am trying to get 120-130 grams of Proteins a day. still challenging.
  17. Hello Fellow sleevers! today is my surgery anniversary (2 months out). 50 pounds lighter, doing great. I am a bit worried with lose skins around the arms but so far nothing I won't be able to fix with weight lifting and motivation. One great benefit I did not notice until now is.... that I am not the prime target of mosquitos anymore!!! I used to be their favorite meal. But now the season is starting in Spain again, they see me, sometime fly around, but they don't bite. I used to share that burden with my mother in law that got bitten multiple times when she was visiting....but now she is the only victim. Only for this, I would go for the surgery again!!

  19. And it works with Cranberry juice too! (Red / Rosé wine) .I am not getting tired of this! So funny to see people getting wasted when you are just fine. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  20. A quick tip that is actually useful. You want to have a drink but don't want to be marginalized because you don't drink alcohol? Get an apple juice, water and ask for a wine glass. Pour the apple juice and cut it with water till the correct color.... Voilà! You have now a glass of white wine. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  21. I am at a corporate event for a few days and I am meeting again with people that last saw me with 48 extra pounds... It is actually funny how guys have a direct communication about why weight loss and have great things to say about it, when my female colleagues are far more distant, even those I have a friendly relationship with. To be honest, it does not matter, I am lot at goal and I don't like the recent pictures I saw of me. I don't see much of a difference Or not the difference I want to see, if it makes sense. Finger foods buffet and coffee breaks with pastries are great occasion for me to run away around the hotel and have a walk since the weather is great. I can relax then seat down, have a quest bar for lunch and type my life story on Bariatric Pal under the sun... What else ? as a famous actor would say. Wish all of you to enjoy your day, whatever you do, no matter what stage of your surgery you are going through! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    4 Days Post-Op Blues

Hi, let's not forget that this is still a surgery! I know we always talk about sleeve or VSG but this is a major intervention on one of the most important organs. I believe that when we think about it, our recovery is quite amazing. Yes, this is painful at first, but I have been through worse pains than that. And...oh boy, the results are so great that if I had to feel the gas pain again (once or twice, not more, I am not crazy) I would sign up for it! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  23. Hi, Your body is not "broken". You are just going through a major change. you need to give it time. You can't expect to lose all the weight at once. You are doing the right thing. 5 pounds in 2 weeks is still pretty good. I had a stall for almost 2 weeks, meaning I did not lose any weight and I was very active. Try to change your gym routine. Do less cardio, more strength training. Take your Proteins. don't cut on food. Follow your NUT advice. If not, you would slow down your metabolism and hit a major stall. Make sure you drink enough. The emotional roller coaster is normal. it comes with the weight loss (hormones are released from fat). Keep your July 4th goal, but don't be obsessed about it. You already lost 24 pounds. This is amazing! Think how long it would have taken with a regular diet. Take it easy. you're on the right path. Take care.

    Dumping syndrome with gastric sleeve

I don't have dumping syndrome, but if my sleeve does not like something, it won't stay and will go back the same way it came in... Which is not pleasant at all (foamies). So I avoid this nasty experience as much as possible. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
