    3 Days Post Op.....

Hi, I have bruises around the stitches but nothing else. Try to drink and get some proteins if you don't want to feel weak. I know it is hard but you need to find what you tolerate. Personally I can't do Isopure anymore, but shakes are ok. I am a week out and everyday is a little improvement. Hang in there.
  2. Today is my first week birthday on the surgery. Happy birthday to me! I've been dropping on calories the last 2 days to 600 and increased my water intake around 2 liters a day. I went back to work today and it went well. Not too tired. I even put a pair of Dockers pants I bought but never wore before (38 w). Now they fit ok (still a little tight). I am losing a pound a day so far. I am at 258 this morning. My goal is 195. I will get the stitches removed in 2 days. I am REALLY looking forward to starting weight lifting again and cardio. I guess I am still 2 to 3 weeks out . This is an amazing journey. Not being hungry all the time and becoming indifferent to shops (especially bakeries), food smells, vending machines , etc is a blessing! One regret so far. I should have done it 10 years ago.

    5 days post-op questions

Drink your liquids and try to take your proteins....then be patient. Took me 6 days without medication.
  4. Thank you Chris. I am so dedicated to it and really want to reach my goal. Tomorrow back to work. I hope I'll have the energy to ho through the day.
  5. No more gas pain. What a relief! I have been doing light elliptical (as walking fast). No issue and it helped to clear my mind. I tried a liquid yogurt and added protein powder in it. Big mistake . It stayed on the sleeve most of the afternoon. Have not felt so full in a long time. Back to the shake and broth. I can drink my water intake without problems as long there is a flavor in it. Raspberry / cranberry and mint are my favorites. Of course there is no added sugar but Stevia

    5 days post-op questions

I am also day 5 and my surgeon did not put any indication on maximum quantities you can drink. I can do broth and water at the same time too. Only the protein shakes are harder to digest for me. Regarding hunger pain, I am on Omeprazole to take when it happens and works great. I also notice it does not happen if I keep my schedule on drinking and "eating" at the right hours. Take care, Mico

    3 Days Post Op.....

Hi, I'm 5 days out ( mine was done on the 22nd) and the gas pain is finally gone. Now I have another challenge with my intestines and the way they react to a full liquid diet. I guess I also need to adjust there . Overall no feeling of hunger, no cravings. I am indifferent to tv commercials and i even cooked bbq for family and friends. The only problem I noticed is that I was so busy this morning I did not drink anything from 8h30 to 14h. I ended up with a huge headache and dizziness that a proton broth fixed almost immediately . I won't do the same mistake again.
  8. I dropped 8 pounds since Tuesday and 25 since March 7th. 820 calories a day on liquid diet seems to be the right number for me. I may try some light elliptical tomorrow in order to sweat a bit. I still have an issue with long walks. I tried this today for an hour but gets bored. I don't want to do a major effort but rather some easy spin without resistance. Let's see how my body reacts. Did anybody try mild sport that early? Thanks. Mico.

    6 days post-op and hungry

Thanks for the apple tip. I will try that. Cooling Easter dinner (marinated lamb on bbq, taboule, and chocolate pie) was actually very interesting. I did not even think about a bite when it would have driven me mad a few weeks ago. This sleeve is magical. And I lost 8 pounds in 4 days. On day 5. Getting all my proteins and liquids without any issue. Still having a hard time with long walks but I am working on it.
  10. Last night was a bit rough because of the gas. Especially in the shoulders. Pain killers fixed it. I am amazed that my sleeve reacts so well to protein drinks and even coffee with skimmed milk . No acidity, no heartburn. I can take all my liquids and proteins down and I already feel a lot more energized. I also barely think about the wounds. So far the journey is amazing. What I love the most is the lack of hunger . I have family home and they cooked home meals that I would have died for before and that are not appealing at all now. I hope it will remain as is for a long time!!!
  11. About to leave the hospital. The removal of the drain was by far the worse part of the overall experience! Hopefully it is done. Ready to go for a nice walk since the weather is lovely. Needs to clear my head and focus on my recovery. Stacked up broth, Isopure, and protein powder. 10 days of liquid diet ahead . I am so NOT hungry that I don't think it will be a problem, but you never know. Update soon. All of you take care. Mico

    MARCH SLEEVERS?

I had my surgery on the 22nd. Water intake is painful. Juice is easier. I have no idea about weight loss. I still feel inflated as s balloon with the gas . I hope it will pass soon
  14. Thank you. Wales... Lots of memories there . Spent quite some time in Cardiff and Bridgend. Still have friends there. Take care. Mico
  15. Got my first drink today (infusion). Went ok. Was pretty scared to drink though. If everything ok, I am getting out tomorrow.

    MARCH SLEEVERS?

Because you can! It is your choice. Hang in there. It is so worth it.
  17. Thank you. Beginning of the journey. I don't know what to expect but I am determined to succeed. Can't wait to go home .

    MARCH SLEEVERS?

Good for you! Wish you all the best in your recovery .
  19. Gosh Mico you dont really look overweight in your photo! Good luck with your journey and resisting those delicious spanish churros! Sent from my GT-I9505 using the BariatricPal App Thank you. I have never been a fan of churros. However, Fideua, cured ham and cheese, tapas and chuleton are more my sins. I lost weight over the last too weeks (not much of an appetite with what happened) and it will help me with my journey.
  20. Thanks for your kind words Julie. I made up my mind with the sleeve a long time ago . Bypass looks very appealing but I could not take supplements all my life ( I am terrible at taking prescriptions) and the dumping syndrome was a no go. My issue is on quantity to fill full. I am a social person and enjoy dinner out with colleagues and friends. I will be happier when I am done with half a starter and not have to eat the entire bread basket, 2 heavily dishes and some time dessert. I want this life gone. If the mini bypass works for you great. I am convinced the sleeve is the tool I need . Blessing to you too. Mico
  21. I got extra medication for the acidity and it is gone . No pain . They also removed the drain for a pocket on my belly. Way better.
  22. I would love them to remove the drain so I could at least sleep on one side. I guess I have to be patient. I also feel a bit of reflux and acidity in the stomach. I need to bring that up today too.
  23. I should stay a few more nights in the hospital. 2 may be 3. It is part of the package I paid. No insurance for me. May be it is s good thing. My surgeon really wants to ensure everything is ok (no leak, etc). Since he's done a few VSG (over 900) I will do what he tells me to [emoji4].
  24. Day 2 started. Rough night at the hospital. Can't really sleep on my back to start with. Lots of gas. Had to pee 3 times and I did joy drink one glass of water. I guess the IV are working great . I start to feel some acidity in my stomach (light burn). Will check with the nurse. I have a drain that remains very low. I guess it is a good sign. No cravings, but would love a glass of water and to be able to brush my teeth. I hope I can stand up today!

    MARCH SLEEVERS?

I am not allowed to drink anything yet nor to stand or walk. I hope I can do that tomorrow . Staying in bed all day is NOT for me.
