Oh my goodness (OMG). I had a wonderful non-scale victory (NSV) this past week. I flew on an airline for the first time since surgery. Last flight was one year ago and I suffered mucho embarrassment when I required a seat belt extender for each leg of my flight. Once, I had to request it while sitting next to my tall, ex-model coworker whose eyes nearly popped out of her head when she realized that I could not buckle my seat belt without the extender. This flight I had seat belt room-to-spare on every plane and every different style belt. Yippee! This has been the best NSV yet. I feel like a "normal" person again. I hadn't even realized that I previously did not!

I'm 4 weeks out and can drink a lot. I wondered it that was normal.

No one answered directly, but yes, its "a" normal. The majority have problems with drinking for a while, but a large chunk of us don't. I had zero problems chugging right out of surgery (had the same question as you).
True restriction will kick in when you move on to real foods. Just remember there are a lot of normals

I have to add that the liquids really mess with your head! I forgot how strong of a thing head hunger really is! My husband (who only has around 10 lbs to lose) tried to do it with me, broke down the first day and got a large milk shake from DQ and tried to rationalize that it was Liquid Protein Maybe! But not the calorie count we are looking for!

Seems like there are a few of us who are needing a fresh start!! I was banded feb 08-and did awesome! Focused on all the rules, took care of my band, treated it as a tool, worked hard and lost 110 pounds. Took about 2 years but I did it!
My main motivation for getting the band was to lose weight In order to be healthy enough to have babies. My baby making parts just don't work when they are surrounded by 300 pounds.
We officially started trying in march 2010 and were pregnant by September. In June 2011 we welcomed the most amazing little boy! He far exceeds any of my expectations of what motherhood would be like! ???
I stopped caring about myself because 1000% of my attention is on him and frankly I really don't want it any other way! We tried for 8 years to have him and he's all I've ever wanted.
So now I'm back where I started my journey...300 lbs. I'm not happy with anything concerning myself. My self esteem is shot and then I start questioning my mothering skills. I don't want him to be teased for having the fattest mother. I want to be able to chase after him without feeling like I'm going to have a heart attack. I want him to be proud I'm his mom and never feel embarrassed because of my weight.
I would also like to have another baby. I would like for him to have a sibling for so many reasons. I always wanted 4 but ill settle for 2 ???ƒ
Great job on your new start!! I hope in 4 weeks I can have a successful weight loss like you!

Hi Suzanne! Yes, I initially checked in on here quite a bit at the beginning. I didn't post a ton but read everything! I think it was encouraging seeing other people struggle with the same issues I had. Also it was helpful knowing I was doing things right and being able to give advice or kind words to someone who was struggling worse then I was.
I think it's a good step reconnecting to the stories on this board and finding people who know my struggles! If you would like a buddy to vent to, I'm here!

That's great weight loss Marly! Congrats on that!! I bet you will be able to pick up right where you left off! . I was unfilled for about 7 months since the slip happened during pregnancy and they wanted my body to adjust to not being pregnant before restarting the process. I was also a pretty slow/normal loser...took me 2 years to lose those initial 100 pounds so that's all I can think about with restarting my journey...2 years!
