  1. I wanted to drive "home"...about 1200 miles after surgery and recover there with my family since i'm going to be taking alot of time off from work...my doctor advised me not to...the risk is too high for blood clots and if something were to happen i would be way to far away to get to him in a timely manner...so i would definetly ask your doctor. i REALLY wanted to go but i'd rather be safe and do everything i can to ensure i'll be healthy then to take a major risk and cause serious problems.

    freaking out!

do you move yourself to the other bed? yeah still freaking out a little bit! i've never had any sort of surgery and i'm soooo scared of the process...i don't want to be in so much pain afterwards that i'm second guessing myself. i know the pain will go away but for some it seems to last a long time. i'm pretty healthy person...never really sick...and now i'm going to do this to myself...

    Long car ride?

so here's my question... I live in Iowa and due to insurance I have to have my surgery done in Minneapolis. I have to stay overnight and the doctor said it would be ok for me to drive home the next day...it's about a 3.5 hour drive. well I'm taking alot of time off...mainly just because I can...and because I've never had any sort of surgery and I don't know what to expect. SO anyway...my actual "home" (where my family is) is in Montana... Do you think I would be Ok to sit in the car for 20ish hours to drive to Montana to be with my family while I recover? My husband would be driving...my thought right now is that I can just load up on pain medication and sleep???? but again, I've never had surgery so I have no idea! any suggestions would be helpful! thanks!

    Long car ride?

so i thought i would follow up and let you know that my doctor said he would not advise it...the risk for blood clots is to high and if something were to happen i would be way to far away...so looks like i'll be hanging out at home! that's ok, i'd rather be safe then sorry! thanks for all thoughts on the subject!

    I'm So Excited!

Yes! I have 2 labs a chocolate and a black lab. and I must admit my chocolate lab is my baby! he's always right by myside. Our black lab is alot more independent and only wants attention when she wants it but our chocolate is an attention hog and he needs constant love! must be a male thing!

    I'm So Excited!

So I Got my date today...February 28th!! it could have been the 21st but that's a little short notice for work!! 2 weeks, 2 days!! yay!!
  11. I have completed all requirements for my insurance company and surgeon except for one. lose 10 lbs. I've lost 4...not too bad. However I meet with my surgeon tomorrow and then they will submit to the insurance company. I have UHC and through my plan you have to talk to the same person everytime who is a nurse who also with approve/deny your surgery. She said she would have an answer within 3 days! holy cow! anyway if that's the case then by friday feb 8th I should have some sort of answer. so that means I really need to lose the last 6+ lb. So my question is for those of you who went on a pre-op liquid diet...what did you eat? and how often? breakfast, lunch and dinner? were you hungry? did you feel as if you needed to snack and if so what do you snack on? Thanks! Allison
