    --------------------

    No less then 1971 calories per day recommended for safe consistent Weight Loss. This is no more than;

65 grams of fat (30%) for your Weight Loss Caloric Rate

74 grams of Protein (15%) for your Weight Loss Caloric Rate

271 grams of carbohydrate (55%) for your Weight Loss Caloric Rate

At this safe consistent Weight Loss Caloric Rate, you will lose 1 pound every 7 Days

    -------------------

I am currently running at about 1300 cal/day (only had 1 fill so far), doing horrible on Protein (maybe 40g/day) and carbs are around 50-70g/day

im down 50 lb since 10/20/05 and am going in for a fill next week!

  2. sounds like you may not be eating slow enough - does it take you roughly 30-45 min to finish a meal? when you finish the plate you've protioned out are you actually "hungry" (stomach growling etc.)? or do you just not feel full?

I hardly ever feel full, i dont want to get there because I'm scared of throwing up. I take a long time to eat and make sure i start with Protein then veggies, I realize after about 25-30 min that I'm tired of eating and not hungry anymore, so i stop.

but it is different for everyone

  3. checking in... I wonder how much the ladies of LBT would pay for us to release (or not release) the "Men of LBT" Calendar. I'll take december with a scarf and tassle...

    * note that tassle is not plural.

i'm coming down quick, check my sig I'm 1lb away from 50lbs lost which is when i'll change it.

  4. I didn't eat the amount i "could" just because i "could". my doc said to stick to roughly 1/4 to 1/2 cup.

    I'd eat the following

1/4 cup egg beaters with a small amount of cheese

small mashed potatoes and gravy from KFC

Pintos N cheese - taco bell

    Light N fit yogurt - 4oz size

    natural applesauce pack - 4oz

    Soups of all kinds

and of course popsicles and water!

of course I was running at about 5-600 calories/day which I was told was a bit low... I'm on solids now and going at about 800-1000/day

maybe I was overzealous but it did pay off in a huge return of a 40lb loss.

  5. I didn't really delineate between "meals" while on liquids, except to try to have a savory type flavor (chicken broth).

    during liquids I had:

    Water

    crystal light (not pre-mixed)

    broth - low sodium

    J-ello - sugar-free

    sugar free Popsicles

    Protein shake

I see alot of people have listed things like Gatorade, and other high-calorie drinks - while these may taste a little better they are detrimental to your actual weightloss because they don't allow you to "detox" from the processed sugars.

    good luck!

  6. I had my surgery 10/20 and 6 days later was down 23 lbs - just weighed again this morning and am down a total of 35 lbs - I have been following the directions pretty closely - liquids and mush that are low-calorie, low-no sugar. Here is an example of the foods I've been having during the mush phase:

Motts Natural Apple Sauce - no sugar added - 3.9oz

Yoplait Light Fat Free Yogurt - Harvest peach or strawberry - 4oz

    Knudsens Low-fat cottage cheese - 2-3 oz

Egg Beaters w/light cheese and butter spray - 2-3 oz

    various low-fat Soups

When eating out: (adding sour cream for flavor and to liquify the food more)

Wendys Baked potato w/sour cream & cheese - only eat 1/3-1/2 - no skin!

Taco Bell - Pintos N Cheese w/sour cream - can eat about the whole thing

Strings Italian - any ricotta cheese stuffed Pasta - eat only stuffing and skip the Pasta - sauce is ok!

other places like steakhouses - just get Soup or mashed potatos and have a tiny plate.

Protein shake - Instantized whey, Gold Standard - 8oz/twice a day

    stats including fat-free milk: Fat-1g, Cal-210, Carbs-16g (only 3 from powder), protein-33g

I haven't added exercise yet but plan to sometime this week - I go in on Friday for my "official" weigh in on the docs scale - and I think they'll take me off of mush then as well.

Hopefully this helps someone. by the way I am only having 1 of the foods listed as a meal not combining any of them.

  7. OK - so i'm happy and sad now.

Happy to see that if I'm like the rest of you I can still have a small amount of TB in the future!

Sad to see what i was putting in my body - here's what I would normally have on any given trip to TB - probably more if I wasn't with my wife :-(

    ITEM.....................CAL.......FAT.......CARB........Protein

    Soft Taco..............210........10g........21g..........10g

    Steak Quesadilla.....540........31g.........40g..........26g

    1/2lb bean burrito....600........21g.........82g..........21g

    DD Taco Supreme....380........18g........40g...........15g

    Sour Cream x2.........90..........8g..........2g............2g

    (soft taco and burrito)

    Totals..................1820.......88g........185g..........74g

This isn't even including the new crunchwrap supreme that I'd fallen in love with - its not listed so add that to these totals for probably about another 5-700 calories - lets call it roughly 2500 cal in one meal - I'd eat there 3 times some days... wow, thank God for the band.

  8. 1st week was good - hard to stand after the surgery - had to have a catheter (eck) - as far as eating goes, I wasn't hungry at all - just sipping Water and eating my crushed ice kept me pretty busy. your stomach will hurt at the incisions but not a lot since you stay drugged up for awhile - after that the only hard part is using your abdominal muscles to help sit, lay back, stand, etc. as they are still healing.

Oh and as I'm typing my wife reminded me about the gas - the gas is the worst!!! but the pain meds do help! you'll be so ecstatic when you release your first gas - either burp or the other side - feels soooo good.

    is that TMI?

  9. Then: 2 mcchicken sandwiches, 1 filet-o-fish, Super Size fries, Super size Diet Coke, medium or large choco shake...... then a few hours later - repeat.

Then: Half of a large pizza (8-10 pcs total) and 4 garlic twists, huge diet coke or rootbeer - wow. thats like 10,000 calories.

now: had 2 tbsp of egg beaters for Breakfast and it filled me up for about 5 hrs

lol - of course im still on mushies too...

  10. Mydoc gave me a laminated card that says something like... "The holder of this card has recently undergone stomach suregery and is on a modified diet - please allow him/her to order from the children's or seniors menu. Additionally please be willing to blend any food they request as it eases the digestion process"

and on the back is the doctors name & contact info...

I'll be using that when we go out tonight.

  11. Thanks for the encouragement all!

Had my first day of Puree foods... here's how it went

Water throughout the day - some crystal light too...

Breakfast - 2 Tbsp Non Fat cottage cheese

snack - missed it - but should have had a Protein shake

lunch - 2 Tbsp chicken spread - really good! low fat low sodium...

    Snack - 3 Tbsp J-ello

dinner - 1/4 cup cheese Soup - tastes like the cheese on mac & cheese

Snack - will have Protein Shake

:-) felt full after my chicken stuff at lunch... crazy

  12. Well I had to share with you guys!!!

I had my first weigh in today at my post-op visit (was banded 10/20). They took my bandages off of my suture sites as well (gross)

So I started at 365 on the day of the operation

    Weigh in today: 342!

    23lbs Baby!

I'm stoked, I had figured on 8 and my wife said 10 but neither of us expected 23! I know it will slow down and most of that is probably Water weight, but still! what a great start!

to top it all off, I finally am able to burp!!! let out about 5 really good ones and relieved a ton of pressure

Also, they graduated me to the Puree stage of the diet - where I'm to stay for 2 more weeks. I'm going to add in excersize as soon as I feel up to it.

    WOOHOOO!!!!!
