I only lost 5# on my pre-op liquid diet. But it's been 16 days since my sleeve now and I'm a total of 25#s down.

Fully knowing that the surgery is not a magic fix, I am looking forward to feeling like my body and mind are working together instead of at cross-purposes. It might be nice to have a holistic approach instead of the "white-knuckle approach."

Thank you @@Kindle for the share. I lost weight (75lbs) about 10 years ago and was able to keep it off for 6 years , until I got pregnant with my son. I have always tried to eat right. Surprisingly, my problem isn't junk food, donuts, chips, or anything like that. It's more Portion Control. My appetite increased when I got pregnant and it never stopped increasing. I never felt full. I don't know what lies ahead but I appreciate all information from all perspectives. I don't want to go into this not being as prepared as I can be with my expectations. At this point, I've been trying the 1200 calorie diet, it's just not working anymore:( I'm praying this surgery will get me to where I was and I will maintain from there.

Just in case anyone was thinking WLS is the golden ticket, please make sure you read this article. Not meant to discourage, just think everyone needs to know what lies ahead. Truer words could not be spoken.....

The preop is no harder than maintenance and maintenance goes on forever. This is all about the changes you make in your head, not about what the surgeon does to your stomach.

I want to encourage anyone who may be anxious or nervous or think that they will not get approved because I was all of those things .I did stay in prayer and I know whatever God has for me will be. Being approved ..were my prayers being answered and one of the best days of my life. I just wanted to scream and cry and shout. Now that my life will be forever changed I know that I will have to do my part to keep this new life style.

I'm at the beginning of my 6 month supervised weight loss. I agree completely! Why are you making me lose weight prior to surgery when that is the reason I want the surgery? I've been told BS how insurance companies want to see how well you do with a structured lifestyle similar to the one after surgery. To me I'm just continuing living a miserable life for 6 months. Also I asked my dietician about losing too much weight and my BMI not being within range for insurance coverage. She told me if it gets close to below the range that there are ways to maintain that BMI prior to surgery.

I lost about 60 in my preop period. It turned out to be about 11 months due to a little cancer Detour. I found that checking in monthly and starting to practice the habits I need to use now really helped me.
I had a few people ask why I still went through with the surgery when I had done so well without it. Well, that's where the reality hits. I know with my history, that I wouldn't be able to maintain it forever without the tool of WLS.

I've lost 8 lbs since my initial visit on Jan 14. I'm in the 6 month phase for final approval from insurance. The surgeon told me up front that my BMI was too high and I would have to lose at least 50 lbs before he would do the surgery.

I'm in my 6 month supervised time in order to qualify. Curious about how much people lost during this time. I've lost 2 lbs . I mean the reason why I decided on this surgery was cause I wasn't able to lose weight on my own anymore. I've battled obesity my entire life. Going up and down. Losing them gaining. These past 2 years.. I can't lose anymore. It's like my body shut down.
