  1. I had my lapband 10 years ago. It has worked well overall. There were times that I would eat too much and throw up but it was occasional. Now I have been having some problems. A recent endoscopy revealed intestinal metaplasia. The doctor suggested removing the band and I answered why would I want to do that? That was before the biopsy came back. He did not tell me anything more.

My surgeon is in a different state. Has anyone had this problem? I’m wondering if I just have the Fluid removed, is it possible that my situation would repair itself? It is obviously pre cancer but I don’t want to wait for full blown cancer.

  2. There is always room for one more. Welcome! Dr. Lahmann was my doctor too. He is wonderful but did you know that Dr. Lahmann and Dr. Joyce both attend every surgery. You get two excellent surgeons for the price of one.

I am sure you are getting excited and perhaps a little unsure of everything. It has been almost 15 months since I had my surgery. My only regret is that I did not do it sooner. Best Wishes on your surgery and keep us posted.

  3. It's been a wonderful experience. My overall health is so much better than it has been for many years. Somehow I have trouble believing that I am a senior citizen because I feel so healthy. I am wearing the same size clothes my 36 year old daughter wears.

Yet, there is a small voice in the back of my head saying "Will this last or be like the other times you have lost weight and regrettably found it again"? I hope it will last. I think it will last. I know it will last!

  4. Wow NormaRae - you look fantastic! Can you believe it - Last year at this time I was hopeless - I was even afraid to think the LAP-BAND® would help. But it has.

Congratulations on getting below goal. You must be very proud of yourself:thumbup:

Thanks for your kind words. You are right...what a difference a year can make.

You are doing very well yourself! Doesn't it feel good!!!

  5. Hi Giddyup!

Sorry to hear about your knee. I have not been to the last couple of support meetings for various reasons. Miss seeing you! How are you doing with your horses?

My problem at this point is getting my Protein in. It is so easy to grab the wrong things to eat and you do need to sit down and take time for most Proteins. Bad habits are so easy to get into. Now that I am pretty healthy I can't let those bad habits get hold of me.

You were looking really good the last time I saw you. Slow weight loss at this point is not so bad. It may make it easier for your body elasticity to keep up with the loss. Hang in there! Just think how good you feel/look compared to a year ago.

  6. Hi,

I am still here and doing well. Still hoping to find as accountability partner to exercise with? Anyone? Yes, I love Dr. Lahmann. He and his beautiful wife are expecting baby # 4 sometime in September 09...

My company, Century 21 ProTeam, 1020 Essington Rd. in Joliet is doing a community service project on 10-24-09 between 11 and 2 pm. It is a pumpkin fest with lots of free stuff for the kids including a petting zoo and pony rides, hot dog lunch, games, face painting....all totally free. Our doctors are helping by sponsoring. Please bring your kids out for a really good time.

  7. Hey everyone...glad you found the thread. It is great to think about...

I told hubby I want a TT and Breast Lift for my 40th birthday. I just turned 35, but I figure I will get a free consultation for my 39th so it is only 4 years away. By that time I should just have my surgery paid off! YAY! My size 12 pants are getting looser. I can't wait to fit into a size 10. One of my goals is to be a size 9 in '09.

I do like the idea of pictures. I just got a head shot done, but maybe an official full body picture is in order. I would LOVE to be at goal by then, but that will really be pushing it even if I keep a good pace. I am blessed at my current weight. I keep thinking about where I was one year ago. How it felt to sit in my chair to watch TV and sit in a chair and not be able to cross my legs. I remember a year ago sitting in the bleachers and feeling like a toad on a log just sitting there with my shoulders hunched over trying not to make eye contact because I didnt' want anyone to feel like they had to talk to me. Tonight I went to my sons' football scrimmage and everyone kept commenting how good I looked, and damn it...they are right! :)

Fabulous! Great story and you look really really good!

  8. My bandaversary is October 14th. I plan to Celebrate by having a new picture taken for my business cards. Surely that involves getting a new business attire and having my hair done. It's time to show off the new me.

I am beginning to learn how to eat out a little easier. When I was a kid mom would say "your eyes are bigger than your belly" which meant that you took more food than you could eat. That is true for me much of the time now. Ordering only sides at restaurants usually is best for me now. I actually save money and avoid littering my fridge with white boxes that eventually fill my garbage can with the food still uneaten.

I feel so much better than I did a year ago. I have more energy. My daily intake of pills is CO Q10 and Vitamins. I can and do exercise more (still not as much as I should). People are reacting to me in a more positive way possibly because I look better, have more self confidence and feel generally better about myself. Those are plenty of reasons to celebrate!

    Congrats to all of us!!!!

  9. Hello all,

After a bit of a traumatic post-surgery time, I am now doing a lot better. I have lost 27 lbs (hey, concidentally I was banded on July 27!).

Thanks again for just being here and posting very helpful and informative info!:)

Wow! That is excellent for a month. You must feel fantastic! Good job girl!

  10. I'M OVERWEIGHT! I want to shout it from the rooftops! I am overweight! NOT MORBIDLY OBESE, NOT OBESE. I am OVERWEIGHT! BMI less than 30! YAY! Finally

I love it! You look great too!

At my last weigh in they said that I am "normal"...I know that is wrong but what the heck...I will take it. As long as I can remember I've been only an "L" away from normaL, pretty sure that won't change unless I have a name change.

Shout it out Julie! You so deserve it.

  11. Hey there,

You are doing fine. The point is for your weight to go down, to get healthy and to feel good! You are doing all those things. We don't all lose at the same rate. Obviously we have different life styles. Keep doing what you are doing.

  12. Hi Norma,I decided to write to you as I have been watching your incredible success! Please tell me how you eat and stay focused! thanks, laura

    Thanks Laura,

I have done ok losing weight but I think I may need to have some Fluid removed. Really, I am not a good example at all. Up until probably late February I was consistently eating the right things. Since then I have not been very faithful about getting all my Protein in. Dr. Joyce and Dr. Lahman have developed their own combination of Vitamins. I am faithful about taking them and CQ10 since I know I am not getting all the nutrition I should from my food. Please don't follow my lead. I still have a Protein Shake for Breakfast most of the time. I also have an activia every morning. That seems to help with Constipation. Unfortunately my sweet tooth for ice cream wins at least once a week. I eat a lot of cheese. I have chili frequently. Fortunately I love fish and it fits the recommendations well. Usually for dinner, I have whatever the rest of the family is having but much less of it. My band won't let me overeat. My band is probably too tight. I have had some episodes of pb's and I don't like that so I stop eating before it gets to that point most of the time.

There are a lot of people on here who follow the program as they should and they will probably have the best long term success. Everyone is doing so well and sharing lots of good advice.

  13. I am not so sure about cause and effect. I am a part time realtor. I am far busier than I was before my lapband. It could be that clients react better to me because I look better but it could be that my improved self-esteem is the reason clients are more responsive. Maybe it's just that I am becoming more established as a realtor. I guess I should not wonder why and just enjoy.

  14. Yes, two months seems like a long enough time. It seems that doctors and plans are so much different. I see my surgeon often. At first it was maybe once a month...more in the first 2 months...and now every 3 months. My realize band is either 8 or 9 cc, I have forgotten which. I am filled to a bit less than 7.

I do have pb's when I eat too fast. By now you would think I would not eat too fast...it's just the way I live and always have.

Try the big E for a couple of weeks and see if that breaks the plateau. If that doesn't work the only thing I would know to do would be to see the doc.
