  1. Hi Ellinida,

I hope you are doing well and have had your surgery. I have not been to a support meeting for some time. I guess I have been busy. It sounds as if you have gone through some difficult times. Here's hoping that 2010 and the new you will be the new beginning of a more joyfull life!

  2. I do know where you are located now. When is your surgery? Best Wishes! It truly changes your health and your life!

  3. WOW! What happened? Why didn't you have the surgery? Are you planning to have it in the future? I am not sure where the WOODLANDS are? My dh thinks it may be near Essington and Theodore on the south side of Theodore?

  4. Hi Cyndy,

How are you doing now? I hope you are well! I did go to the Oct, support meeting. It was packed. Were you there?

I went to my one month appt on 11/05. Doc did my first adjustment right then. Have you had one yet? Sure hope I can meet you at the next support meeting.

  5. Sorry it took so long to get back to you. Somehow I missed the pm. All buy oldest knew I was going to have it. My oldest son's wife works in the medical profession and is quick to tell me what I should or should not do. I really did not feel like having her extoll the virtues of an exercise regime so it was just easier to let them know the evening before surgery via email. It was a done deal by the time they read the email.

How are you doing? I am sorry I forgot the date of your surgery? Who is doing it? I know you are close to the Ottawa hospital. Do they do it there?

I have so much respect for you and how busy you must be with your special children. Let's keep in touch.

  6. Hi Cyndyg,

Of course I am familiar with Marseilles. We were there on Saturday. It was such a beautiful fall day we wanted to drive along the river and enjoy the view. We went through Glenwood Farms while we were there. We camped there for several years and just wanted to see how it had or had not changed.

Tomorrow morning is my surgery. I guess I should let my adult kids know I am doing this before I go to bed.

Good luck with all you are doing to make yourself healthier.

  7. Chin up CyndyG. Thanks for writing to me. I was starving at first on this mostly liquid diet but I am not having any problem with hunger at this point.

I did go to the last support group where they had the clothing exchange. I found the people to be great and very helpful. I love this web site but I do read somethings that I don't think fit into what we are suppose to do on our 2 week pre-op. I get tempted but don't do them. I want my liver to be as skinny as can be.

Where do you live? I look forward to meeting you one day. Your little girl looks like a lot of fun. I have 10 year old grand-daughter. They are probably close in age. Kids are the best!

  8. I know, there is so much to read that we can't remember it all. I started the pre-op diet on 10/1/08. The first 2 days were the hardest. Surgery for me is 10/14...How about you?

  9. Yikes, I never thought about trouble getting in and out of bed. I appreciate the understanding about not wanting to tell some folks. How are you doing by now? People at work must be asking how you lost so much weight. Has the weigh loss change your relationships with people? If so, for the better or not?

  10. Good luck with everything. I will looking to see how you do on Tuesday. My name is Norma.

  11. Wow...your message is encouraging. I am hungry all the time. I look forward to the hunger stopping. I have had what I think are hunger headaches. Does that get better too?

  12. Hi,

Although you are younger than I am by a decade I think our journey to a new life maybe similar. I was 216 at my heaviest but was able to lose nearly 20 lbs before I finally got insurance approval. Hope you don't mind if I add you to my contact list?

  13. Hi Magaines,

I am very interested in your journey. My situation seems to be similar to yours. My last weigh in was 196.5 with BMI of 35.2. I just received my insurance approval and my surgery is scheduled for 10/14/08. What I am experiencing is a bit of fear mixed with excitement. There are a few people that I have not told that I am approved and scheduled because I know they will try to talk me out of doing this and/or tell me I should do this or that. Did you have people try to discourage you from having the surgery? If so, how did you handle it?
