Self-Fill are you doing this?
I never heard of it - knowing me - I would be injecting saline into my belly - not the band!

Can you eat anything?
I have only had 1 fill so far (4 cc in 14CC BAND) but ever since I was able to switch to solid foods 4 weeks after surgery, I have been able to eat anything. I still need more resteriction because I am hungry every 2 hours like clockwork but my meal portion sizes are smaller than BEFORE the surgery. I haven't tried regular bread and don't plan to - I have had toasted bread with no problems. Do you think this willl last? I do chew alot and eat slow - is that why I can eat anything? I would be estatic if I will always be able to eat everything - I just want to stay fuller for longer periods.

14cc band - what is your sweet spot?
So far - eating slower for me is the key! I found a WW Calzone in my freezer the other day - I decided that if I'm gonna eat it - I should do it before I get more fills. I just took it slow and had no problems.

How are the banded Notorious Novembers???
Wow - your doctor is very aggressive with fills - I just got my first (he made me wait 6 weeks) and I just made another one for 3 weeks from now. I really need more restriction!!!

Noble was fine - the office said that I could either get the surgery done at Noble on 11/19 or wait for an opening at Baystate which would be in December. I lucked out also because both doctors were doing the surgeries together that day. It's a small hospital - I didn't have any health issues that's why I was chosen to go there. Meanwhile, Tufts was VERY quick in approving the surgery. Lisa - share your story about how your sister in law went for her fill - I still can't believe it!

14cc band - what is your sweet spot?
It's weird because I am eating every 2 hours - my meals are small because I do have some restriction but I'm always ready for a snack with-in 2 hours like clockwork. I also have been able to eat anything - all foods are going down (I just take it slow & easy). That is what I want though - just to eat smaller portions.

KDM - Not to worry you but my insurance was approved (by Tufts) on 10/3 and they couldn't get me in until 11/19th. I just assumed that I would be banded with-in 2-3 weeks of approval. I would have had to wait until December to have the band done at Baystate but they were doing "low risk patients banding" at Noble Hospital on Wednesday's. I go to Dr. Fiallo.

How are the banded Notorious Novembers???
I was banded on the same day as you -I had my first fill 12/30 and they put 4cc's in my 14cc band. I don't have much restriction yet - I'm still hungry every 2 hours.

14cc band - what is your sweet spot?
My doctor starts off our first fill with 4 cc's - I just had my first one last Tuesday but I feel like I had more restriction before the fill.

14cc band - what is your sweet spot?
It seems like alot of people have 10cc bands. I'm curious about those that have the 14 cc band as to what your sweet spot is.

Hi Kim, my name is Lori and I also have Tufts and did the 6 month program. Dr. Fiallo did my surgery in November. Which program do you have for 2009? Tufts offered 2 different ones this year.

First fill scheduled....3 weeks post op?
My doctor won't do the first fill until 6 weeks - but after the first fill, it's up to us when we want to come back - we can do it every 2 weeks if wanted. I just had my first fill, I can still eat anything but in moderation. I haven't hit my sweet spot yet but I can't eat the portions that I did before surgery.

drinking during meals
My nutritionis told me to wait 1 hour afterwards but if I'm really thirsty, she said it would be ok to take an occasional sip during a meal.
-
Who have you told about your surgery? Why?
My mother told everyone! I told my boss and a couple of my co-workers, then found myself telling more co-workers because of my limitations after surgery. Everyone has been SO supportive. At times, I wish I had not told anyone since I am losing slowly but every time I mention it - the response is that they know someone who had it done and was very successful.

26 days post-op and not losing...
You lost so much weight for the short amount of time since your surgery that you body is catching up.

I Got My Surgery Date...Where Are The November Bandsters?
I'm sorry about your pet. I had to put my 17 year old cat to sleep back in May and I was crying for days after. I had the cat before my son was born. My co-workers thought I was nuts because I couldn't talk about it without crying. After a few months, we adopted a new kitten who has been a little terror but such a joy! And my dog adjusted to the kitten really well.

I Got My Surgery Date...Where Are The November Bandsters?
I found out today (while getting my first fill) that I have a 14cc band and he put 4cc in for my fill.

first fill tomorrow
That is interesting info from both of you - I will be curious to see how I do this weekend.

first fill tomorrow
I had my first fill today - I have been somewhat restricted since surgery 6 weeks ago. I have been able to eat anything - just in moderation. My appetite did increase the last week but I was not eating as much as I had before surgery. I feel restricted today from my first fill - I hope it lasts!
-
Fills?
I just had my first fill today at 6 weeks. I found out that I have a 14cc band and he put 4 cc's in. He said to see how my appetite is over the next week or so - if I'm still eating more than I should be - then to schedule another one.

what foods restrict you the most
I haven't had a fill yet and so far can eat anything. I have had pasta, Lo-mein, fried rice. I have not tried regular bread and don't plan to - I only tried some rye bread toasted and was fine. My appetite is starting to increase but I'm not eating as much as I was before the surgery. I have learned to take it slow. I can't wait for a fill to help me get more restricted. And now that the holidays are over - I need to get back on track!
