  1. I usually order something that makes a good "leftover" for the next day - or an appetizer for a meal. If a restaurant has 1/2 sizes - then I'll order that. I think the servers are thinking that I don't like the meal when they see that I hardly touch it. If they are concerned - then I'll tell them the reason why.
  2. Don't get the fill. You are VERY fortunate to lose 2 pounds a week. I was only losing 2 pounds a month!!! I'm now at 10cc's and finally feeling more restriction than I had been. You are in a spot that it won't be a big deal to wait.
  3. So they didn't give you a hard time about just "showing" up?
  4. How do you sign up for the meeting?
  5. Start the process with Tufts - it won't matter about the doctor. Once you get the letter from Tufts - that's when the 6 month program starts.
  6. I can tell I'm not too tight. At lunch at work yesterday, I was able to eat an entire piece of chicken, some salad and 1/4 c mashed potatoes. I can even eat an entire slice of pizza (over a 30 minute time period). It also has been 5 weeks since my last fill so I could be loosening up a bit but I'm not going back until 7/29. I think I just need to be careful with Tuna right now. If I can get 3 oz of meat in - then I'm not too concerned. Thanks! Lori
  7. Tufts makes you wait - not the surgeon. But once they approve it - it's a very quick turn around. They alson cover the first 90 days of post-op appointments so try to get at least 2 or 3 fills with-in that time since they are free. I was able to do 3 since I didn't have alot of restriction.
  8. Have you checked to make sure your band hasn't slipped? Also, how many cc's do you have now? I don't throw up - just dry heave which is just as frustrating but it only happends occasionally.
  9. I am at 10cc's - I was ablw to eat everything without too much restriction until I hit the 10cc's. I'm pretty good at knowing when to stop that's why I never got sick the first 6 months. One of the problems I was having is my Iron pills - I now have to dissolve them in Water. I can't eat Breakfast anymore like I had been - as long as I wait at least 2 hours after I wake up - then I can have a little something. I can still eat all foods - I actually do very well with Pasta, eggs and pizza - it's meat that I have trouble with. I usually now can only take 3 bites of meat and have to stop. I'm not rapidly dropping tons of weight because I can still eat. last's night's problem was Tuna - I'm realizing that if I eat more than 1oz - watch out!! Jenny - I hate the support meetings now that they combined pre-op & post op but I might go Monday night. Hopefully I'll see you there Lori
  10. No - I'm not drinking - but I'm alot tighter from this last fill. It's not too tight because I can still eat but if I eat too much or food that doesn't seem to agree with the band - it feels like it's stuck - I'm miserable and then I finally dry heave. I'm suprised that nothing is coming up. When I do get that stuck feeling - I'll take a few sips of pineapple juice - usually that will help.
  11. I was banded in November - after hardly having any restriction, I was up to 10cc's in May. I am eating much smaller portions now but if there is a food that doesn't agree with me - I start dry heaving - i never throw up. Wht is that???
  12. I find that if I eat chicken in a salad - it goes down better. Or with cooked vegetables - I just try to make sure that I don't put a piece of chicken in my mouth by itself. The lettuce seems to help me get it down. I can't eat alot of it but it won't get stuck.
  13. I am in the exact same situation as you and am finding it SO frustrating. I sit down to eat a meal and get only get in 4 bites because of the restriction but 45 minutes later, I'm hungry again
  14. That's me also!!! I'm at 10cc's in a 14cc band. I do have some restriction but I get hungry every couple of hours. I also did not have a large BMI
  15. That's not right. I have a 14cc band - I'm now up to 10cc's because I wasn't getting enough restriction. He will fill it all the way if I need it.
  16. I'm finally getting alot of restriction with 10cc in my band and now am having problems taking pills. I'm also eating ALOT less these past couple of weeks so I do try to drink a protein shake if it seems like I'm not getting enough solid protein in.
  17. I have not been able to eat much since I got the 10cc's in my 14 cc band but since I'm not having any problems with fluid - I'm not touching it!! The only think I'm doing different is usually my fill appointments are every 4 weeks - since I'm so tight right now - my next appointment will be 7 weeks after the last one.
  18. I don't like the new format - I really want to be in a meeting with just "post-op" patients - our topics to discuss are totally different than pre-op and there are too many people to really be able to ask questions.
  19. I just got another fill and am up to 10cc's. It was only 2 days ago and boy do it feel it. I didn't even get a chance to eat breakfast this morning - I took an asprin, then my chewable multi=vitamin when it felt like it was getting stuck. Then I took a bite of egg and that was it!! I was 'stuck" and after much dry heaving & finally vomiting - I was wiped out! I stayed on liquids the rest of the day just to be safe. This was my first time actually vomiting in the 5 months since I've been banded.
  20. Wow!! you are one of the lucky ones!!! I have Fiallo who I think is great but am having a hard time with restriction. I just saw him today and am up to 10cc's in my band!! I feel the restreiction but can eatr larger portions than alot of people.
  21. That's so funny - I also had Dr. Fiallo and Danielle with Tufts. You are one of the lucky ones!! I am up to 8 cc's so far and still don't have alot of restriction. So many other people I know have had ALOT of restriction with just 4 cc's. Congratulations!!
  22. I have been fortunate that I don't have any problems with any food except for a 'wrap'. I usually mix my meat with a veggie when I'm chewing it and I'm also able to eat bread. I should clarify that I just got a fill a few days ago - I'm up to 8cc's not and haven't tried bread since this past fill and try to stay away from it as much as possible. pasta - no problem. pizza - 1 slice and I eat it slow.
  23. I finally saw my surgeon yesterday - I am now up to 8cc's. I had gained a few pounds a couple of weeks ago but lost it without realizing it. I told him I was still able to eat anything - some foods slower than others but I was more concerned at the portion sizes that I was able to consume at times. We'll see how 8cc's are.....
  24. You really need to get the water in - it's very inportant and that could be causing your pain. Are you eating creamed soups? those will be more filling for now.
  25. Well, after looking at the poll I see there is still hope. Since I'm already at 7cc's and not restrictred enough, I was happy to see that more people had it with 8 or 9 cc's.
