    LAP-Band Veteran HELP!

I'm a band to sleeve patient. I do like the sleeve but there are quite a few people that have posted who were very successful with the band and revised to the sleeve and their hunger is worse. And those that weren't successful with the band ( myself included) do better with the sleeve. The people who were successful with the band seem to do better with bypass. This is just info I've gotten from other people posting. Good luck to you

    February 3rd Sleevers

Lucky you!! You're doing better than me. I'm only down 24 pounds and mine was 2/4th
  3. There's also another post from Nprcowboy who also had a lot of post - op complications that went on for months. You should read his postings
  4. When my surgeon went over the procedure prior to my surgery, he said the the final step he does is the endoscopy to see on camera to make sure there are no leaks etc. it can't hurt to insist that they give her one. This way they will put the camera down into her stomach to see what's going on. The swallow test is just showing that there is nothing blocking liquid from going down

    Fatigue

Increase your protein shakes. I drank Premier Protein because they are 30 grams each. I drank 3 each day and felt great
  6. The more protein shakes you start drinking, the better you will start feeling. My surgeon only had me do clear liquids for 2 days, once I started drinking my protein shakes, I felt like a wilted flower coming back to life
  7. I hate to alarm you but something is definitely not right. She should be back in the hospital and a doctor who specializes in sleeve surgery should probably do an endoscopy to see what's going on. She should also be hooked up to an IV for fluids as well as an eating tube until they figure this out. Too much time has passed for her not to be getting any better. I would get a different doctor involved. As a mom myself I sympathize what you must be going through. As someone who had the lapband 7 years ago and was revised to the sleeve a few months ago- I'm no doctor but feel very strongly that this is not a normal recovery
  8. I live alone. I had the band to sleeve revision so was expecting a harder recovery. I made sure house was clean beforehand, had liquid Tylenol on hand, protein shakes, jello already made and soup. Get your prescriptions filled before you go home. I didn't get any filled - didn't need them. Recovery was Very Quick. Only took the dog out to go to the bathroom. It was winter, if I had it now I would have taken her for short walks. Had people calling me to see if I needed anything but I didn't.

    Stress and Disappointed

I'm tracking what I'm eating and my calories in My Fitness Pal and it seems to help.

    Belly Full

I start to get nauseous. I don't have any trouble with meat, I can eat 2-4 oz - each meal is different.
  11. I was hoping the pain meds were the culprit but I guess not. I had to refuse pain meds after my sleeve surgery because I remembered how nauseous they made me after my band surgery and it made a huge difference. Hope she gets better
  12. I think I had glue. I never really paid attention because they were covered with Steri- strips.
  13. I find it easier to drink more water when I'm working vs when I'm off. Just take it slow at lunch and you will be fine

    Eating the first time

Every time I eat something new- I can only get a few bites in - then I'm full but the next time I eat that same food, I'm able to eat more. It happened with puréed, regular food. And I'm 2.5 months post op

    TODDLERS

I had my band to sleeve revision on a Wednesday. A friend took my dog for me because I wasn't able to care for my other dog when I had the band years ago. I came home on a Thursday and by Friday told my friend to bring the dog back home. I was feeling fine

    I Want a Drink!

That's my plan too- to have my first drink at home. I didn't tolerate alcohol too well prior to surgery so I need to see how I handle it at home first

    I Want a Drink!

I do think it's too soon but I've read on other posts that what seems to work for those that drink is Vodka w/ ice water and a splash of cranberry juice. Less calories. I haven't had a drink yet but that will be my go to drink but I'll be carrying the Crystal Light Liquid my purse to squirt instead of cranberry juice
  18. My goal is 75 pounds. I'm just 2.5 months post-op and am only down 22 pounds. I expected it to come off slower since mine was a band to sleeve revision and had less than 100 to lose

    Losing TOO MUCH weight?

Before I even began looking into the sleeve ( I had the band) I ran into an old co- worker and saw that he lost a lot of weight. I commented on how great he looked but then hesitated because I started to think ( OMG- what if he's sick) and asked him if everything was ok since he lost so much weight He then told me he had the sleeve so I had a million questions for him since I was considering it. Anyway, the point I'm trying to make is since they don't know about the surgery, they just want to make sure your weight loss was due to dieting, not an illness.

    Complicated Surgery

What is that procedure? Were you originally going in for a band to sleeve revision?

    Rough weekend

Been there. Done that. Just gotta get back on track. I beat myself up too but got right back on
  22. I have been able to eat anything since going from band to sleeve. ( actually, I haven't tried pizza or rice or un-toasted bread or cake yet) but everything that I eat, my portions are so much smaller because I get full. When I had the band, once the food passed I would continue eating. I do agree with a previous post, at work I only get 30 minutes for lunch so I can't eat much but when I'm home, I take longer, therefore can eat more
  23. I would cut back to 25-30 carbs per day
