  1. I was ablw to move to full liquids on day 2 after surgery. maybe you can start adding the protein drinks
  2. I was banded on Wednesday and also had a hiatial hernia repaired. I made sure I stayed active during the day but once theshoulder pain started (after meals) I would take the Gas-X and lie down. Then the gas would start to come out. I did find that if I was eating and started to feel the pain, to stop eating and go back to it later. Take the GasX
  3. That's funny that we had surgery the same day and yet you can start on Wednesday and I have to wait until fFriday. I ended up having tomato soup for lunch and dinner - it was so good - not too creamy so I'm not sure which category it falls under.
  4. I think mine is below my right breast - I was banded on 11/19th and I see a small bulge there. I had just assumed it was going to be lower near my belly button.

    what's up with the flatulence?

Does it seem to happen for you after meals?
  6. You will be able to eat more than expected because you haven't had a fill yet.
  7. I was banded the day after you. I was in alot of pain and made sure I took my prescription pain meds at night and tylenol during the day the first few days. Yesterday was the first day that I took nothing during the day - not even gas-x. I can see how each day is getting a little better. last night - for the first time, I was actually hungry, craving food - protein drinks & jello were not cutting it but I ignored that feeling and realized huw much better I was stasrting to feel. Make sure you are taking your pain meds and moving around as much as you can. Also take something for gas - then try to get some protein drink in - just a little at a time. Good luck!
  8. It's just the gas - it will take some time for it to go down. Mine only swelled at the port site because I do not carry alot of weight in my stomach. I heard that it can take a couple of weeks for the swelling to go down. Just keep walking.
  9. I am 4 days post -op and still in quite a bit of pain. Granted, they found a hiatial hernia and repaired that also. Each day I do get up and stay out of bed for longer periods of time but I think I expected to be fine by now. How long did it take all of you until you felt almost back to normal? I drove for the first time yesterday and my son had to buckle my seatbelt - it was too painful for me to reach to my right. I'm not sleeping as well either because I hate sleeping on my back.
  10. I was banded on 11/19th. I find that when drinking - I'm not feeling full in my stomach but more in my esophogus. Is that what everyone else is experiencing? I only ask because whenever I get a cold, I get that same feeling when eating or drinking - it's like the post nasal drip is clogging up that area and this was way before surgery ever took place. I can't blow my nore right now because it's too painful.
  11. Costco had a really good protein shake - they are 30 grams each - I just tried one tonight and it was the best
  12. Thanks - nothing is coming up - but I have to lie down after a few sips and then I feel better. I haven't been able to drink more than a few sips at a time. I thought I was going slow but maybe not slow enough
  13. I only drink it in place of regular water to get the xtra protein in.
  14. I was told not to worry when my appetite increases and that once I get the fills, then I will be on my way.

    straw???

I was also told to stay away from using straws because of the gas in can cause
  16. I found a great portein drink at Costco! It's called "PROTEIN" by Premier Nutrition. 1 carton =1 serving - 30 grams of protein, 3 grams of carbs, 160 calories. They taste really good!!
  17. For all you 11/19th bandsters - have any of you had a bowel movement yet?
  18. I have been drinking the Speical K protein water - it;s good
  19. MellyB - start sucking on popsicles - it will help with the cotton mouth
  20. I was also banded on the 19th. Today is the first day that I'm able to get up a little more but I'm still in alot of pain. Are you taking Gas X? I would take those for the gas pains and try to get up and walk around your house a few minutes here & there. I'm only taking the prescribed meds at night because of the nausea - Tylenol during the day. I would just keep resting for another day or 2.
  21. Do you have any flat Coca Cola in your house? I always keep a bottle of it in my fridge for stomach bugs - now I will have to drink it flat with the band. That or Canada Dry Gingerale - they need to be regular - not diet.
  22. I was banded on the 19th. I also had a hyated hernia that they repaired during the surgery. (I didn't know I had it but realized after that was the cause of my indigestion/reflux at night). It's day 2 post-op, I'm still in alot of pain. So far I have only been able to get 1 protein drink in. Just not hungry. I can only get up for 5 minutes now and then but have been pushing to walk around the house if I feel up to it. I like hearing the post op stories to see I'm not alone. Thanks!
  23. I understand what you are going through - I'm leaving in a few hours for the hospital - my surgery is this afternoon. I have been going through this journey since January and am so nervous that the day is finally here. I stopped reading the negative posts because they were also scaring me. But I'm ready and willing to take this chance and start a new journey in my life. Good luck to you!
  24. You can get the Gas X Srtips in any supermarket, Walmart etc.. - they are sold near the Tums
  25. I went through that "mourning" period - then I thought "Was food REALLY that good a friend? Look at what it did to me!" Now I'm miserable because of all the weight I gained. Then, I realized that it's worth the chance - I have 5 more days until I get banded.
