  1. I've had the hernia repaired twice. The first time when I had the band - reflux gone!! The second time with the sleeve. It's nothing to worry about but I do get heartburn at night. I take an over the counter pill and I'm fine
  2. I say "screw your surgeon" you are doing great!! But if you are walking 5 miles a day you need to increase your calories to at least 1200. It will also help to jump start your system again but I wouldn't go the junk food route. Maybe a plate of pasta - just for 1 meal and see if that helps.
  3. I like hearing stories about people like yourself who are successful with the revision. Would you mind sharing what you did that was successful to your "almost" reaching your goal. I'm only 4 months out and worried about failing.
  4. Your foods that you have been eating were on my plan starting day 7 post op

    For sleeve veterans

I can eat 3 grilled chicken tenders in 1 sitting and some days can only eat 2. Sometimes I feel like I'm eating a lot but then I realize it's so much less than what I used to be able to eat
  6. Bring some vodka. Use your Crystal Light to make Frozen Lemonade with the Vodka. It's a low calorie drink and you can tell your friends that you just want something healthier

    Pro's & Con's of gastric sleeve surgery?

I had the band to sleeve revision in February. I wasn't that successful with the band but have noticed that the sleeve stops me from eating too much because I'll actually get a little nauseous vs. that stuck feeling. As far as the surgery, for me it was easy. No issues and the recovery was very quick but you should go to the Band to Sleeve Revision section and read the experiences that others have had.

    Permission to Fail

I didn't dare go off track while my stomach was going through the healing process. Now, for special occasions I'll have a little bit of something without going too crazy. These past few days I've been getting hungrier so I've been eating SF Jello to stop me from wanting to "snack"
  9. As I have been reading the posts the past few months I saw how first time Sleevers had issues with certain foods. As someone who had revision surgery- I'm not having any issues. I waited a few months before trying things - I had my first cupcake for my sons birthday - no issues. ( I was only able to eat 1/2). Had my first popcorn at the movies - no issues ( split a small with my son- no butter) last night I had my first Subway sandwich- 6 inch flatbread. Had no problems ( took me 45 min to eat it and I was stuffed the rest of the night). I'm curious as to others- have any food issues since the revision? I have no plans to make this the norm for me, I knew that his birthday week I was going to be the 1 week I splurged ( still lost 2 pounds- before the subway sandwich)
  10. The only bread I've eaten ( besides the flatbread - toasted) is a sandwich thin toasted. I don't want to try regular bread, I want to eliminate that for now. Some days I feel my appetite increasing and some days not so much. I do get full pretty quickly but some days I'm hungry within 2 hours of eating. Other days I'm forcing myself to get the calories in

    Snacks

I would stay away from the popcorn, chips etc. Nuts are the closest to junk food I'll go but I did split a small, non- buttered popcorn at the movies last week with my son and was fine. Dannon Light & Fit Greek Yogurt has a chocolate raspberry flavor that I love. And I'll buy Atkins snacks/candy because it's lower carb. Celery with peanut butter or an apple with peanut butter is yummy and very filling
  12. I put flavor packets in all my water bottles. I either get Crystal Light or the Walmart brand or the Target brand. It gives me a nice variety
  13. That's the reason why I was anxious to get my band to sleeve revision done ASAP ( had it in February) mine did my band and I only trusted him and wanted him to do my surgery while he was still living here ( I think he's too young to retire but he can always move out of state). Look on the bright side, he got that damn band out of you and was able to do the sleeve before he retired.

    Help stuck

When I had the band, every time I got a fill the doctor had us only drink liquids/ protein shakes for the first 24 hours. I was never able to eat chicken plain but if it was cut up into a salad, them it was easier for me to eat
  15. I'm a band to sleeve revision. It's too early for me to talk about long term results but I have a neighbor who had the bypass and has gained a lot of her weight back. Both options are not going to lose the weight for us - we need to take advantage of this wonderful tool that has been given to us
  16. I kept eyeing a can of lays stack chips that were in my cabinet. About 6 weeks post op I came home one day and ate 1/2 the can. Then I finished it off during the week but had trouble getting more than 4 chips down each day. I no longer keep anymore junk food in the house - don't want the temptation but I no longer have a craving for those chips ????

    Corn?

I had a 1/2 of corn on the cob twice last week - no problems. I'm also 3.5 months post op. But I'm also a band to sleeve revision and have not had any problems with any foods
  18. Re: the bad habits. I was doing really well with the band until I had a fill that was too tight. That was the beginning of the slider food phase that lasted me 2.5 years until I had my revision this past February. Now that I'm on a new path AGAIN- I'm praying that I don't slip back. The only thing I do know is that I won't be going in for an adjustment for the sleeve so there is no reason for me to go back to slider foods.
  19. I too was torn for my sons birthday last week. I usually get a small cake that last us a few days. This year I bought each if us a cupcake that was decorated to look like a mini cake. This way I could have my cake ( which I love) but it was already portioned for me.
  20. @ssourgirl- I saw my surgeon today and briefly mentioned your daughters situation. He thought it sounded like she has "structure"? - meaning that her sleeve just might be too tight. I haven't seen you post in a couple of days, I hope everything is ok. He did say that as her swelling goes down , she will feel better but I'm wondering if the vomiting is stopping the swelling from going down

    Do not compare me..!

It has taken me 3 months to lose 30 pounds. My surgery was a band to sleeve revision. Yes my weight loss has been slow but it's been consistent with no stalls. One of my co- workers had the nerve to shove a before & after picture of her cousin who had weight loss surgery the same time as me and had already lost 65 pounds and began to tell me that I'm not dieting correctly!! Never mind that her cousin is 15 years younger than me & was heavier than me in her before picture. Plus, she wasn't sure if she had bypass or the sleeve. Sorry for such a long rant but boy did she piss me off!!

    Do not compare me..!

I'm happy and realized that she is just one of those coworkers that you can't discuss this with. So now I keep our conversations work related

    Do not compare me..!

Everyone has been really supportive. This woman lost some weight on her own and now acts like a self righteous bitch. She's been saying things to other people too about their diet & exercise and is pissing off others at work. I was happy to see it wasn't just me she was attacking
  24. 50 pounds in 5 months is great. Be proud!!

Is it CHEATING or is it a CHOICE?

That's how I look at it. No one is forbidding me to eat some of the things I shouldn't ( then I would want it more ????) it's been " my choice" not to eat it
