    It worked!

Jamie, I was definitely shooting for the moon thinking id get through 4oz. My nut book says 4oz of meat, and the label said 21grams of protein so I was sooo excited. I can eat 5oz Greek yogurts so I guess I thought that 4oz would be a breeze. NOPE, said the grouchy pouch. Funniest thing? My mom, who weighs 125 pounds soaking wet and has never been big her entire life polished off three pieces of bread and butter, a cup of cheesy rice, green Beans and twice the turkey I had on my plate BEFORE I got through my measley 1.3oz of turkey. Lol. My nutritionist told me to eat every 3 hours and has me end my night with a dessert of either SF Jello, pudding or an Atkins bar or Atkins candy. I do find the Atkins bar really hits the spot for the night. I don't eat the "meal bars" just the snack ones and only have them 2-3 times a week.

    discouraged

I'm a week behind you and have only lost 19 pounds. I'm losing slow but I'm losing every week. Don't be discouraged. You've lost twice as much as me. Your body just needs time to catch up. Technically, you are at an average weight loss of 4 pounds a week which is fantastic!!!

    Band to.....

I revised to the sleeve. Before I had the band in 2008, I had horrible reflux!! During band surgery , the surgeon told me I had a hiatal hernia which he repaired and reflux was gone. In my 5th year with the band I started getting a throbbing in my chest - after X-rays etc. I had reflux again so he removed some of my saline and I felt fine again but was already gaining my weight back. I was sleeved 2/4 - he repaired another hiatal hernia during surgery but this time I was getting reflux after the surgery. I bought an over the counter antacid, took it every night before bedtime and I was fine. Only did it for the first month. Now I only need it occasionally.

    Food Intolerances

I haven't had any problems yet. But I haven't had desserts or pasta yet. I was able to eat bread with the band as long as it was toasted. I have had a 1/2 of a sandwich thin toasted - no issues but I'm too full after the 1/2. I'll put tuna on top. I just chew, chew & chew like I did with the band. I eat slow and I'm fine. Some days I can get 1/2 cup of something in and some just a few bites of the same meal

    10-15 vitamins a day?

    I only take a vitamin c , a multivitamin and a B12 in the am. After work I take a calcium chew. That's it

    Jumping to Conclusions!

Well said. I was talking to one of my friends about that post , I saw that you said " kids meal" and I was telling her- that doesn't mean " fast food" it could have just been a children's size healthy meal. There are days when I'm tempted to stop going on this site. The Thread about Sugar Vs artificial sweeteners was also very heated. I stopped reading that one a long time ago. There have been times I wanted to start a thread about some concerns I have but didn't want to deal with the people that just start bashing you for mistakes we make.

    Band to Sleeve in 2015

You would be perfect to run a support group. I also find your posts very encouraging.
  10. When I read the postings from those that had bypass, they seem very happy. And the same is said for those that had the sleeve. I choose to revise to the sleeve because it seemed more natural for me, I didn't want any re-routing of my organs. I would just read both forums so you can see the different views from people. And talk to your surgeon about the pros & cons of each Oops , just realized your surgeon recommends the sleeve.
  11. I've seen other self-pay posters where the turnaround time is pretty quick compared to those of us that have insurance. Mine only covered 80%

    Is this normal?

I'm 6 weeks out and in the same boat as you- but I was banded before and could eat anything, as long as it was slow. My portion size has decreased a lot with the sleeve. I haven't tried any fried foods, don't plan to either, nor have I tried any desserts but I wouldn't be surprised if I don't have any issues with that either. Those will be saved for special occasions.

    Where is everyone?

I had my surgery the same day!! How have you been doing? My weight loss has been slow , my surgery was also a band to sleeve revision

    Can you feel your band?

I no longer have the band but when I did, the first couple of years I kept getting this feeling on my left side- I could have sworn my band was moving around. It hadn't slipped, I have no clue what it was but I did feel it. It stopped eventually
  15. Best of luck to you!! You will be so happy with it. Feel free to reach out with any questions you might have. My surgery was 2/4th.
  16. I had mine done with Dr. Fiallo but my insurance had me go to Baystate. Mine is a revision surgery, band out and then sleeved. My weight loss is going slow. I would like to go back to one of their support group meetings but I wish they had a Post-op only meeting. There are too many people looking into having surgery at their meetings
  17. She had surgery just a few weeks ago and you think she should just go ahead and "have it!"??? Why don't you just drive her to McDonalds while you are at it. Unreal. Wow!! This forum is supposed to be a place where people can turn to for advice with their concerns & struggles, not to be bashed!!! I was trying to convey to her how I'm trying to look at it differently as not a deprivation but as a choice. MOST of us had the surgery because we have failed at every other diet out there. It's hard to talk with people who have not had the surgery- they don't understand. We might not all agree with everyone but we should be empathetic to everyone's challenge post- surgery
  18. I'm allowed nsaids but sometimes I need to dissolve pills in flavored water so as to not get that " stuck" feeling
  19. I keep telling myself that if I really want it- I can have it! But I AM making the choice not to have it. No one is out there telling me I can't have it ( then I'm going to want it more) . I feel like when I'm choosing not to have something , I actually don't feel as sad about it because it was my choice .
  20. I agree. It sounds like dehydration but as well as drinking, keep nuts handy as well in case it's low blood sugar. I'm sure you will start feeling much better
  21. I didn't have much success with my band but I'm also not dropping 20 pounds a month like I've been reading others are . I'm going to be a " slow loser" and its not been easy. But I keep reading these forums to keep me motivated
  22. How have you been doing? How have you been doing?
  23. Its confirmed- my tastebuds have not changed!! It must be more common with people that only have the sleeve, not revision
  24. Sauté deli roast beef with chopped peppers & onions , top with shredded cheese and it's just like Phylly Cheese Steak without the bread
  25. I had reflux after my surgery. I bought some over the counter stuff and took it before bedtime. I'm 6 weeks post op, I noticed over the past week I wasn't feeling the reflux as much but I still took the pill. Last night I didn't need it- I was fine
