    first fill tomorrow

I had my first fill today - I have been somewhat restricted since surgery 6 weeks ago. I have been able to eat anything - just in moderation. My appetite did increase the last week but I was not eating as much as I had before surgery. I feel restricted today from my first fill - I hope it lasts!

    Fills?

I just had my first fill today at 6 weeks. I found out that I have a 14cc band and he put 4 cc's in. He said to see how my appetite is over the next week or so - if I'm still eating more than I should be - then to schedule another one.
  4. I haven't had a fill yet and so far can eat anything. I have had pasta, Lo-mein, fried rice. I have not tried regular bread and don't plan to - I only tried some rye bread toasted and was fine. My appetite is starting to increase but I'm not eating as much as I was before the surgery. I have learned to take it slow. I can't wait for a fill to help me get more restricted. And now that the holidays are over - I need to get back on track!
  5. Fuze Slenderize has a Cran-Raspberry that tastes great with Vodka - it's low carb & low cal. I haven't had any alcohol yet since being banded but if I drink with friends at home- that will be my drink of choice.
  6. I have to pay the co-pay for a specialist visit which is $25 but after 1/1/09 - it's going up tp $45. I thought that was expensive until I started reading some of the other's posts.
  7. I also can't wait for the holidays to end!!!! I haven't had my first fill yet and while I am still limited as to how much I can eat - I have been able to eat anything!!! There has been too much temptation out there and I haven't been strong enough to resist it all.
  8. Thanks for th advice - I'm not really hungry since that episode
  9. I have been able to eat anything these past couple of weeks and haven't had any problems. I usually have to stop 10 minutes into a meal, wait about 5 minutes and then can go back to finishing it. Today - when I got home from work, I was hungry and ate something too fast - and finally felt that uncomfortable feeling everyone has been describing. I ended up dry heaving over my sink a couple of times and then was fine. I'm definitley taking it easy tonight.
  10. You are very lucky - I hope I feel that way after my fills.
  11. My nutrtionist also said to eat 150-160 grams of carbs a day and I looked at her like she had 2 heads! I haven't had my first fill yet and this has been a tough time of year to be dieting - I haven't checked the scale in over a week because I'm afraid. I'm trying to eat right but am not always doing so. I'm not pigging out like I used to but not always eating healthy either.Actually, I am eating much healthier but every time Im eat carbs - I feel like I'm cheating.

    Banded on Tuesday

I still have 1/2 my pain meds left because I didn't need them after a few days - I also bought liquid tylenol but am able to take the pills still. I had the hernia repair also but only took my meds at bedtime.
  13. You need to drink more protein - and make sure you are getting plenty of fluid in.

What I Love About the LAPBAND

I haven't had a fill yet so I have been able to eat everything so far but am not able to eat the large portions like I'm used to because I do have some restriction. I've been avoiding the scale though because my appetite has definitely increased.
  15. Now that you are ready to get back on track - mashed potatoes and creamed soups can be very filling during the mushy phase. Just make sure you continue to get those protein drinks in during this time. Good luck!
  16. Make sure you drink lots of water! Just water alone will make a difference. Also, have a glass of apple juice and if that doesn't work - eat some dried apricots. I haven't had to resort to the apple juice or apricots yet because I have been regular every day with the water. I also eat either a yogurt or pudding every day so it could be the dairy that's helping.
  17. I was just too tired my first day home so I slept alot. I was so thirsty from not drinking before the surgery that all I wanted was water, otherwise all I did was sleep.
  18. My nutritionis said that until I get good restriction (I haven't been filled yet) to eat 3 small meals and 3 -4 small snacks a day. Just start having some healthy snacks between meals - yogurt, nuts, cheese, fruit etc... She said that eventually I won't be hungry enough to eat between meals but for now - it's OK.
  19. I don't know about you folks but boy is my appetite increasing since the surgery. I had good restriction until last Sunday -now I can't stop!

    Portion Size

My nutritionist says to eat 3 small meals and 3 small snacks (ex: cheese stick, yogurt, fruit etc...) if I am hungry between meals. I haven't had a fill yet....
  21. My nutritionist told me that once I start feeling the restriction and am not able to eat alot of protein, to make sure I get at least 30 grams from protein drinks a day in addition to the food.
  22. At my post-op meeting, one of the girls had made mini pies (individual sizes) and on top of the pie crust was FF pudding blended with FF cool whip. It was delicious and easy to digest no matter what phase post-op everyone was at.
  23. Mine is also a few inches below my right breast. I was expecting it lower but this spot doesn't interfere with my waistband or my bra.
  24. I had my period during surgery and am almost 1 month out. Well, surprisingly, I just got it - right on time!!! I figured it would be late after reading all the posts - I am however, not losing weight drastically fast so that might have something to do with it.
