  1. Hello everyone - just wanted to give my 2 cents.... I was banded on 1/11/08 by Fiallo - I agree he may not have the best bed side manner but he's a great doctor! I had to see Haag once (for an over fill:ohmy: ) and he was SOOOO NICE! So personable! But I like Fiallo, he knows what he's doing!! I am down just over 30 pounds since starting the process last year. I am down about 15 pounds since surgery. I am not losing as quickly as I want to. I think i'm half filled in a 10 cc band. I am going back for a fill in a couple weeks. I feel like i have no restriction at times. I don't feel full after I eat. I know it takes time, but I want it to happen now!!! Good Luck to all the newbies!!!! ANd as always any advice would be great! Thanks!!!

  2. So, I saw the surgeon yesterday. The visit was almost the same as the first one 6 months ago. He said now it is all up to Health NewEngland, which can take 2 days or 2 months for them to approve, after that I will finally have the date that I have been waiting for!! Yaaayyy!!! Has anyone else dealt with health new england for approval??

Had to go today to get the CPAP machine for the sleep apnea that I hope I wont need for long!!

Hi Tammy, I went through HNE!! They did deny me the first time. They told me I did not have the proper 6 to 12 month care by a weightloss dr or something like weight watchers. I did do weight watchers and I continued to see a weight loss dr and we resubmitted after six months and sure enough I was approved in almost no time. Good luck with HNE! Be sure they have everything in order! Let me know when you from them!!! Maryanne

  3. My dr was going to be away so they needed to get me in for another fill which was Monday 3/3

Has someone lost their marbles! You should only get a fill when your doc is available for the next 3 days in case you need them....not get it done and they leave.

LOL!!! tell me about it! There is another dr in the group I could see if I needed to.

  4. Hi kbinaz, I did need the fill. I didn't have much restriction so a fill was necessary. I just ate some cottage cheese - seems OK. I am still having the tightening feeling and still have the heartburn. Is there somethig I can take for the heartburn! I've never had it before and it's so uncomfortable!!!! I feel that I just need to give it time. I'll admit I was nervous to start real food. I'll try more tomorrow. So bottom line, give it time, right? I guess i'm just concerned and I needed to hear what others have gone through and what they have to say. Thanks!!!!!

  5. Hello, I was banded on 1/11/08. I had my first fill on 2/19/08 and it was 3cc's (i have a 10cc band) My dr was going to be away so they needed to get me in for another fill which was Monday 3/3! Thats 13 days after my first fill - I got 2 cc's additional and so I am at 5cc's now. He put me on liquids for the rest of monday and the next 2 days. I did fine with Protein Shakes, broth and carnation instant Breakfast. I did have major heart burn and an aweful discomfort in my chest area when i'd drink. Today, Thursday I had coffee in the morning and some Soup for lunch, it did go down, they only thing thats really bothering me is this pain I have in my chest. it's like a tighening feeling. Is this normal? Maybe i'm overfilled? I keep thinking that it'll get better every day cause I do feel much better than I did Monday evening. I just wanted to get others opinions. I'm keeping foods and liquids down. The heartburn did go away. I'm not burping as much as I was. Should I give it time? My next appt is 4/1. Also, I find that I need to stand while I eat. If I sit It feels like the food doesn't go down but when i stand it goes down fine. I'd appreciate everyones thoughts on this. It helps to talk to others who have the band and may know what it's like to have these problems. THANKS!! Maryanne

  6. hello everyone, i'm new to this forum and joined because I have some concerns afer just recently having the band surgery done on 1/11/08!! I've lost 10 pounds so far and feeling great with the exception of some pain at the port area. After the first week, I felt great!! Then a couple days later, I think I pushed myself to far, I've had pain in the port area. It hurts the most first thing in the morning, after a couple hours it isn't so bad. I work at home so i'm lucky and can relax a bit when needed. I called the dr and they beleive I irritated the sutures that are holding the port in place and the only thing I can do is let it heal... Is anyone or has anyone had the same problem??? Part of me is nervous, part of me is not. The dr doesn't seem to be concerned.... Should I??:tt1:
