Things People Pass Off For Compliments and Things Skinny People Say That Piss You Off

Thanks Kat! -
Am I right to be mad about this? Advice needed..........
MrsFlipFlops replied to nesser081982's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I agree, it was very unethical. HR should act as a third party- not everyone's office buddy. I'd go to the HR manager as well. -
Things People Pass Off For Compliments and Things Skinny People Say That Piss You Off

Can I just say how much I LOVE this thread? Thank you thank you thank you all! :frown: I've got several stories, but the one most prevalent in my mind is about a year ago at church this woman came up to me and handed me a card- she said she had found some miracle weight loss juice and that it was recommended by someone she knew at church (cause that makes it better, right?) and she encouraged me to buy it and I could come over to her house and would I mind if she called me... blah blah blah! I was in shock- I spent the next two hours (because my husband was teaching) in the car crying to my sisters. And since that day, every Sunday I avoid her. Sometimes I can tell she'll see me down the hall and come towards me to talk, and I turn the other way. Kind of mean, but I don't even care! Once I was standing in a mall and a man handed me a weight loss card and said I should look into it. I don't know what it was advertising- I tossed it in the trash. How rude that strangers come up and say things like this! I don't go up to smelly people and hand them soap! I don't give anorexic people a brownie! One last one- when I was a kid, around 12, I liked this boy and was telling my dad about it and I said I think he liked me, you know because boys like curves. My dad said, "Not those kinds of curves." *gasp* Okay, the end. Thanks for listening... sorry I went on and on. :tt2: -
I must admit though, since about a week ago, I've been trying to give more rep when I see something I like, a post, a pic, a cute saying... It's made me more supportive of other people.

Soda soda soda
MrsFlipFlops replied to MrsFlipFlops's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Sorry Molly! :cursing: I was trying to think of all the reasons. I missed one! This makes me feel a little better. Most days I don't miss it, but every once in awhile- I just want to feel that fizz! This week is the first week since my surgery that I've bought it and brought it into my home. Normally my husband will just drink it when we go out or at work or something, but there was a good deal at the store so I thought I would treat him. I think about it everytime I open the fridge, which is probably why it's on my mind. That'll teach me to buy it again.... -
is what i'm feeling gas pains or something else?
MrsFlipFlops replied to RAS_STI's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Sounds like gas to me. Goodness, give yourself a break! You're just a couple days out of surgery. I walked just around my house for about 5 days after my surgery. I once went to the store, but it was painful! Walking is good, but don't try to push yourself so soon after surgery or it will take it longer to heal (the scars will pull). At least that's been the case for me. -
Most Helpful questions asked at seminar
MrsFlipFlops replied to innwtitdtity's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I didn't go prepared with any questions, although I was very grateful for the people who had the foresight to ask questions. The things I found helpful to know are the types of pre surgery tests they'll ask you to do, the average length of time until you're banded, things you can do now to prepare, and of course, do they have any patients you can talk to. My doc brought some after banded patients who spoke to us as well, and they were awesome to get a non doctor perspective. Good luck! -
Starting the research & Introduction
MrsFlipFlops replied to Vidahlia's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Hi and welcome. Good luck with everything! I didn't see my Primary first, or ever actually throughout the process. I think the seminar is a great place to start! -
That's SO exciting! I'm counting down to that too... but I have about 100 more pounds to go.

Is anyone else starting to lose their hair?
MrsFlipFlops replied to Mom2_4's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I've started to thin out myself, but I didn't think it was band related since I get plenty of Protein. My hair dresser recommended using a shampoo/conditioner called Nioxin- and it has worked for me so far! So, if it's not band related... you could always look into non protein solutions. I cut my hair as well. I used to pull my hair back into a pony tail and the front part of my head has really thinned. So I cut it so I have bangs now so I can't pull that back, and it helps to regrow those hairs since they are no longer breaking due to the pony tail. -
I can't praise the powers of Sam's Club enough when it comes to shakes. My fave shakes are the Atkins- but to save money I use the Slim Fast. My doctor sells New whey drinks, which have like, 42g of Protein. A powerful punch! I try not to worry about protein too much once I got out of the liquid stage. I'm pretty good about drinking a shake, eating tune or chicken regularly.

I can't see the rep thing on my User CP, but that's okay... is there a way to view messages left for other people? Like if I wanted to look at someone else's rep?

Just stopping by to say hi. I was looking at the Feb. bandsters since I was banded 2/11. Thought your tag line "At my width's end" was real cute.
Hope today is going well.

I haven't tried a lot of those things since I was banded... but I have tried red meat- sort of. I'm too scared to swallow- so I'll just take a bite of my hubby's, chew until the flavor is gone, then spit it out! lol, I'm so pathetic! I miss red meat.

Don't you hate it when people compare you with GB patients?
MrsFlipFlops replied to nikkikki2292's topic in Rants & Raves
Hm, I haven't had anyone compare me to GB yet. Maybe they're just thinking it in their heads... darn back stabbers. -
This reminds me of when I was in high school and my dad went to a parent/teacher conference. I had gotten all A's except from my English teacher (which was my strongest subject). She asked him why I got a B and she said I was performing at a B level. He asked how many A's she had given out and she said none. He said "I think that's a reflection of you, and not my daughter." The next semester I got an A!

Help!!! How to obtain 5 year history of obesity

I contacted my doctors directly, they faxed, emailed, and mailed my medical records. -
Help!!! How to obtain 5 year history of obesity
MrsFlipFlops replied to Coley21's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Well, my insurance requires it too... but due to my size, I'm pretty sure I was an auto approval. I submitted to my doctor all the medical records I could get ahold of, but I have gone to the dr at least once a year for some issue. How long ago are your childhood records? You've not been to the ER, or Urgent Care places- weight watchers?? -
Am I being UnRealistic?
MrsFlipFlops replied to Marissa's Mom's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I get frustrated too when I start comparing myself to other people. I get envious and annoyed at myself. Don't do that to yourself. I'm learning to only compare me to me. This is way better than what I would have done pre surgery... and still within the 1-2 pounds a week! I struggle too with the same problem and it's a constant battle of the minds! Good luck. -
Three things that are driving me absolutely BATTY in these forums!!
MrsFlipFlops replied to Fanny Adams's topic in Rants & Raves
Fanny- thank you... that actually made me feel better! Stay Tuned- I don't think there's anything wrong with asking questions... just not ones like "There a tube sticking out my side, is this normal?" Those are better to just ask a doctor. lol. Welcome to the forum! -
I don't want religion in schools... I want all theories presented to children and let them choose. How arrogant for you to assume that I don't know what theory means.... I do... doesn't make it fact. Tests derived to "prove" their own theory. Yeah, good science. Do a little reading and research, don't assume everyone else is an idiot. I believe people should worship what they want or nothing, I don't care. What I care about is when people start ATTACKING my beliefs when I hadn't attacked yours.

Oh gag- your "thought" on persecution was implied that you were speaking in general terms. Your mention of ACLU was at the very top of your post before you went on the rant about Christians in general. The ACLU does work against religion. They have attempted to block teaching creationism in schools, prevented moments of silence , etc. Why can't the topic of creationsim be taught as a theory just as evolution is a theory and the big bang theory? How come only two out of three theories can be presented in schools? It's ridiculous! It sounds to be that Christians aren't afraid as atheism- athiests are afraid of Christians. They are actively working against Christianity at several terms! In fact, I don't know how this topic has suddenly turned into an attack on Christianity! Secondly, the rest of my post wasn't directed to you... it was directed to the topic in general. I'll be more clear in my future posts.

Yes yes and yes! Normal. breathing was difficult for about 5 days. Coughing was excrutiating, but a pillow did help tremendously!

Any one out there with PCOS?
MrsFlipFlops replied to SeeShell's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
The specialty groups for PCOS is very informative. I was banded Feb 08 and am looking forward to see how the band plays out with PCOS.
