    GAY Bandsters

Thanks Julie - I do great all day, then get home and yikes - got to eat! I had a runny scramble egg tonight and a little chicken salad, 'cause i read that someone was able to eat that during this phase - i get more willpower as i get close to "B" day - march 18! Your support is wonderful! Thanks from Seattle! Tom
  2. i'm really envious of some of the posts and finding some of you are able to eat real food before lapband surgery. I'm scheduled for March 18th and can hardly wait, but, this 2 weeks of protein drinks, liquids only, broth, sf jello and popsicles are killing me and its only day 4 of it. must admit, i cheated a wee bit, but, headaches were killing me from not eating! Wonder if i follow one of the nicer regimens i have read if my doctor will ever know - :tea:

I got up at 4am - doing great all do - sugar free jello, chicken broth, protein drinks, more sf jello, more broth, more protein drinks, then at 5pm, I couldn't take it and fried 3 eggs and breakfast sausage links - now, I'm bloated and feeling full of guilt - I have to try again tomorrow - will I ever make it to my bandday of march 18th - help!!! what else can I drink to make me feel like i'm eating something!!!!

Protein Loading Before Pre-op Liquid diet

I am having my band done on March 18th at St. Francis Wgt Loss Surgery Clinic, Federal Way, WA (outside Seattle). Last week at the required nutrition meeting (I have one day before surgery as well), we were told to load up on protein and to drink 3 drinks per day, 4 if possible. The protein load up also helps enable a speedy healing process according to the training, so, I've been protein loading and vitamin popping - gulp!!!!

    For Just Us Guys

OK, I've been reading about the tummy tucks - i'm so looking forward to getting my band on mar 18th and loosing the weight - but, the thoughts of hanging skin (not to offend anyone) seem almost worst than being fat - I'm 6'4", 330lb, 50 in waist - any suggestions to avoid hanging skin or is it inevitable? Thanks.

    What to tell co-workers

It is ultimately your decision whether to disclose or not. As nearly everyone has written, you have no obligation to tell your employer anything but you will be absent due to an upcoming medical procedure. For me, I'm so jazzed, I cried it out to the world. The overall response has been, Really? You don't need it! (hmmm!). March 18th is the day for me. I went to COSTCO, got all my vitamins (well, most) will go buy protein whey today to start the Protein Loading my doctor advises to do and only dreading the 2 week liquid diet prior to surgery date. Any creataive liquid recipes out there - lol! Good luck!

    For Just Us Guys

Great news and the best to you. I'm on my countdown - March 18th is the big day! Yesterday went for a 3 hr nutrition following lapband procedure. The class made it all seem so real. So, at advice of class, starting the protein loading process today and on March 3, start the liquid phase of getting ready. Today 330lbs at 6'4" - my first goal - to get to 300lbs within 90 days!

Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual & Transgendered Bandsters

Thanks for your kind welcome! I'm one day closer to March 18th! Today, I cleaned out my refrigerator of anything I didn't think would be healthy to eat. Creating the mindset that I need to change my "evil ways" and eat healthy.

Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual & Transgendered Bandsters

For the heck of it, I went to "search" and typed in gay bandsters and lo and behold, there is a group! How cool? Well, me, soon to join the "Band Wagon". My surgery date is March 18th. I'm thrilled, but, in the meantime, eating like its going out of style! My 2 week preop diet starts early March and seems I'm trying to get in every bit of food I can before the "DIE - IT"! Me, originally from Boston, but, now living in beautiful Seattle. My husband (yup. we got married in Provinctown, MA) have been together for nearly 8 years. He is from Mazatlan, Mexico. Gosh, I am going to miss all that wonderful Mexican food. We have a 2 1/2 year old male Golden Retriever. After lapband, our dog is going to be worn out with all the walking I plan to do. Today, 330 lbs, 6'4", 50 in waist - ugh!!! Goal, to lose 100lb - no more, no less!!! Looking foward to hearing from all you LGBT Bandsters!!!
  11. Hi, I live in SeaTAC, and scheduled for lapband on March 18th, at St Francis, Federal Way, with Dr. Oh? Any chance he was your surgeon?

    For Just Us Guys

New to the website - so glad to finally find a men's group!! well, just got approved and scheduled to get my band on March 18th - want to lose 100lbs - I have some apprehensions when I read that some guys don't experience very much weight loss for some time. Realize lapband weight loss is slower than bypass, but, thinking 1 to 2 a week is a much healthy way to go!!! I am so "not" looking foward to the preop liquid diet! I just found out I was approved by the insurance company and have gone on a binge and eating everything in site!!! By the way, tummy tuck - go for it.

    approval to surgery time

hey all - I just got approved, after being denied by Aetna last November. My company switched providers and I'm now with BC/BS Premera - within 3 days of submitting my claim, I was approved, no hassle and scheduled for banding on Mar 18th. A day late, but, calling it my Irish Weight Loss program!!!:wink2:
