  1. Hi,

My name is Cheryl and I am 55 years old. I have been thinking about lap band for awhile now. This is the first time I have attended a seminar and actually sent in the packet of information. My insurance requires me to be monitored by my doctor or diet for 6 months. I have severe sleep apnea which is the number reason I want to do this other than I am miserable with my weight and cannot lose. I feel like such a failure. I have been heavy for 24 years and getting bigger every year. My question is after you start losing do you have a lot of flab hanging or is it a given that after you get older you have to have this removed? I have alot of fat in the abdomen area and affecting my breathing. Anyway is there some information you could give me while waiting 6 months not to get depressed and give up.

    Thanks for listening.

    Cheryl

    Cpap

That is the reason why I am researching the lap band procedure. I am so tired of being sleepy all the time. I feel like I never am rested. I fight with that mask all night long. I can tell when I have taken it off the night before. I can't get a good breath. I am on the highest pressure. I hope someone on here will give us all good news. Cheryl

    neck swelling, salivary glands

I sure hope this isn't lapband related because I just got over a surgery for this one and am just starting to check into the lapband surgery. I started having swelling under my ears and looked like I had the mumps after eating or while eating. Come to find out a couple of years later I had a mass in my parotid gland and I also have sjogrens disease an immune disease of the glands. Anyway try drinking more Water see if it subsides if it doesn't you need to get to an ENT. Thank God it was benign but it needs to be checked out. Cheryl

    sleep machine

Do you have Humana for your insurance? I am in the going to another seminar next week. I have been told that my insurance has you wait 6 months while being monitored by a doctor on weight loss and seeing a dietician. Is this true? I also have severe sleep apnea. I have used a machine for years but I am not happy with the situation. I always take it off through the night. The next day I can't get my breath very easy and I fall asleep all day no matter where I am. It is so frustrating. I just want to be normal and to be able to go to bed like everyone else and not be afraid to go to sleep. I am scared about the lapband but I am at my wits end. I can't lose weight. Thanks, Cheryl
  5. Are you doing alright now? I am just now considering the band. Are you totally against it or did you just have a bad experience where you had it done? Please enlighten me on the process.

    Thanks,

    Cheryl
