OMG, OMG, OMG!!!!!!!! I'm not telling though, but for anyone who is watching, can you believe it????? LOL
  4. HUH? I don't get it. Please help me understand!! LOL
  5. You'll be alright. It's amazing the things we are willing to put up with or do when we want something bad enough! I was worried about being hungry, but I actually felt "full" the whole time I was on my liquid diet. Hang in there!

What a jerk! That's just wrong. What makes him think he can voice himself like that to you? How rude! Sorry you're dealing with that. ~C
  7. Banded at long last! It sure seemed like it would take forever to get to this point, but here I am! I am doing well. I had to stay in the hospital a little longer than usual because I had an allergic reaction to one of the meds. I still have "scales" on my face and stomach from all the itching I did! I've been pretty hungry, but am trying to "eat" every 2 hours and drink as much water as I can. I am down 5 lbs. so far so I guess a pound a day isn't too shabby! I've been taking short walks, but yesterday got brave and went all the way around the block! I feel so proud! I think we picked a good time to get banded as the weather is nice enough to lure us outside. I'm glad everyone is doing so good. It's great to hear from everybody! Please share any good ideas for food/mushies/drinks that fill you up! ~C
  8. My husbands jeans!!!
  9. TG: I agree! I don't like that either!
  10. Good analogy BG. Look at my situation! I was just fat! I don't have high cholesterol or high BP. If you look in my medical chart, I would appear to be healthy. Then there was that damn EGD that found CANCER! WTF?? So you all complain about BMI, thin, too thin, that's gross, I'm hot, your not, whatever. At this point in my life, I'm just going for healthy. Funny how those numbers don't matter anymore. I only wish to reduce my risk of cancer and other obesity related illness. Of course I want to be "skinny" and look great and all that, but truth be told, I just want to be alive. ~C
  11. CONGRATS ZZ!!!!!! I KNEW YOU COULD DO IT!! GREAT JOB! HAPPY BIRTHDAY JULI!!! Good morning everyone! JC-Good to hear from you. I'm glad you're doing better. Keep taking it easy. You'll be back on your bike in no time! BG-Awesome on the $$$$$ Good for you! They have several jerseys that are racerback too. They give a nicer tan than the typical ones. If you're looking for bicycle access. only, here is my list: pump (floor and one for your bike-little tiny handheld you put in your seatpack) all in one tool cycle monitor with cadence/heart rate-helps you really keep track of your workout! cute jerseys, cute biking shorts/skorts I dunno, does that help?
  12. Here Here! I agree with that! We (people with weight problems) deal with enough in the outside world. We don't need it here! :huh2: ~C
  13. I can't commit just yet. It seems as though each month I have trouble with the date. Argh! I will have to let you know. Worse case scenario, I will have to just make a trip down and see whoever can meet me and we'll go for dinner and drinks or something! ~C
  14. Oh come on! Have some class heartme! Why did you bother to post here if you can't be supportive? It's okay that you're hungry. I've learned that many people are. Make sure you don't cheat the diet your doctor prescribes, but be sure you are getting enough to eat/drink (depending on your phase). I am having the same trouble, and realized I wasn't taking in all that I could have. I feel better now that I am paying attention to calories and getting enough Water. Hang in there! You can do this! ~C
  15. oooohh, good one. That one bugs me too!
  16. How 'bout "penetration". Ewwww! And "penis". What yucky words. LOL
  17. Mine is from a nickname I acquired as a kid. When I was a baby crawling around, my big sister (of 2 years of age) kept calling me a "turtle" but it was coming out "turler". My Dad kept it going and here it is! Cool thread!
  18. Oh Lordy! I've got a list of words too! LOL What a funny thread! Okay, here's just ONE of my pet peeves. Here in Ohio, people say that they "warsh" their clothes, "warsh" the car, etc. HUH??? Last I checked, Webster's clearly spells it WASH and is pronounced without an "R" !!! Ugh! ~C

Interesting topic. I haven't decided how I will handle this. Part of me wants to Celebrate with each pound I will lose, but the other part of me wants to keep 'em guessing. I would NEVER tell anyone my current weight, nor would anyone ever ask. So why do people feel it's okay to ask amounts lost and current weight when you've slimmed down? I'm inclined to answer vaguely and respond like Juli suggested! Ask them a personal question, you know, since we're all sharing and bonding now! I'm a little testy about this because I have struggled a great deal with even telling anyone that I was going to have sugery. I realize someone will notice when I start losing, and someone is bound to ask. I just can't figure yet if they will be supportive or is the information for purely gossip purposes. ~C
  20. Yes!! I am always telling my patients "It doesn't matter if it's in the middle of the night or whenever, YOU CALL the doctor if you have ANY questions or concerns". They (doctors) take call for a reason. They know you will forget something, need something or whatever. They really do appreciate the patient that takes an active role in their healthcare!
  21. WOW! I am a NEWBIE, a LAPBAND PATIENT, AND a NURSE!! What a great thread! I did a lot of research just as most of you did before surgery. There is always something to learn. I would NEVER take advice here over my doctor! (No offense to anyone). That should be Rule #1 for everyone! Just because someone is a nurse, doesn't make them qualified to give medical advice! It's fine to share experiences, your knowledge of a subject and give opinions. That is what this forum is all about. I like knowing I'm not the only one experiencing something. I like knowing what to expect and reading about the joys and the pitfalls of Band life. Ultimately, we are responsible for our own bodies, our own lives. We would only be doing ourselves a disservice to not contact our doctors and ask these questions. Make an appointment to just talk! You hired them. They work for you. They will make time for you! I think it's sad that so many don't respect their doctors knowledge and training enough to follow the orders. Why would anyone let someone perform surgery on them if they dont' trust them??? Okay, I'm done. I just had to say my peace. I know some of you wanted the thread to die, but I just found it and had to comment. Sorry! ~C
  22. Am I the only one who is hungry after surgery???? LOL I swear, I am soooo hungry. I am sticking to the diet as ordered, but I am feeling jipped!
  23. Great pics J and BG! Looks like you had a great time! Thanks for sharing!
  24. I believe it's a personal decision whether you tell or not. Everyone has their reasons. People can be cruel as most of us have learned being fat. There are many on here who have a great support system, and there are those who don't. I don't think it's necessarily about being embarrassed or ashamed of the surgery. Why can't we do this privately? Skinny people don't have to explain themselves to us, so why should we have to answer to them? Do what works best for you and your situation! ~C
  25. You are going to do just fine! You've put a lot of thought into this to get this far! You can do it! Our lives are changing drastically and it's wonderful! We are here for eachother! Good Luck tomorrow!!!! ~C
