  1. I drink 2x the fluid when I have a straw. Just sayin'.

I know it can make some people have discomfort/pain, but for me it works beautifully, and it really helps me get more fluids down.

  2. 3 month checkup yesterday, doc is pleased. Lost a little bit of muscle mass, need to get more serious about protein and exercise. Otherwise, things are going great. Waiting on labwork about vitamins.

LOL. Yeah, I can see where that would be concerning. :)

I have auto-immune arthritis. I can't pull the foil seal off of the coffee creamer. LOL. I've had to have my family open bottles (pop top and screw top) for a couple of years now. I need to get some arthritis helper gadgets around the house, but part of me feels that's giving in. LOL

She gave me the Seca sheet, it was pretty much all over. I didn't lose much so she's not worried at all, just said to keep working toward higher protein intake and more exercise especially strength training.

  5. Oh, and my hair is now falling out. Not enough to cause bald spots, but the shower drain and sink look like they're growing their own fur at this point. Yuck!! Hope that stops soon.

yeah, I agree it happens or it doesn't. The supplements and stuff can't really change the underlying situation that the body is dealing with a trauma, and one way it does is to recycle hair and skin cells. It's more of a PITA with the drains than anything else. My daughter has Alopecia Totalis (entire scalp bald), currently in remission... so I know how bad it CAN get, and am just always grateful when it's not. LOL

  6. My poor trainer. I did some research on weight training with auto-immune arthritis, and apparently you have to start REALLY FREAKING low. 5-10% of total body weight for upper body, 25% for lower. That meant I had to do lat pulldowns with #10 of weight. Felt like nothing at the time. Slightly sore this morning, but I'm not seeing an actual flare, so we might be on the right track now. Fingers crossed. I do NOT want to give up on working out.

  7. It confuses me people hide their own poor behavior behind the guise that "so many people private messaged me agreeing with me". Sure they did. ;)

I must have missed something. S'okay. With all the unrest in the country, I don't need to get caught up with another drama llama. :)

  10. Yep... Size 20 jeans have to go in the "give-away box". I started this process in 24's.

I'll never see single digit clothing sizes. When I was my thinnest in college (which has never been a sustainable weight for me) I was in a 10 jean. I'll be happy to get back to a 16 and beyond thrilled to get to a 12-14.

I think there's also an element of confession that makes people feel better either because they want absolution or the criticisms make them feel like they've been absolved. LOL

  14. It's interesting to me that I am "defensive", "unadult-like", "ashamed", or have my "panties in a bunch" (oh! And a liar, too!) simply because I don't care to openly discuss my weight. Perhaps I should also wear a sign around my neck detailing my income, this morning's bout of diarrhea, a report of my complete sexual history, and all of my religious and political views.

  15. Down 46 lbs. Pants are getting looser, will likely have to break out the "skinny pants" box from the back of my closet this week. Have a HUGE pile of clothes to donate to a friend who had VSG and is having wardrobe challenges.

I hate clothes shopping, I don't expect that will ever change. But it will be nice to be in "normal" sizes again someday very soon.

  16. Weather front came in last night, woke up with a migraine. Thank goodness for a work from home agreement. Just now getting started on my workday. :/

  17. The kid is home for a mini fall break and I've made my killer brownies and almond joy cookies for her to take back. The house smells fabulous. In my fatter days, I would have made double batches and tasted myself into a sugar coma. I love that one is now more than enough.

    1. theantichick

      theantichick

I'm kinda glad it doesn't. I like a small bite of dark chocolate every once in a while. What I love now is that the one bite or one cookie is enough, and it doesn't taste quite as good as it used to, so I only have it if I'm really wanting it.

I'm wondering how I'll do with my holiday baking this year. Though so far, when I've thought I wanted something like an Oreo cookie, I've had one and a) it was enough and B) it wasn't as good as I'd imagined it to be. :)

  19. Ugh. Hurting worse today. This is what I was afraid of with strength training - if I overdo just a bit, it starts inflammation up which causes arthritis flare. Have another trainer session tonight, I'll go ahead and go because we're going to have to work together to keep forward momentum without overdoing it. Not taking any Advil because also have rheumy appointment today and they'll draw blood, don't want the factors to show low because of NSAIDs. :(

Valentina, I'm lucky to find an indoor pool within 15 miles, period. :)

Yeah, that's why I signed up at that particular gym. I will probably get in the pool after the trainer today, or if not, tomorrow. I had intended to just work cardio walking in the pool for a while before starting strength training, but the trainer made a good case for starting strength training from the beginning.

It's just a twinge, so it's not like "real pain". But I do have to baby the knees. :( I may have to actually take some Advil today. :/

  24. Oddest thing... was eating chicken last night and was doing OK with speed, but got super nauseated after dipping some in BBQ sauce. Closest I've come to throwing up since this all started. What gives?

    1. theantichick

      theantichick

This was full-on "I'm going to puke" complete with chills/clammy feeling. I ran for the bathroom, I was so convinced it was coming. I was able to stand and deep breathe and move past it without puking (I despise throwing up and will do anything to avoid it) but it was about 15 min of is-it-gonna-happen and another 15 before I felt OK again. Weird thing is, since I have to get carbs in, I've eaten stuff with a LOT more sugar content than the tiny bit in the tiny bit of sauce I put on the chicken. I've also had pork and chicken crock potted in that same BBQ sauce since surgery with no problem. This was just the first time I had it straight out of the fridge on food. BBQ sauce is already cooked, so I wouldn't think cooking it more would change any of the components, but maybe it makes it blend with the meat somehow that doesn't happen as a dipping sauce? Now I'm leery of ketchup or anything else along those lines. ;)
