    Dr. Joya

That is a dilemma. Are you near a major airport? I'm sorry, Jenni told me where you were from but I can't recall... You might be able to get cheap airfare to offset the nutritionist. Is the nutritionist fee a one time only fee and then $78 bucks for every fill after that? That is probably a good deal. I will be sure to eat at Bogarts. When I was in Pv, I was too sick to go out. Never left my room!!! until I left to fly home. WHen I walked out of my room and saw the beach..and the beautiful pools, I really felt cheated! d

Pv is nice and I am looking forward to a return trip for the fill. We should all be in town around the same time. Get together for a margarita maybe? Jenni and I will be traveling together so it will be fun. D

    Help

I did the same thing after surgery and it was caused by the general anesthetic. Barfing the dry barfs and not feeling like eating or drinking even the juice.. It took me an entire day to eat the two ounces of jello and drink a half a bottle of water. I just keep sipping lightly and eventually the anesthetic wears off. But I did feel like crap the day after surgery. Next day..better and no barfing. Next day back to work.. Good Luck.

Hi.. I went to Dr.Joya too 10/22. My daughter was banded 10/25. The same day as you. Did you meet her? Jennifer Rodriguez? If you don't mind me asking. What type of plastic surgery did your daughter have? Good luck!

    Lapbanding vrs Gastric Bypass

Wow.. too bad. PV was very nice although I didn't see much of it. I will go back for a fill when 6 weeks post op. Only 2weeks out now. Next time I go, I am taking my clubs and spending a few days. I stayed at the Krystal which was very nice. Not 5 star but very adequate and well run. Great pool and poolside restaurant. Dr.Joya was nice and he operates in a hospital rather than a clinic which I thought was a bonus if there were unforeseen complications with the surgery. Something that would require intensive care for example. Total fee, airfare hotel, hospital was $8K. I had zero complications other than nausea from the general anesthetic which I have had before. Surgery takes less than an hour. Hospital small and clean.

    just got banded yesterday

Sounds like the normal swelling and residual effecs of surgery and general anesthetic. The pressure problem is probably the gas and the referred pain from the gas pumped into your abdomen. I guess a lot of people really suffer from that pain especially in the shoulder since it presses on some nerve. I did not have that but it is fairly common. Check your pulse and respiration, if it gets weird be sure to call the doc.

    just got banded yesterday

I took shower day after surgery. No infection. Maybe your breathing is hard because of the residual effects of the general anesthetic. I had kind of a sore throat and raspy cough. At any rate, don't take chances. Call your doctor! dd

    Lapbanding vrs Gastric Bypass

It appears that for most of us here at LapbandTalk. Gastric bypass was too radical and irreversible. No Malnutrition with excellent weight loss results. Since I have been doing my research, I have ran across a number of posts from people who had some form of bypass and followed up with a lapband. It ain't magic. It's a tool. You can succeed or fail on either course but for me, the thought of permanently altering my ability to absorb nutrients via gastric bypass, the longer recovery time, the higher death rate, and the fact you can stretch your remodeled stomach out again turned me against the bypass. Actually, I never considered the bypass since I have only the same 80 or so pounds to lose for the umpteenth time and the bypass scared the crap out of me. The lapband seems like a walk in the park. I am a newbie but have read just about everything I could get my hands on re:Lapband and to me it represented hope withot the giant risk of bypass. I am only sorry I didn't hear about it earlier in my life. I like to move forward fast and was just banded on 10/22/05. Was off work only 1 day and feel terrific. Little itchy on the port site but everything else is healed. dd

    No longer a stranger

Wendi, You sound like me.. Walking your favorite golf course. All 18 holes. Hey I've done it! Even tubby but imagine how much fun it will be without the aching back and knees? I had my surgery on 10/22 and almost immediately my knees and lower back quit hurting. Not because of the 10-12 pounds that I have lost but because of a better diet. My daughter is an acupuncturist and she says it is because when you are overweight you are spleen deficient and the dampness settles in your joints causing stiffness. That is one happy note on the liquid diet! Don't be afraid of the surgery. Virtually no pain. Just a little frightening with regard to the general anesthetic but who isn't afraid of that? Two weeks today since my surgery and totally recovered. Stomach soreness is like doing too many situps and ab crunches. Gone in 3-4 days. Good luck.

    What restriction should I feel?

No pain at all. Port site is tender..wouldn't want to smack it. The worst part of the surgery was barfing from the anesthetic. I had surgery Saturday 6pm 10/22. overnight in hospital. Sunday in hotel, flew home Monday. Work on Tuesday. pretty much 100%. Right away. Just battling head hunger and have the feeling I could eat anything without restriction. I just had a scrambled egg. Your brain wants to continue eating but actually am not physically hunger. I just think I could eat more and more and more. Maybe I couldn't and it is just my paranoia.

    Stupid newbie questions

New to the forum, so some of the acronymns are unknown to me. ie. What is PB in reference to vomiting? Considering the surgery but other anesthesia has always made me vomit. Will that cause the band to slip?
