  1. Thank you! I'll work on getting down to that!
  2. Thanks for your input. I'm not doing sugar, bread, Pasta, rice, etc. I'm just very surprised at the carbs in other foods and how they add up. I think I need to count them right now just so I'll be more selective and educate myself on foods I didn't know were high in carbs. Some foods that surprised me as far as amount of carbs: aspartame, milk, veggie soup, bananas, other fruit, and grits. Grits shouldn't be a surprise really. But the banana is what really floored me. 28 grams of carbs!

I'm full right now, but I will probably get hungry again. So far today: Calories - 749 Fat - 38 g Carbs - 45 g Protein - 69 g
  4. Thanks! I will definitely try to increase the calories and decrease the carbs. What is normal/recommended for protein and carb grams? I think my doc said 60 grams of protein a day, but he didn't say anything about carbs.

    Weekly Exercise Thread 3/10

I haven't been able to walk at the walking track yesterday or today. I have heel spurs and they really hurt from those 2 days straight of walking around that concrete track. I decided to rest for 2 days, at least from walking. I'll do 20 minutes on the exercise bike tonight.
  6. I tried this tonight, but I didn't put it in the slow cooker. I seasoned, then browned the chicken breasts in a skillet with canola oil. Put them all back in the pan and added the rotel and let it simmer about 30-45 minutes. The kids loved it! I ate the shredded up chicken and some tomatoes, but no rice for me yet. But it was really easy and good. Thanks!
  7. So here's the average from FitDay for the past 6 days: Average Calories/day: 647 Average Fat grams/day: 25 Average Protein grams/day: 49 Average Carb grams/day: 61 Not at all what I thought it was going to be. I'm interested to hear how many of each y'all are getting? Who's counting?
  8. Confession: I ate 2 fish sticks last night that my daughter left uneaten. JaxBandster: Thank you so much for reminding me about that site. I used it a couple of years ago. I went on today to log my food for the last week (still not finished), but I was appalled at the amount of carbs I was eating! Yesterday I was at 1000 calories (highest since surgery) but I had 111 grams of CARBS!!!!! I didn't realize bananas, milk, and veggie Soup had so many carbs!

    Stuck at 17 pounds!!!

I'm stuck, too. No weight loss for several days. I started counting calories today just to see where I'm at. I agree with everyone else. I think my body is holding on to whatever it can! We will all probably break loose at the same time and the pounds will start dropping! Now, pass the ice cream! LOL
  10. 8 weeks after surgery for me. I have no idea why so long.

    Why am I so hungry!

The plan from my surgeon was 1 week of clear liquids, 2 weeks of full liquids, 3 weeks of mushies, then on to regular food. Mine is a little extreme compared to most I've read about here. I started on full liquids 2 days early and started on mushies 3 days early. Still on mushies and won't have a fill until April 16th. My surgeon's rule for fills is 2/2/2. 2 days of clear, 2 days of full, 2 days of mushies after every fill.

I walked on the track again today. My oldest daughter is home for spring break and she went with me! We made it around the track twice in a little less than 30 minutes.

    Why am I so hungry!

I've been feeling the same way the last couple of days. Maybe our stomachs shrink as we lose the initial weight so the band is not as restrictive?
  16. I think it may just be the individual surgeon's requirements or preferences. In my pre-op class, everyone had the exact same diet. We were all given the same book with lists of things we could/couldn't eat pre-op.

What do you eat when you eat out?

I ate out at Ruby Tuesday's and had broccoli and cheese soup, and I ordered the smashed cauliflower. I only ate a couple of bites of the cauliflower because I didn't really care for the taste. I ate the soup, but left the big pieces of broccoli. I tasted my daughter's mashed potatoes and they were pretty good. I try to be careful. I heard there's a lot of hidden fat, sugar, and calories in restaurant food.
  18. My surgeon required a protein shake for breakfast and lunch, and then a reasonable dinner. They gave me a list of suggested dinners that consisted of some sort of lean protein, veggies, and a small portion of starchy food. The protein shakes they recommended were super high in protein, low-carb, and low fat. I used the powder form. They suggested 16 oz per meal, which was actually 2 scoops of powder. They also suggested 64 oz of fluid per day. Hope this helps! Much success on your journey!

    Weekly Exercise Thread 3/10

I finally made up my mind today to go walking. I have ridden my stationary exercise bike a couple of times since surgery and walked around the backyard with the dog, but that's about it. There is a park near me with a walking track, so I hauled the kids and the dog over there with me. I made it around the track twice. It circles around 4 softball fields, but not sure exactly how long it is. It took me around 30 minutes. :blushing:

    Full Liquid Stage Recipies

I haven't tried a ready-made shake that I really, really liked yet, but I make my own that are pretty tasty. I take one scoop of 100% Whey Chocolate Protein powder (Wal Mart), and blend in the blender with a handful or two of ice and a splash of fat free milk. I add sugar free chocolate syrup and spoonful of reduced fat peanut butter. Tastes like a treat to me!

  22. I didn't get anything like this when I had my sleep study. They sent the results to my cardiologist, and when I went in for a follow-up, he gave me the results. I had severe sleep apnea and was put on a CPAP machine. Maybe your doctor can interpret these for you?
  23. I had surgery on a Tuesday and was out at Sam's Club and the grocery store on Friday. I took a full 2 weeks off work. I had medical leave approved for that long, so I took advantage of it. I'm sure I could have gone back a lot sooner. Much success on your journey!
