    Video Blog... I'm an Advertisement!

    Amazing! You were great!
  2. Ditto... I'll join the ranks of wagon-faller-offers. I had a cadbury cream egg, several other pieces of candy, quite a few boiled eggs, and more ham than I care to mention. I am surprised that the scale wasn't up this morning, but it has remained steady so far. I did go out and walk today and got back on track with eating. I guess I'll allow myself this treat!

Putting a face to a name

Ok - gonna try this one more time. This is me in October 2007. Not sure what I weighed then. Most likely 300+.

    Changing Goal Weight

I chose mine, too. I haven't even discussed with my doctor, but I'm sure I will at some point. I'm 5'6", so I thought 170 or 175 would be a nice weight. I think that I will probably change it as I get closer. My DH is 175, so if I can get to 170, at least I will be less than him! I started out at 319, and haven't been under 240 since I was a teen, so 170 is almost impossible for me to imagine.

Putting a face to a name

I'm not sure what happened to my pics. They were there last night after I posted. Guess I'll try again when I get home. I'm working late tonight. Gibson, I can tell you are a beautiful person. You are not your body. That's just a shell you temporarily call your home.
  6. I was just thinking I'd like to start a thread to get know each other better. Guess I just needed to look. It was fun reading about all of you! It seems like we all come from different places and different walks of life, but come together so beautifully to share with each other, encourage and support each other. Anyway... I'm Kelli. I'm 37 years old, married, and mother of 5 teenage girls. They are 18, 17, 16, 14, and 13. My oldest is a freshman in college this year and living on campus, so I'm down to 4 at home. At least for now. I work at a company that manufactures electronics and such. We make ATM machines, picture maker kiosks, self-checkout machines, along with other computer-type stuff. I'm an inventory analyst. My husband is an electrician, 48 years old, and you gotta feel for the man being the only male in the house! :Dancing_shocked: He has been my biggest supporter and cheerleader in this. At surgery, I weighed 319 lbs and wore a size 26/28. The highest I've ever been is 328. I've struggled with weight all my life. I remember weighing in at 240 lbs when I was 16 years old. We have 3 cats. Kizzi, Shadow, and Lily. We just acquired a dog. She looks like she's mixed with chihuahua. She's a cutie, and I think we may keep her. I've really appreciated all the encouragement and support you all have shown since I've joined LBT. I'm glad we can share this journey together!

    Come On SC!

Hey, Traci! Glad you're here! I don't really have any info for doctors in the upstate, but you may find information in the Doctors and Hospitals forum. Great job on the weight loss so far! I was born and raised in Spartanburg, which isn't too far from Mauldin, but I moved from there a long time ago. My dad still lives up that way, so I go visit from time to time. I hope your move goes smoothly! Keep us updated!

    Calling all February Bandsters!

Hey olgi, I personally use 100% whey. I buy it at Wal Mart. It comes in chocolate and vanilla. There may be other flavors, but I haven't seen them. I had a hard time getting the shakes down at first, then someone told me I could use sugar free syrups. I use the chocolate powder in the blender with ice, fat free milk, and a little Sugar Free Chocolate syrup. Sometimes I add a small spoonful of reduced fat Peanut Butter. Sometimes you have to get creative! When I don't have time to make those, I use the ready made Atkins or EAS shakes.

    Freakin Weekend

I'm with the rest of you. It is much easier during the week! I know exactly what I'm going to eat and when, but on the weekend is a different story. My teenagers have all kinds of snacks around and it's not always easy to pass it by. I've been doing pretty good, although I did sneak the toppings off a slice of pizza on Saturday. If I stay home on the weekend, I find myself sometimes falling into that old habit of thinking about what I can eat next. Sometimes, though, it's very refreshing to realize I have gone hours without thinking about food at all. And even with weekend "cheating", I'm sure eating a lot less than I used to!

I wore my favorite jeans today, size 26. At least 4 people have commented that it's time to get rid of them. I can take them on and off without unbuttoning them. I used to have a roll that hung over the top of them, but now they are entirely too big! Guess it's time to retire them!

    Hi from Minneapolis

Welcome! I think we all go through the nervousness about surgery. It helped me to focus on the preliminary tests and to try to stay in the moment. If I let myself, I'd have been projecting outcomes of all sorts and getting myself in a tizzy. I'm glad you're here! This is a great place for support. Looking forward to getting to know you also. Hang in there!
  18. Congratulations and welcome! Be patient with yourself, and come here often for support. This forum has been amazing for me on this journey so far. Much success on your journey! Keep us updated!

    NA'ers?

Welcome! Glad you're here. If it makes you feel any better, the pain wasn't that bad for me. I don't know if you've had any surgeries before, but in comparison with the children and 2 surgeries (gall bladder and tubal) this was a breeze. I am married to a recovering addict, so I shared my concerns with him about the pain meds. I told him how my pain was, and how often I was supposed to take the meds. He helped me keep track and stay accountable. I only took them them for 2 days, and then 1 more pill on the 3rd day and I was good to go. I wish you much success on your journey!

    OK Everyone...STOP POSTING!!!!!!

I feel the same way. I think about y'all even when I'm not in front of the computer. One of my daughters thinks I'm addicted to this forum. Oh well...I can think of lots worse things to be addicted to. Like food! I'm grateful for LBT, and really grateful for all of you who post, post, post! I hope we all stay connected for a long time to come!

That's awesome, Gibson! I know that felt good. I now realize how much I was missing out on because I was caught up in that never-ending stream of thoughts about food.

Let's see... 1. I have way more energy. 2. My clothes are fitting loose. Can't wait to get into smaller ones. 3. My co-workers notice and compliment my weight loss. 4. I have wayyyy more time on my hands now. Never realized how much my life centered around food. 5. I have inspired my children to exercise and eat a little healthier.
