  1. How do you like your new knee? I have 2 Titanium Knees, and it is fantastic. Reminds me of the Band. Yes its something artificial, but you only feel better in the long run... Thats how the band is for me, and the knees. No Regrets at all.

    Shirley.

    Hi Shirley,

Im only 2 weeks post surgery so its way too early to say. Still popping percocet like crazy. I made 100 degrees of flexion today at PT and was able to ride the bike a bit. Therapist said I way ahead of typical. Im a very sore puppy though. I believe the BioMet implant was used.

I had my hip done about 5 years ago and it is fantastic!! Completely cured the pain.

  2. I am glad to see so many of us still have our band... I am 8 years out and it seems that more often than not people are loosing their bands... I guess I was one of the lucky ones so far. I have been banded and had twins and haven't even thought about a full in years... I hover somewhere around 180 and fluctuate with my exercise. When its warm I am active but like a bear I hibernate when it's cold... I love the way the lap band has made me normal... I wish it could be that way for more of us...

Im coming up on 4 years banded and still very happy. Ive gained a bit back from my lowest point but still down 90 from where I started. I recently went back to the gym to get some more of it back. I just had a knee replacement which is slowing me down a bit but I hope to be back to the gym in a couple weeks to restart the downward progress.

    I am a happy camper!

  3. I'm still around. I've gained a little bit back but still down 100 pounds from starting weight. Getting the band was a great decision and I'd do it again in a minute. Got an adjustment just after the first of the year and the extra pounds are coming off. It's major 'tight' now. Hang in there everyone....

  4. I am thinking about this and I have BCBS of NC also. I am unsure whether they will approve it, because my BMI is only 38. But I have type 1 diabetes, no high BP, no high cholesterol, and I am 29 years old. I also have hypothyroidism and have had my thyroid removed because of a goiter about five years ago. I have an insulin pump. What do you guys think??

I suggest you have a direct conversation with the insurance company. The diabetes is a significant risk factor that weight loss would greatly help and that could work in your favor. A letter from your Endocrinologist recommending WLS may also help.

  5. hi may I ask how long did it take you to get approve. I just recently got insurance with united healthcare and I was wondering do you know how long do you have to be with an insurance company to qualify for surgery coverage.

That is going to depend on the insurance company. There should be a thread in the forum for each insurance company. The best advice to speed things up is to get on the 'physician supervised diet' with monthly weigh ins ASAP. You have to be on that 6 months before most insurance will approve. You should also make sure your insurance doesnt have a bariatric surgery exclusion.

  6. Wow!! Where did everyone go? No fowarding adress?? LOL.

Hope all the peeps are doing good. Merry Christmas wishes!!

    Merry Christmas to you too....

The band is still serving me well. Ive gained back about 12 pounds from my lowest but Im still at about 108 lost. Im hitting the gym again to put a dent in those 12 pounds.

  7. onederland!!!!!!!!!!

such a good feeling to be in onederland. Thanks to everyone for the support, encouragement and feedback. I can now say i only weigh 20 lbs more than my husband!!! He is a fit, athletic marine :( So needless to say i am feeling pretty darn good!!!!!

i am still experiencing a bit of reflux but i saw my reg doctor this week and he is thrilled that i have lost soooo much. He told me taking 1-2 tablets of zantac each day is not harmful. I do not take it everyday but if i know if i am going to eat something that might be upsetting, i just go ahead and take one.

i am not up for a fill until aug 10 so hopefully i will be down 2-3 more lbs by then if i stay on the treadmill.

thanks again everyone!! Have a good weekend.:tongue2:

    congratulations!!!!!!!!!!!

  8. It is good to see some activity here again.... I am also pretty much stuck. I had hoped the summer would help me break thru this wall for the last 15 pound push. My gall bladder decided to interrupt the party last week and demand my attention. Now that its out... I get to start this all over again. fun fun fun....

  9. Its been pretty quiet here for a while.

Had a fill yesterday... +1cc. We will see how this works out. Getting close to goal.... But vacation is coming in two weeks which will surely stop progress and could even cost me a few pounds.... oh well... such is life. Ill recover Im sure! :blushing:

  10. Turler - welcome back to the "gurgling club" !!!

Sometimes when I am sitting in a quiet conference room I can hear my ice tea making its way through the tunnel!! So embarassing but nothing to stop it!! 8-)

HA!! Thats funny!! Do you ever notice a sloshing sound when you are walking after drinking something? It surprised me at first.

  11. Hi Everyone!!

Had my one year checkup today. Down 113 pounds. T minus 17 and counting! Also had a small fill... added .5cc for a total of 9cc in a 14cc Lapband AP. Im so pleased with this band.... Who would have thought that something so simple could do so much good.

Congrats to everyone for one year of 'fun'.....

  12. Hello all. I am just checking in as well. Yes our anniversaries are fast approaching! I met my 1 year goal of 90lbs lost. I was hoping to make it to 95 but we will see. I need to take my own advice on the Water I think. Sheesh the last few days I just haven't gotten in all my water. I am bloated like a blow fish :)

I am hoping once the water receeds that I will be down a pound

Glad to see everyone checking in and doing so well. We have come a long way. There's a ton of knowledge in our thread.

Hi Everyone... Yup... It is hard to believe that it will be one year very soon..... 4 days away for me. I too made my one year goal with a eleven pounds to spare. Ive updated my goal to take another 30 more off. The winter has made it very difficult to lose. I havent made much progress but I havent gone backwards. Ive signed up with a trainer at the gym and whew... she is putting a hurt on me... But Ive lost a few so I guess I will just have to endure.

Well... back to lurking... Happy bandiversary everyone!!!

  13. I love Target. We don't have one, but there is one in San Antonio which is only about a 45 minute drive. They have great clothes and very affordable. I also shop off Ebay. I'll try to buy multiple pants or something from one buyer to combine shipping. Saves money. And right now all the department stores are having huge sales, at least down here. 75% off... I love to shop for bargains. And when I only spend $11 on pants, I don't feel so bad if they are too big after I've worn them a few times.

I'm grouchy this morning. We live on a college campus and they are building a new residence hall right across the driveway from our hall. They started pouring concrete at 4:00 am. I just don't see any logical reason for that. I am not good when I don't get enough sleep. DH and DD slept through all of it. I got caught up on the Bachelor... Thank God for DVR.

Now I'll grump through the day until I can get back into my nice comfy bed tonight. However, my day won't end until at least 9:00 pm. Meetings tonight... Lovely! I love my job, I love my job, I love my job. There are days when I have to remind myself of that. Today is one of those days.

Hope everyone else has a great day.

Most towns have building codes that dont allow work between certain hours. You could call your town building code enforcement group and complain.

  14. Well, apparently my doctor made a mistake also!!!! I am so happy, although I went through days and days of worry and stress. I apparently do not have a leak, it was miscalculation and him not adding all of the Fluid back in my band :cursing:

Thank you all for your support :tongue2:

    Amy

Im glad it worked out OK. Gotta watch 'em like a hawk. :)

    Happy New Year everyone!!!!

  15. I have not posted here in a while but I had my surgery on 4-11, I went to the doctor yesterday for a fill and found out I have a leak in my tubing or my port :-(

I was going to the fill center until last month when my doctor decided to break away from True Results and I thought it was odd that when he put .3 in me band I was at 6.7 but according to the fill center paperwork I kept I should have been at 7.0....well when I went back yesterday I had 5.7 in my band. I go back on 12/29 to check it again and decide when I will have the tubing and port replaced :-( I am a self pay but they are going to see if my insurance will pay anything.

Hopefully they made a mistake in addition or in the last fill. My docs made a calculation error and ended up with the band amount and the charted amount not matching. When it mismatched, he sucked it dry and then blew it full and made sure that after about 15 mins fully full that he could withdraw the exact same amount. Since then all has been fine.

  16. Hi all, I saw the thread and was also banded back in April. I though I would ask if anyone else has had a prolonged period of no weight lose? I feel like I have not lost anything for roughly a month though am down well overall?

Im there right now.... I only lost 2 pounds last month and the month before wasnt very good either. I think the weather change has a lot to do with it. Less light so more sleeping and less activity. Before the weather change I was losing like crazy.

  17. Good job CC (ColoradoChick-If it's okay with you, I'll just call you CC?)!!!!

You have done very well with your band. What are you doing? Are you logging? Would you share your regimen?

Most of us struggle a little more than we'd like. We tried logging our food for a while. I can't speak for everyone, but I have fallen off the bandwagon on that one! I'm losing a little here and there, but not what I really want. I am sort of dreading all this holiday eating. I don't feel like I've conquered any of my brain habits this year. I'm still eager to eat whatever I can manage to get down. I'm so disappointed in myself.

I know it's not the end of the world or anything, I guess I just thought it was gonna be so much easier this year. Granted, I didn't eat near the portions I have in years past, but still. I went straight for the dessert because I knew it would go down without a fight!

    ~C

Ive pretty much hit the wall myself.... Bummer. I believe the weather has a lot to do with it. Im not as active... sleeping more.... Im really not eating more: at least I dont think I am. Ive got only 28 to go to my total goal and Im not gonna quit. Its getting harder to get motivated to head for the gym and make myself sore though. Bring on April and Spring!!!! I had hoped to make goal by April but it doesnt seem likely. Nothing wrong with July though...
