safe or not
Because weight loss should really only be for adults, in saying that you obviously didn't look hard enough because there are plenty of teenagers in the teenage forum - Not trying to be rude either Heres the link: http://www.lapbandtalk.com/f116/

Looking to talk to people who may regret getting banded
I totally agree with you which is why I spend most of my time in the chat room. The thing that annoys me the most tho is definetly people who say they eat earlier than usual - I still remember one chick who said she ate an entire hot dog about a week out, she said it took her like 2 hours but she did it just to see if she could - People like that should be tranquilized and then have the band taken out - Yeah people will bitch at me for saying that but honestly who does that kinda thing?

What can't you eat??
So I had issues with poached eggs but any other way cooked is fine - Go figure. Sometimes have trouble with mango but I find if I have it in like a fruit salad and eat like strawberries first it acts as like a cushion and have no trouble then? Had trouble with bread last time I had it and sometimes have trouble with rissoles (probably because there so dry) Really that's the only thing for me. But I got a fill yesterday so that's bound to change lol.

For those with a 12cc band
So I always thought I didn't know my band size but when I went in today the nurse asked my bariatric nurse "Whats the most that can go in" And my bn said oh about 12 - Which makes sense to me because I'm almost at restriction (well I think anyway) So I got .5cc put in and I'm just wondering for those with a 12cc band what amount in your band has you at restriction? Thanks

Channel 7 - Sunday Program
MissK I saw it as well and I posted on there discussion board how disghusted I was as well with the whole segment - FYI if you look on the discussion board and theres a story and the thread starter was blackstars yeah that's me lol. Anyway yeah I was totally disghusted in the entire thing, I hated the fact that they focused on the one person that had a nicked bowel during surgery when in fact ANY surgery is dangerous really. And with Andy they didn't even focus on how people are actually being proactive and choosing not to be like this anymore. I personally think they should do a follow up story apologizing, it's a load of bull and I think that freakin Mike guy needs to be given the axe especially since he clearly didn't do any research at all - For your info Mike, I eat fruit all the freakin time and have no issues lol Edit* Xellia if you do write in a letter asking them to show the positive instead of the negatives, will you let me know if you get anything back? I agree with you though, being healthier and weighing less I think far outweighs the negatives of this surgery. If I didn't have this surgery my weight would still be going up - I was 125 when I started and I would probably be up 130 but now and at my age honestly that's dighusting so yeah this surgery was a life saver. One other thing to mention, I went on the website and the dietician that is against it and everything is funnily enough employed by the same people that employ the surgeon. I thought that was pretty interesting - I'm pretty sure the surgeon brings in my more moolah than she doesn - And she's probably only bitching because she'll be loosing clients because people will actually be healthier.

what about straws?
I was never told yes or no but always heard you shouldnt. My sister bought a milkshake one day and I had some with a straw and honestly it was like alot of air was being put in my stomach and I just stopped drinking. I tried it again like a week later and didn't have any issues, and really when you think about it and people saying you get suction and stuff it's a load of bull, you don't really actually swallow air when you eat or drink because if you did that's actually when you choke. Just do what's right for you

I hate how they keep "fixing it" but they just seem to be screwing it up for more and more people all the time

chat room
I've been trying since saturday (monday now) and I still haven't been able to get in, it just loads really slowly and then it says the internet couldn't connect me to it which is a load of bs

WHY do they do that??
From what I've heard from others - The ones that are jealous or are rude about the entire thing are usually bigger than you themselves and are jealous because they can't get it - The ones that are supportive are the thin ones - Go figure. This is why I choose not to tell me friends, one of them is a little bigger than me and maybe she will take it fine but chances are she won't - I didn't do this for vanity although that is a good motivation lol, I did it because I have more health problems than a 80 year old, add on that that I'm fat and it makes the problems 50 times worse so it was just the better solution for me.

does anyone eat bread or pasta?
I choose to only eat whole grain bread toasted, tried a toasted sandwich and just not the same thing =( Still eat pasta but try not to do it alot as I tend to be able to eat like 1/4 of a cup more of pasta than anything else which is really annoying, also I make sure I cook it til it's really soft and add heaps of sauce, just easier to eat then - Also they sell kiddies ravioli here in aus lol so I eat them cuz they're tiny.

Question about Damage from SOda?
Honestly no one here can give you the best answer, the first person that replied is the one to go with - See your doc and discuss it with them, overall the thing that is the main issue is stretching of the pouch from carbonation which can lead to weight gain so why risk that? For me I have it in my mind that if I take one sip I'm going to have it all foam up in my throat and I'll be in severe pain, that's probably not true but for me it's good to think that way lol.
-
Do you drink soda?
It can stretch the pouch Paige, meaning you can end up eating more and the band won't work as well - It doesn't happen overnight but gradually.
-
Do you drink soda?
So I'm currently in the chat room and we were discussing if anyone drank soda/softdrink. One said that her doc allowed her to where as everyone else said that theres didn't. My doc personally said no, unless it's flat which who really wants something like flat coke? I'd rather have Water. But in my mind if I drink soda it's like my stomach will start pulsating or something and I'll just keep vomitting, I know tha probably won't happen but still I keep thinking it will lol. Plus that and I don't want my pouch stretched. So do you drink soda?

One week post op and I cheated! Please help.
I'm sorry but I doubt your surgeon really believes that any of his patients are 100% true to his post op diet. In saying that at least you only cheated with soup and it wasn't something hard, don't beat yourself up over it - I cheated on my preop diet and I admitted that to my nurse, I also said to him after you've screwed me around 3 times for surgery I wasn't entirely sure if I was going to get surgery so I didn't stick to it faithfully at all, he agreed with me of course cuz he was in the wrong lol but everyones different.

What did/ do you tell people about your weight loss
Honestly only a couple of people know about my band and they've been supportive and those that don't know about my band haven't really noticed the weightloss except for my pharmacist lol - All I'll be telling them is that I've cut soft drink, bread and rice which is completely true, explain that and how high in carbs they are and because you ate so much before and then decided to cut them out you've lost alot which isn't lying at all, I mean we can't have soft drink and we can have rice and bread but not alot so really your actually being honest =) Good luck

Login issues - Clearing Web Browser Cache and Cookies
Is there a reason the chat isn't working for me today? Any other time it does - By the way I clear the cookies and history everytime I get off the computer so that shouldn't be the issue

What to do? Getting stuck too much
So everything with the band was kind of fine until my last fill, the doc put in .5cc and I've just had issue after issue since I had it done, the day after when I was allowed to eat after having liquids I got stuck. Then about a week later I got stuck again and then the next day I also got stuck, then yesterday I got stuck on one bite of a rissole (fair enough it may have been a bit too dry) so I took it easy the rest of the afternoon, then we had fish and chips for dinner tonight, I put my fish on my plate (by the way it was grilled so it was healthy) and a couple of chips, I took one bite of a chip and thought great. So I've just recovered from bringing it up because I was in that much pain, this fill has just been horrible for me and I'm tempted to stop eating all together and just go back on a liquid diet - I really don't know what to do - I only have restriction for about an hour to 3 hours depending on what I eat and also depending on what I eat I can eat as little as 3/4 cup of food to a cup and 1/4 so I don't know. I'm really at a loss and just thinking should I get a tiny unfill or should I just go to a liquid diet for a little while? I know I should talk to my doc about this but I called him thursday actually thinking I needed a fill and he said he'd get back to me which he hasn't so when he rings should I ask for an unfill or what? =(

Any Brisbane bandsters?
Okay random, I've been on this site how long and only just found this post? Lol. I'm in brisbane as well, bayside and was done in May this year, the weightloss has definitely been slow for me but I knew it was always going to be like that as I'm on medication that actually makes me gain (gotta love docs) hmm so what else? Only my family really know I've had the surgery, although small victory for me yesterday - Had to go to the pharmacy and get antibiotics cuz I'm sick at the moment and the lady there who I've known since like 6 or so was just like "sarah you've lost weight" lol. As I walked out I said to my mum that it freaks me out when people are like "oh you've lost weight" because I automatically think omg do they known I've had it done? Lol, stupid I know but oh well lol. Anyway do any of you catch up? I hate that yahoo thing because it's not set out properly so I refuse to use it lol
-
Do you or have you ever used Motrin, Ibuprofen, etc, while banded?
If you are worried, maybe ring you surgeon and ask him his opinion on it, honestly his is the best to go on because he would know more about the band

Vitamin water ....V. Isopure
Honestly I can't help you out because we don't have isopure here in aus and the vitamin water is a waste but I will tell you this - The vitamin water is basically a waste of money, they say you gett vitamins and what not in the water when you can easily drink free water out of a tap, the nutrients/vitamins are just going to be expelled when you urinate anyway so why waste the money?

Questions about Subway Post Op!
Up until my 3rd fill I was still eating a 6" - I just had it toasted twice so that it was eatable, in saying that - My band has been strange with me, things I should be able to eat I can't and things I shouldn't be able to eat I can, it's annoying and confusing. With subway just make sure you eat it slow and chew heaps, for me even though I could eat the entire 6" about 3 bites before I was finished I'd suddenly get really full really quick - Just ask the people to toast it twice so it's really crunchy

Need help with Stage 2 foods
My doc said, whatever my family eats, just blend it and make it a little more sloppier which I did, saved me heaps because I didn't have to go buy just for me, but in saying that I had alot of mashed pumpkin with gravy - Also one word of advice - Don't blend chicken, it tastes chalky lol

Will You Be or Have You Had The H1N1 Shot
Great, I woke up with a swollen throat this morning =( Technically I am the MOST at risk, I'm overweight, I have a lung disease and I'm on immuno supressant medication but I won't be getting it. Mainly because this so called "vaccine" has been out less than a month so how does anyone know the side affects of it?

Share ideas, What did you eat today ?
Well I decided to have a late lunch so that I hopefully wouldn't need to eat until dinner, had a ham and cheese toasted sandwich, cut into quarters ate about a quarter and realised it wasn't going anywhere fast *rolls eyes* so after being stuck for about half an hour had a cup of tea and then ate some noodles for lunch about 11.15 so that's all I've had so far, as for dinner no clue yet.
