  1. Honestly, yes there are people that only loose 20-30lbs, and they end up being the ones that usually drink their calories - Things like milkshakes, ice cream etc. It's possible with the other weight loss surgeries that you'll only loose that amount as well. All it really ends up being is hard work. It's not a quick fix, if you work hard enough yes you could loose as much as you want. I want told I might loose about 50% of my excess weight which would only be around the 60lbs mark - I don't want that. I WILL be doing all I can to make sure I loose the 120lbs I want. Plus, we're both young and it seems to be easier the younger you are. Their are people on here that I've seen have lost 150lbs so it's definitely doable as long as you stick to it.
  2. Ahh that totally sucks, I never knew it was so expensive just to upgrade one tiny thing.
  3. Can I ask why you're doing a liquid diet prior to getting a fill? Never heard of that.
  4. Not having to wait until my clothes are falling apart to buy some. I hate shopping. I buy clothes maybe once every 6 months and that's only because the clothes I wear every single day are falling apart. I tend to live in the same 2 pairs of pants and 3 shirts and it's ridiculous. I just want to be able to go to the shops, find something I like and buy it and try it on and not get pissed off when I have to go up a size. That for me will be the biggest highlight.
  5. Uhh, I drank heaps before being banded but now it's gone down. I have a cup of tea in the morning and then I'm not thirsty so I don't drink =( I know I need to get into the habit of sipping and I tried it yesterday but I didn't even get thru half of my 600ml water bottle. Add on that that I might have about 300ml of sustagen every other day and I know I'm definitely not getting heaps of fluids in. I did when I was first banded cuz I was required to drink about 50ml every 20-30 minutes and then it was upped to 250ml (1 cup) which I never drank that much anyway. I dunno, I just know I need to up it heaps.
  6. I agree with Brockbabe. Don't gain the weight. Alot of peoples insurance companies have the same thing and they sometimes put weights in their clothes to gain the weight. Just try talking with them. I think it's absolutely ridiculous that you have to gain for weight loss surgery. If your bmi is over 35 shouldn't that be reason enough?
  7. For the hernia question. There's heaps of people on here that have had that fixed while getting the lapband and I mean heaps. As for the admin charges, I'm not entirely sure about that. The fact that your insurance is paying I would have thought would be enough but the fact that he also wants money from you? Maybe it's just me but I find that weird. I never had to go through insurance so that could be why it doesn't seem right to me.
  8. I hate the idea of excercise as well and I agree with you about the sweating part BUT I need this. I didn't want to be the statistic that is I'll loose 100lbs and then gain back that plus another 50. Excercise is vital anyway for well being and although I hate it I know I need to do it. Try to make it fun, if you don't like sweating then do something involving water so you don't feel so hot. I hope this all goes well for you and you make the right decision.
  9. What happens if you don't get all the nutrients in during the day and you have to snack on something to get those in? What do they say then? I've been having some cheese sticks during meals just to help with overall protein and other stuff (like jaqui my dr doesn't push getting in a certain amount of protein but I'd rather just have a little more, I don't count it either) but I think I might switch it to a nutrient drink.
  10. You know overall the bypass is the same as the band, it gives you basically the same size stomach, just that ours is safer. If when they take part of your stomach and stitch it up they took it out and didn't take any bowel or anything I would have chosen it but they don't so I didn't lol.
  11. Well I've only just woken up cuz it's 11am so the only thing I've had so far is a cup of tea for my tablets and then for breakfast I had about 3/4 cup of scrambled eggs - Starting on soft food next tuesday but the dietician said I could have scrambled eggs so I did and omg it was awesome lol.
  12. I was supposed to stop mine a month before surgery but they actually only gave me 2 weeks notice before surgery so I couldn't. I didn't take mine the night after surgery mainly because I forgot but have been taking them everyday since.
  13. Avocado works exactly the same way because it's high in natural fats. I don't like almonds but I wouldn't say no to cashews or pistachios. But I always heard that nuts where sometimes a problem food with people?
  14. See that's the thing as well though, when I used to use a straw I drank really quick so that's why I'm thinking I shouldn't use one just in case I do drink really fast. But it's kinda hard with certain things oh and drinking soup thru a straw isn't weird - My sister is 24 and does it (mainly because she doesn't wanna wreckher braces lol)
  15. Alex you should change the layout of it alittle bit more so that if people have webcams we can put them on - Just a suggestion =)
  16. I don't have a job =( So chances of me getting a boob job are kinda slim BUT if I were to ever win lotto lol I'd get my boobs, arms, thighs and tummy tuck - Dunno about full body tuck because I've heard the mortality rate goes up when they pull your skin over your spine and that freaks me out.
  17. Yeah I think the chances of me finding anyone on here from my country let alone that's single on here is minimal lol. There's heaps of aussies on here but any single guys that are under 26? Although anyone that wants to feel free to hook me up lol.
  18. You're probably one of the maybe 5? Bypassers on here, mainly because this is a lapband website lol. Either way congratulations. I think it takes a very secure person to choose the bypass so I hope everything goes well with you =)
  19. Simple question. Do you use a straw? Yes you do? Or no you don't? If no could you possibly post why you don't? I was told I can use a straw but then someone went on about suction so now I'm a little paranoid lol so was just wondering what others thought about it =)
  20. You know I've been asked by people on here what my goal weight is but really I don't have one. I just want to be healthy, not have to go to hospital so much. When they ask me to do an excercise test every 3 months I'd like to last on the bike longer than 10 minutes. Just little things. I also don't want a huge goal straight away because I feel like I might set myself up for failure (just the way my mind works) so my first goal is to loose 20kgs by my sisters formal which is in November. I've heard of people loosing upwards of 60-70lbs in 3 months but I'd rather go slow. So 20kgs (44lbs) in 6 months is definitely doable I think =)
  21. Don't have any tats but if they're on places that don't really shrink during weightloss it'd be fine I guess. Places like the wrist, back, feet.
  22. I think the thing they worry about most about doing something with a higher bmi is the fact that it might be a little longer recovery. You're defintely not the highest bmi, there was a woman on here with one of 68 and she was approved within 48 hours. And here I was with my bmi of 45.5 thinking mine was the biggest.
  23. Really? That's interesting, I just assumed it was for americans because the only people I ever heard talk about it where american. I might have to ask my surgeon about it though but I dunno if I'll bother. Our portion sizes in australia are big but looking at the portion sizes in america they seem double the size of ours, but maybe that's just me. I guess if I ever travel though it would be something handy to have. Thanks for the info =)
  24. I had surgery on May the 12th and my first one is scheduled for the 17th this month which is 5 weeks out I think. I agree with sleepy though, hardly anyone has restriction first fill so maybe you could ask if he could do it early?
  25. Yeah I suppose lol. Although I did hear about one woman that was pregnant during surgery and still had it,and then I was talking to a woman on the chat who had surgery over a year ago and had only just had her first fill because she got pregnant straight after surgery. Either way good luck =)
