  1. For the hernia question. There's heaps of people on here that have had that fixed while getting the lapband and I mean heaps. As for the admin charges, I'm not entirely sure about that. The fact that your insurance is paying I would have thought would be enough but the fact that he also wants money from you? Maybe it's just me but I find that weird. I never had to go through insurance so that could be why it doesn't seem right to me.

Not Banded yet and hate exercise

I hate the idea of excercise as well and I agree with you about the sweating part BUT I need this. I didn't want to be the statistic that is I'll loose 100lbs and then gain back that plus another 50. Excercise is vital anyway for well being and although I hate it I know I need to do it. Try to make it fun, if you don't like sweating then do something involving water so you don't feel so hot. I hope this all goes well for you and you make the right decision.
  3. Don't get too paranoid about what your family says, everyones different and goes thru this differently. Let me know if you need any help =)

  4. Eh great, are you serious? So I can look forward to being a bitch more? Great lol. I guess I should pre-warn my family about that one lol. It sucks that you've been getting stuck, I had scrambled eggs for breakfast yesterday and went fine but I'm just worried about actually starting anything else you know? Like last night the fam had meat patties and salad for dinner so I stuck a meat patty in my tomato soup lol to kinda soften it, I gave up about 1/4 of the way cuz I was so over the chewing so I dunno =S

  5. What happens if you don't get all the nutrients in during the day and you have to snack on something to get those in? What do they say then? I've been having some cheese sticks during meals just to help with overall protein and other stuff (like jaqui my dr doesn't push getting in a certain amount of protein but I'd rather just have a little more, I don't count it either) but I think I might switch it to a nutrient drink.
  6. You know overall the bypass is the same as the band, it gives you basically the same size stomach, just that ours is safer. If when they take part of your stomach and stitch it up they took it out and didn't take any bowel or anything I would have chosen it but they don't so I didn't lol.
  7. Well I've only just woken up cuz it's 11am so the only thing I've had so far is a cup of tea for my tablets and then for breakfast I had about 3/4 cup of scrambled eggs - Starting on soft food next tuesday but the dietician said I could have scrambled eggs so I did and omg it was awesome lol.
  8. I was supposed to stop mine a month before surgery but they actually only gave me 2 weeks notice before surgery so I couldn't. I didn't take mine the night after surgery mainly because I forgot but have been taking them everyday since.
  9. Avocado works exactly the same way because it's high in natural fats. I don't like almonds but I wouldn't say no to cashews or pistachios. But I always heard that nuts where sometimes a problem food with people?

    Do you use a straw?

See that's the thing as well though, when I used to use a straw I drank really quick so that's why I'm thinking I shouldn't use one just in case I do drink really fast. But it's kinda hard with certain things oh and drinking soup thru a straw isn't weird - My sister is 24 and does it (mainly because she doesn't wanna wreckher braces lol)
  11. Hey, doing pretty good. Had some scrambled eggs for the first time yesterday (only a tiny bit) and then had reflux last night so dunno if they where related but it was annoying as heck. What about you? How are you going so far? I still have to start walking lol but it's been raining here on and off for the past month so it's hard to find a time when I can go and keep dry =(

    Lap Band Talk Chat Offline

Alex you should change the layout of it alittle bit more so that if people have webcams we can put them on - Just a suggestion =)
  13. I don't have a job =( So chances of me getting a boob job are kinda slim BUT if I were to ever win lotto lol I'd get my boobs, arms, thighs and tummy tuck - Dunno about full body tuck because I've heard the mortality rate goes up when they pull your skin over your spine and that freaks me out.

For the singles here... Just do this..

Yeah I think the chances of me finding anyone on here from my country let alone that's single on here is minimal lol. There's heaps of aussies on here but any single guys that are under 26? Although anyone that wants to feel free to hook me up lol.

    ONLY RNYer at LBT??

You're probably one of the maybe 5? Bypassers on here, mainly because this is a lapband website lol. Either way congratulations. I think it takes a very secure person to choose the bypass so I hope everything goes well with you =)

Do you have a BMI or a Weight goal?

You know I've been asked by people on here what my goal weight is but really I don't have one. I just want to be healthy, not have to go to hospital so much. When they ask me to do an excercise test every 3 months I'd like to last on the bike longer than 10 minutes. Just little things. I also don't want a huge goal straight away because I feel like I might set myself up for failure (just the way my mind works) so my first goal is to loose 20kgs by my sisters formal which is in November. I've heard of people loosing upwards of 60-70lbs in 3 months but I'd rather go slow. So 20kgs (44lbs) in 6 months is definitely doable I think =)

Bandsters with ink, talk to me!

Don't have any tats but if they're on places that don't really shrink during weightloss it'd be fine I guess. Places like the wrist, back, feet.

    BMI too high for banding?

I think the thing they worry about most about doing something with a higher bmi is the fact that it might be a little longer recovery. You're defintely not the highest bmi, there was a woman on here with one of 68 and she was approved within 48 hours. And here I was with my bmi of 45.5 thinking mine was the biggest.
  19. Really? That's interesting, I just assumed it was for americans because the only people I ever heard talk about it where american. I might have to ask my surgeon about it though but I dunno if I'll bother. Our portion sizes in australia are big but looking at the portion sizes in america they seem double the size of ours, but maybe that's just me. I guess if I ever travel though it would be something handy to have. Thanks for the info =)
  20. I had surgery on May the 12th and my first one is scheduled for the 17th this month which is 5 weeks out I think. I agree with sleepy though, hardly anyone has restriction first fill so maybe you could ask if he could do it early?
  21. Sarah.R

    The time is coming!

Yeah I suppose lol. Although I did hear about one woman that was pregnant during surgery and still had it,and then I was talking to a woman on the chat who had surgery over a year ago and had only just had her first fill because she got pregnant straight after surgery. Either way good luck =)
  22. Sarah.R

    The time is coming!

Lol it's great that your excited, but why are you so nervous about getting pregnant? Cuz of that fact that you'd have to postpone fills?
  23. How come you have to do it? Usually after surgery people walk heaps for the pain so I wouldn't have thought you'd need something like that when you got home?
  24. We don't have them in australia. Only people in the states can get them which sucks.

    Hostility from the jealous unbanded

If I were you I would go back to that hospital and report that nurse. She had absolutely no right saying the things she did, what you said was right, she doesn't know your family history and honestly the way she reacted I'm suprised she works there. If I had a nurse say anything like to me I would report them to the director/board of the hospital. Extremely unprofessional.
