  1. Mind if I ask, Why your doing Atkins 3 months after being banded? My surgeon suggests we do this two weeks prior to our banding so that we shrink our liver before surgery. I'm so thankful I lost enough weight before this that I didn't have to do Atkins. It seems too intense for me. Good Luck with this and please keep posting we need the insight of others to blaze our own successful trails!
  2. Gretchens4, You said "Restriction is the key for me, definitely. Do the best you can and make sure you continue getting fills until you have good restriction." I get what restriction is but, did it make you feel full sooner? I don't feel banded yet (only 4 wks post-op) What does good restriction make you FEEL like? Thanks Diane

    Plantar facsiitis anyone?

It sounds too easy but, My mom found relief by...rolling a golf ball around her instep 2 -3 times a day followed by rolling a frozen coke bottle under her foot 5-10 minutes. After so many other doctor suggestions and treatments that's the one that worked. So silly and simple. Good Luck hope you get relief!

    The book... please read

Amy, I have asked my Dietician for something like your book and since lap bands are so very new to my area we have nothing. Our support groups are mostly 98% gastric by pass people. I asked in a support group once if we could have an interactive web site to add recipes for each other. But, for now that's beyond what their web people can do. So if I invent something tasty I'll send it along to you. Please keep collecting and let us know when and how we can get a copy. I promise to send a copy to our weight management team and maybe it'll be something they tell all their patients to get. GOOOOO You!!

    Hi Everyone

HI Dianna, Although I am only 3 weeks post op and things will change I'm sure. Be prepared to still get so hungry you'll want to eat like there's no tomorrow. After the first week (when I wasn't hungry and still on a soft or liquid diet) I was sooooo hungry sometimes I wanted to eat and eat and eat. I could still eat 2 cans of campbells chicken noodle soup. I pureed an entire big bag of broccoli and poured it in 2 C. of Lipton cream of chicken Cup A Soup and ate that!! A WHOLE bag of broccoli!! After 2 weeks I slowly chewed and chewed and chewed a spicy chicken burrito from taco bell. With the program my surgical team puts us on I already made some life changing eating habits that are now just a fact of normal life I had lost 30 lbs by surgery day. And 10 pounds the week after my surgery. But the hunger to eat a horse is still here! As I'm writting this now I want to go out and scramble 6 eggs. But my logical side which is NOT GROWLING says ok 2 eggs and a choc. Protein shake. You WILL get the hang of eating with the band, But that tame your hunger I guess will come with time. I heard somewhere skinny people don't think of food ALL the time. Maybe in ten years or so I'll get food off my mind.LOL :-) Good Luck with your surgery. And remember to eat very little in the next 11 days so your liver gets a little smaller. You'll do great!!!
  6. I know hospitals over charge insurance company's but I just got my bill today for the hospital charges. They billed Blue cross $43,000.00 WOW and that's not including charges for the DR.s. Maybe your state has insurance you could buy cheap. PA does! Good Luck on your journey:-)
