I'd be pissed if my son ate them though. If he wants the SF ones that cost like 4 bucks a box that's okay but if he ate these I'd probably be mad as hell LOL

LOLOLOL I would too! I've never seen these in stores, but the Isopure site has a 12pk marked at $42.99. Phew that's a hefty price. I'd get a lock put on my popsicle maker! :D

I've tried the Apple Melon and I like it. Post-surgery, though, it's a little too sweet and I have to Water it down. Some of the other flavors, though, may not be as sweetโ€”even before surgery, I thought it was pretty tangy sweet.

Good to know! I just stumbled upon them in a Google search and saw the Cocotein flavor....I love coconut Water so I might give this one a try.

I have been taking the Celebrate chewables with 36 of Iron in two pills for about a year.

I never have had an issue but I seem to have a strong stomach.

I donโ€™t enjoy them, but I donโ€™t find them intolerable.

You may want to add sublingual B12.

Oh yeah! I do take a chewable B12. I'll also mark Celebrate chewable as "not intolerable" :D

  4. Here's the whole slew of things I'm taking pre-op and supposed to continue post-op (aside the biotin/collage - that's my choice). So far I feel like a million bucks just after a few days! :

    - Multivitamin capsule (BariatricPal 1xday)
    - B-100 Complex (NOW brand 1xday)
    - Vitamin D3 (Zahler brand - 3000iu 1xday)
    - Calcium Chewy Bites (Bariatric Advantage 3xday)
    - Biotin (Sports Research 10,000mcg 1xday)
    - collagen Peptides (Sports Research 1 packet daily - taken this for 4 months already, makes my hair and nails grow super fast)
    - 50 billion Probiotic (Renew Life Extra Care)
    - B12 chewable (Radiance Platinum 5,000mcg)

Hey! I'm taking the ProCare Health one a day bariatric Vitamins with 18mg Iron. I started with opurity chewables and could not stand them for more than a few weeks. I haven't had my first labs yet (those happen @6 months out for me, I am currently 3mo). Hoping the labs are fine. I also switched from opurity chewable calcium citrate (too chalky) to the Celebrate chewables and love them. I'm using Bariatric Fusion sublingual B12 also and so far that's it. The Opurity sublingual B12 is decent too. I always find it interesting to see what others have tried.

So the ProCare chewables don't taste like a$$? I'm taking note of all the ones people are noting as most palatable. Here's the list of acceptable multivites given to me by my RD. Currently, I'm taking BariatricPal one-a-day during pre-op, but will have to switch to chewables post-op. I prefer to stick to the higher Iron if I can tolerate it because it helps in preventing Hair loss and also the lesser # of pills per day is ideal. I know all this has the potential to change laster, but I like hearing ya'lls opinions :783_heart_decoration:

Keto was very successful for me pre-op last year. But low fat, low carb is the new life. Your body and metabolism will completely change post-op. Give it a chance.

Thatโ€™s good to hear. Itโ€™s taken so much work to change my mindset from โ€œeat all the thingsโ€ to keto. If all I need to do is dial back my fat, I should be good.

My guess is that the pouch IS the new stomach. Oh wait, I'm thinking of gastric sleeve where the new "pouch" is the new stomach but you might be talking about Gastric Bypass where the pouch is in addition to the old stomach. Good question. I had gastric sleeve a month ago and I'm having acid reflux whenever I lay down.

Yep! I shouldโ€™ve specified so I edited my post to include RNY.

My surgeon said reflux is rampant with sleeve patients and the #1 reason folks come to him for revisions to RNY. Some people just canโ€™t get a handle on it ๐Ÿ˜ฅ I hope you can get some relief.

I love the info. My nut did a piss poor job sharing this info with the group when we had our one and only presentation. I'm going to order the collagen right now. And I am not taking any omegas so I need to add that.

Yay! I also started taking 10,000mcg Biotin (Sports Research brand - same as the collagen). They apparently work together. The pill is TINY, about the size of a D3 capsule. Dude, Iโ€™m loading up now because I want to know I did everything I can to prevent Hair loss, brittle nails and saggy skin.

    Hereโ€™s the Amazon link...Biotin (10,000mcg) with Organic Coconut Oil | Supports Healthy hair, Skin & Nails | Non-GMO Verified & Vegan Certified (120 Veggie-Softgels) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00T56FQAE/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_iA1oCb8WFT36C

The 50k is not that unusual in the DS and RNY worlds and is available OTC. Some may even take it daily for a while if they are trying to build their D levels back up, and then back off the frequency or dosage to maintain it. But it shows that the timing is not critical and we have some limited, at least, storage to work with. D (along with A, E and K) being an oil soluble tends to hang around in bodies longer than the other Water soluble Vitamins that tend to get flushed through more quickly.

Yep! I was JUST reading about fat soluble and Water soluble vitamins! It makes a ton of sense now. Iโ€™ve always had low Vitamin D because I hate going outside. My job is indoors and we practically work in the dark because were a bunch of introverted nerds who should probably just live in caves LOL For now, Iโ€™ve settled on 3,000iu of D3 in the morning with my other meds and taking the calcium chews alone during the day since they already have D3 ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿผ I have labs in a couple months so if I need more, we can adjust it then.

And Kimmie K, would you believe it? Even with my TPN, where I am on a liquid IV diet, I have my own special dietician? Her name is Kelly, we talk at a minimum, once a week, and she is very very nice and a great resource person.

Thatโ€™s awesome โค๏ธ my dieticianโ€™s full-time job is working with folks that have had major complications after WLS. Sheโ€™s definitely a diamond in the rough. Very sweet, helpful and knowledgeable. Even though we only meet once a month we actually email and text frequently. She told me I have unlimited coverage for our visits pre-op and post-op with my new insurance which Iโ€™m so thankful for BUT I told her to brace herself because Iโ€™m a question-asking machine. She may want to kill me before my 6 months are over! LOLOLOL

Look at the info on the Calcium pills...there is usually Vitamin D in Calcium pills.

Right...I'm going to start the Bariatric Advantage calcium chews and they only have 500iu per chew...3 per day = only 1500iu. My Vitamin guide sheet says I need 3000-5000iu of D3 per day so I need 2000-3500iu more.

I think I'll just buy a bottle of 3000iu, take it in the morning then just take the chews by themselves and hit close to the max iu per day requirement.

  12. I'm pre-op but going ahead with taking my vites to get into the habit. I know D3 helps absorption of Calcium. I already have a bottle of D3 5000iu because I was told to take that dose last year after low amounts on bloodwork. My question is...Since my D3 is such a high dose, if I take the D3 in the morning once and my calcium 3 times a day, will I still have enough D3 in my system to support that last evening calcium dose? Or should I get another bottle of D3 in smaller doses to take each time I take the calcium?

Yep. Blue Cross was really quick to issue me a correct EOB, but getting the hospital to fix it is proving harder.

AT least at the doc's office for visits, I just tell them I'm still covered and I'm not paying the copay, so I dont have to try to get money back from them

Geez :( I'm sure it'll work itself out. You can't be the only person to have to go through this crap.

It was really the hospital stay. My insurance is fairly clear that if its a center for excellence, its $X and $Y if not. When I got the bill, they had charged me $Y. Unfortunately, I didn't think about it when I paid it, so I paid the extra money and now have to figure out how to get a refund. Good stuff.

Ahhh sounds like you have Blue Cross or something. I have Anthem Blue Cross and they require the BC Center of Excellence junk too. So your surgery was performed in the right place and your doctor just charged wrong? That's messed up.

Hi RinRin, I also experienced this in my second week! Was crying over the most ridiculous little things. I've read on here that it's because fat stores estrogen and it's released as you rapidly lose weight. I'm 3.5 weeks out and am starting to normalize--hang in there!
