  1. I started putting the Syntrax Nectar to Go packets in my coffee today. 1 packet per 8oz of coffee. Quite tasty. I mix with a handheld milk frother and it dissolved instantly. It does get a little frothy, but will die down. I found I had to add some stevia (Pyure) to sweeten it up...but for someone that has already had surgery, it might be sweet enough for you.

My last surgery I had to share a room with a lady who did nothing but fart and belch constantly. I felt like I was going to be ill having to spend a day and a half with that lady. And aside from that she talked constantly even when I told her I was putting earbuds in to listen to my audio book. ugh.

I was chuckling at this thread until I got your post and totally LOL'd at my desk :D That sounds like a horrendous experience!!! I'm so used to my blissful solitude at home, I'd end up chuckin' a pillow at the person at some point :P

  3. @SteveT74 You're my kinda dude! You have this Keto thing down! Way to go! You're right though...from my time on here and hearing what other have to say, I sounds like eating true keto with bypass might be harder to pull off considering the diet requires you eat high fat and moderate Protein. Who knows though? I think if you can eat at least eat a 1:1 fat/protein ratio you'll be good. I sure as heck will try when the time comes! You're also right about pee sticks. They're worthless. If you're peeing out ketones, your body isn't using them for energy. Also, if you're dehydrated you will pee ketones so they're not reliable at all. When it comes to measuring what your body is creating itself and using for energy, it's going to be blood ketones. Pee sticks may be good for diabetics or something, but if you're going to eat a true ketonian diet, get a KetoMojo meter to test your blood. It's an excellent investment and easy to use. We need to keep in touch :)

Yep! I get a runny nose as I eat and if I've filled my pouch/sleeve, I do what I call "machine-gun sneezing" where I just sneeze over and over again. We're talking like 10 or 15 times in a row!

I generally try to avoid that, so I stop before I get to that point. It's one thing to sneeze like typhoid Mary in private, but you get some strange looks in the office or in a restaurant.

HAH! That's insane! My work "brothers" will be all over this. My team is me and 3 other guys - we're like family :P They call me rapid-fire so I sneeze enough as it is....I can already hear the new nicknames flowing in! :D I wonder if anyone has ever sneezed themselves to death :1421_nose_tone2:

  5. Just read that "the absorption of CO2 across the peritoneum is normally eliminated through the lungs because of its high aqueous solubility and diffusibility..." Now it makes sense! The CO2 gas is just absorbed by the lining of your abdominal cavity and excreted through the lungs when you breathe. It's not literally "pushed out". That's why the spirometer is so important or doing activity that gets your breathing and heart rate up. The spiro gets you to breathe in deep to fill your lungs to max capacity, hold, then exhale....slowly eliminating the gas from the body. :91_thumbsup:

So funny! I didn't know this til my nutrition class pre-op when they told us to look for cues. My daughter is only 20 and hasn't had the surgery but ever since she was small her nose runs after eating a meal and she has to blow her nose. I swear it's because she is full! I never knew.

Sent from my Pixel 3 using BariatricPal mobile app

Totally unrelated, but my nose runs like a mofo when I brush my teeth LOL Lord help you if you walk in on me brushing my teeth...it's a pretty gross sight! :D

  7. So I read elsewhere that a lot of people are reporting that they start sneezing when their pouch is full or their eyes/nose start running. That's so weird! Anyone here experience that sort of thing too? I know there's hiccuping and burping, but sneezing seems like such a strangely attached reaction to a full pouch :D

Which flavors do you like? I've tried them all because we got a sample bag of every flavor. I bought mango-pineapple and caramel. Just like starburst. I dont like sweets so much anymore so I've switched to the horse pills Citrical.

I just started my very first bag of caramel flavor. Where did you find a sample bag with different flavors??? 😱

  9. I'm nowhere near 22 anymore, but I'm with @Honeybee22 You don't owe anyone a darn thing. Tell who you know in your heart needs to know. This journey is about you, no one else and if they can't accept that you're doing this to improve your health, then I wouldn't consider them a person worthy of being your friend. That's just my old person opinion LOL It's tougher when you're younger. I get that. If you work with or go to school with a small group of people, it'll be obvious eventually. People will begin to ask what you've done to look so good.

  10. Ahhhh that makes a lot of sense!

I've used this TDEE calculator for 2 years https://tdeecalculator.net and I was always told to take the average of my BMR and my maintenance calories in order to have a # slightly higher than BMR and slightly lower than maintenance to keep from jacking up metabolism. Apparently it helps keep you from entering into a caloric deficit, which on Keto, tends to cause weight loss stalls and/or gains. I'm super curious to see how close the # from the RMR test is to this calculator.

It adds up fast! I use something called the DeskCycle, you can find it on Amazon. It's amazing. My surgeon told me to exercise 45 mins a day, so in that time I usually cycle 12-16 miles depending on the resistance I use. Do that every day and the mileage adds up before you know it! I just manually track my mileage and submit it, but some of the virtual racing sites connect to fitness trackers, I just prefer doing it manually.

Now that I read about exercise on here, I'll probably either increase the time I cycle or add more resistance. I usually just watch TV while I cycle anyway, so it gives me an excuse to keep binge watching my shows while making it productive 😝

LOLOLOLOL Hey, whatever works! I'm gonna go check out that DeskCycle thing! :91_thumbsup:

Same! I wanted to be able to exercise more - I have an autoimmune condition that is helped by exercise, so being able to exercise is really important for me! I love my indoor cycle - sometimes it feels tedious but it always feels amazing when I'm done. I've actually started entering virtual races so I can complete mileage goals from my home and get a medal lol. For me it's really motivating. This month's goal is to get over 200 miles!

Funny cause I never thought I'd enjoy fitness as a hobby and something I look forward to every day, but I do!

Oooh! Do you have a Peloton bike or something? Holy cow....200miles. I've barely driven that much in my car this month LOL that's awesome!!!

For me, the most valuable part (and it makes total sense!) is to exercise as much as you can during the period where you don't have hunger. I'm still in that period and have been feeling the desire to exercise more, but in the back of my mind I was worried about overdoing it and then burning out. But usually exercising increases hunger, so if you're able to do it without that happening it makes sense it would boost your weight loss.

Now I don't feel guilty about wanting to exercise a bit more 😊

Girl, I wouldn't feel guilty either! That's awesome that you get that feeling. I hear that a lot around here. My #1 reason for wanting surgery (aside weight loss) is to be able to work out, run, chase my kids and be active without shame and flopping all over the place LOL I know the shame part is irrational, but it is what it is. I'd say go do what your body feels like it wants to do. If you do too much, you'll know :783_heart_decoration:

What an amazing find! Read the whole thing. Wish they had one for the sleeve - I wonder if the 6 month thing is true for the sleeve (I've heard it's not) as well as the Water loading

Agreed. Even though my surgeon's office lady doesn't agree with the Water loading (she didn't exactly say why) I still think there's tons of valuable info in the post that can be used by everybody to some extent.

No no, you are creating a lot of content, quickly to gain points. Got it.

Well yeah...that's just a bonus...plus I just have a TON of random questions I think of on a whim and if Google doesn't give me the answer I want or it's not already explained in an existing thread here, I make one. I figured that's what this place is for, to ask questions and learn, right? B)
