  1. I'm also a Dr. John Marsden patient. I haven't met him yet but the company AIGB (American Institute of Gastric Banding) is who he's affiliated with. They're in Hurst. One of my work buddies used him and recommended that office which is why I decided to go there. So far everything with them has been seamless. All my tests are done and I'm just waiting for the insurance to say OK. My first visit there was 1/13/08 and everything was complete by 1/31/08..... 817-520-5430...good luck!!!!

  2. The place I go, they call people in your situation "Low BMI Cases". They do exist. It depends on your insurance if they will cover weight loss surgery if your BMI is low. Like my insurance will only pay for surgery if your BMI is 40 or higher. You may end up having to pay out of pocket for your surgery but honestly it all depends on your insurance. Hope that helps!

  3. Hey guys!

I'm pretty new here...I mostly stalk. I'm just waiting for my insurance approval. I am VERY curious about the little names and acronyms from certain things related to lap band...I have no idea what people are talking about! For example, what is "PB'ing"? Stuff like that....

Please list as many little bits of jargon only banders know and let me in on this whole new world I'll be experiening shortly. I can't find a defintion page or anything for lap band terms. Thanks in advance for everyone's input! have a great one :)

  4. This is such a relief to read...my drive has gone waaaaay down along with self confidence and all the other stuff that comes with not liking yourself because you dont think you're attractive anymore. I know my hubby loves me and he assures me that no matter how much I weigh he'll always want to be with me. So that's definitely helpful...but there's always that nagging little thing in the back of your head thinking..."how can he even stand to look at me when there are way more attractive specimen out there..." My drive is one thing I'm certainly looking forward to getting back...thanks for the post Indyguydon!

  5. I went there for my study...it was a really nice place. Big comfy bed and flat screen TV. I didnt get to watch it for very long though before they were sticking wires all over me, LOL! It's true, it's so hard to sleep. I tossed for hours. The thing that bothered me the most was the air flow monitors they stick in you nose and in front your mouth. They tickled ALL NIGHT!!! You can't sleep on your stomach because they supposedly can't diagnose sleep apnea if you do...so that sucked too since I absolutely can't sleep on my side or back. Supposedly they got enough data and found I didn't have sleep apnea...even though I snore like a freakin grizzly bear with a head cold...I still don't have it. Plus if you have long hair, you'll have a time getting that toothpaste gook out from the electrodes they stick on your head....but hey...it's the price to pay to get this surgery done so just go with the flow and take a lot of Nyquil after you get hooked up!

  6. Thanks for starting this post, Brooke! I was about to do the same thing  I'm still going through all my pre-op testing so I'm about a month away from actually being banded. I'm such a noob, it freaks me out! I feel like I know nothing at all! I'll definitely be stalking the threads on here because there sure seems like a lot of info to absorb. Good luck to all the other noobs out there getting ready for the big day!!!!
