Is weight loss surgery more effective long term than dieting?
Absolutely. Everything in life has some kind of price tag on it and sometimes only time will tell you if the price you paid was worth it.

Tired of Questions...need some reasons for weight loss
"I had WLS". Shuts people up really quick. While this is of course not really comparable it's in the end the reason why I won't lie about WLS and give people the "I eat healthy and exercise" schlock. It's not fair to people getting results who exercise more and making healthier food choices without "the game changer" assisting them.

Any use intermittent fasting?
I use intermittent fasting since almost two years now. Started because I wanted to try to get rid of some chronic low-grade inflammation in my shoulder. I don't know if this was just a placebo effect but my shoulder is way better. No pain and mobility is not as good as on the other side but way better than before. I use 16:8 for "maintenance" so to say, an occasional day with 18:6 or 20:4 if it fits my schedule. In terms of weight loss it was maybe an additional 2 or 3 kg - not worth the hassle if you don't like the lifestyle IMO.

Is weight loss surgery more effective long term than dieting?
The people without problems don't tend to hang around for very long so there definitely is major selection bias at work and some of the problems you might have read about are just your typical issues after abdominal surgery that usually resolve itself within the first few weeks, e. g. gas pain, potty issues, fatigue.

Any bike suggestions?
Bike shorts need to be a really snug fit so I guess they won't fit for that long. Keep in mind that more padding is not always better, neither is a padded saddle, especially on longer rides. Did they measure sitting bone distance before recommending a saddle? Definitely go back if the shorts don't solve the problem. There are often only subtle changes to be made, e. g. my saddles need to have a very slight tilt down in the front so I get the pressure on my sitting bones accordingly and most pressure off the female parts.

Any bike suggestions?
The saddle being a killer on your bum can have more than one reason: not the right saddle or - even if you have the right saddle - it has to be properly adjusted for your more sensitive parts not to hurt. Also your sitting bones need to adjust to the pressure and this takes time. If you got a gravel bike I guess you also notice some pain in your hands? Also do you wear padded bike shorts? Thin padding? Firmer, thicker padding? Now this has nothing to do with you having problems riding uphill. That's being out of shape I fear.

How to keep protein drinks cold
I'd simply use the Emsa coffee mugs I keep my coffee or tea hot in. No leakage at all. Just throw them in your backpack. It's either the Travel Mug Classic or the Travel Mug Classic Grande. I usually use the big one for tea only.

Scolded for using "wrong" protein shake post-op
This. I'd check for some kind of affiliation if possible, too, if only out of curiosity.

Scolded for using "wrong" protein shake post-op
Being constipated is pretty normal because of the high protein and lack of fiber diet during the peri-operative phase. It should sort itself out once more fruit and veg is included into the diet.

Scolded for using "wrong" protein shake post-op
IIRC we should watch out for a protein content of 80% or higher. Didn't have to be a whey protein, could be plant based either.

What a b*tch... (sorry)

How did she make you order this? Anyway, this behavior is worth filing a complaint. A dietician can recommend a product or several products but nothing more. Does she get paid by this company when her patients order their protein or what?

So my interpretation wasn't that wrong, LOL.

Never seen this in a German ALDI. ALDI Süd carries some Trader Joe brand stuff, e. g. nuts. The ALDI Nord I recently shopped at didn't. The soy Schnitzel I pictured earlier are from ALDI. Unfortunately just mediocre. They don't get crispy enough in the oven. That's a definite "thumbs down" from my site.

I saw exactly what I described. That's why I thought of it as funny when I looked at the two ladies, lol. Like in a sitcom. I can't see anything gentle in that gesture. It gives the impression of "urging somebody". Second pic is more like "Ew, leave me alone with your food obsession". I think it's funny but obviously my eyes took a different look at it.

Bottomless pit after 3 h bike ride. Soy "Schnitzel" with hot sauce, Emil's vegan remoulade, roasted onions. Whole wheat bread with cashew camembert, a bit of vegan spread and little carrots.

The left one looks like someone loving it to lecture other people about their food choices and the right one looks like she's going to punch the schoolmaster straight into the face the very next second. ? Guys, don't be the obnoxious one! It could be dangerous!

I mix my proteins with 2/3 soy milk and 1/3 water. Both good taste and consistency but in the end you have to try what suits your tastebuds best.

Carbs and fats
The amount of calories matters. Get your required grams of protein in and then distribute your macros in a way that feels best to you.
