  1. Here's the deal guys, I'm hoping those who have had fills can tell me if this is normal.

I got my first fill on Friday (used floro). My band is an iname 9.75, I think it holds 5 cc's if I remember correctly. She put in 1.5 cc's. I watched the restriction adjustment on the screen it was very cool. The Fluid went through pretty good it looked like.

The next day I made the mistake of trying to eat a little well chewed chili. I could not hold it down. Man the pressure in my chest was SO bad I thought I was going to die, finally I made a run for the sink and up it came. This is the first time I have thrown up since I had the surgery. Its been 4 days since the fill and I have really struggled keeping stuff down. I eat VERY slow and I chew chew chew. I am also noticing that my mouth waters a lot after I swallow, is this what people call "sliming"?

All I am eating is yogurt, apple sauce, Soup and Protein Drinks. I am thinking this will settle after a few more days but I wanted to get some feedback from those of you who have more experience with this.

    Thank you.

  2. And sorry about the TOM thing-----I just had no way to know--y'alls posts don't have a pop up tallywhacker anywhere in sight!!

lol. Maybe the guys on this site should have little tallywhackers that pop up when we post, that way the gals will know. On second thought, I don't want a little one...

  3. I have had problem peeing after surgeries too, my plumbing is the outside variety (boy parts) so they had to do a cathider, YIKES, those hurt going in!! The nurse reminded me of Kathy Bates in the movie, Misery. I started calling her Iron Paws after that, I'd cover up whenever she came in the room, the women was a man hater and she took out her hatred on my little friend.

  4. I guess I'll keep it in for now but won't have any fills for now.

Good decision. If you never fill it it wont really be like you have one at all, then if you ever decide to use it you can get a few fills and see if you like that. Once you see what a great tool it can be and how easy they are to have you will be glad you have it. Just takes time. The way you felt in the beginning is probably more common than most realize.

  5. Yesterday was my one month anniversary. So far this whole thing has been a huge success. The surgery was easy, I survived the two week liquid stage (this was by far the hardest part for me!) and the mushies stage was absolutely painless, in fact the mushies stage was enjoyable, there's lots of good mushies foods to eat.

I started out at about 260 pounds, I got on the scale yesterday and I'm at 235 pounds. 25 pounds in 30 days, I would not have thought it possible but I'm thrilled this is working so good so far and how easy this whole thing has been.

I've not had a glass of wine since before the surgery so last night I celebrated my first months weight loss with a glass of red wine. I also began my transition to solid foods with some chicken my wife baked in the oven. The solid food switch was no problem at all and unlike before the surgery I was able to eat just one portion and felt full and satisfied.

I think that's the biggest thing I notice is that I don't feel hungry all the time now. Before I could really put away a lot of food, now I feel full after eating a pretty small serving. I'm also happy that at 4 weeks I still have some restriction, not as much as earlier but I can still definitely feel it.

My first fill (floro) is scheduled for April 4th, I hope to be down to 232 maybe even 230 by then. If the pounds keep coming of like they have so far I might just make it.

  6. Keep us posted Yaz. I'm hoping your Doc will move you to mushies asap, I think eating again will help you. In an earlier post I said I was 3 1/2 weeks past surgery, looking at the calender I am only 3 week past surgery. Once you get to mushies things get very easy. We will all be waiting for Tuesday to see what doctor says and to see if your spirits are better by then. Keep your chin up.

  7. I want to go in the winter and see the northern lights.

I go out on the snow machine a lot and when I do I will generally see the northern lights. One time we were coming out of Walmart in Anchorage and I looked up and there they were big as life, those were the best I have ever seen. Kinda funny it was right in town.

  8. Leather, I'm jealous of you too! My grandfather had the privilege of visiting every state in the U.S. and he told me Montana was the most beautiful by far. Because of what he said I got it in my head when I was little that I wanted to move to Montana and be a rancher. :) I've never even been on a horse! :confused2:

Alaska is nice but I'm with your grandpa, I think Montana is the best, I really really love it there. And as for horses go, don't even bring that up, I SO miss riding when I am up here in Alaska working:sad:. Too cold for horses where I work so I can only do that when I'm home. Luckily I do spend a lot of time in Montana and when Im there I ride every day.

Now that you guys know I'm a HS teacher don't judge me for my spelling. :)

  9. Leather:

how long have you been banded? I see you just joined the forum in January, me too. I was banded Oct/07 (Halloween). I love my band. I've lost 35 lbs.

I was banded on February 14th. I'm starting to love my band too, its not doing all the work for me but it sure is helping me manage my eating better. Im still new at it but so far this is great! :)

  10. I love Alaska. It's my favorite place in the world. Been there twice on business and am always awed by the beauty there. What do you do for work Leather?

I'm a high school teacher. What part of Alaska did you visit? You should bring family (or friends) up and go down to Homer and go out Halibut fishing, its pretty cheap to do and lots of fun. Plus fish is good for us bandsters. :)

  11. 2. In the last 48 hours I have eaten a whole baked potato, skin and all. Two Pintos and cheese from Taco Bell and a chalupa. Yes, SHELL AND ALL!!! God help me I didn't even feel stretched or bloated or anything. I'M SUPPOSED TO STILL BE ON LIQUIDS UNTIL THE ELEVENTH!!!!!:bored::rolleyes:

You are a bad bad girl. Brave too. :mad2:

The night before my surgery I went out and ate Italian and drank the whole bottle of wine. :mad2:
