  1. I would tell her you weren't going to continue being treated poorly and would find another Program. I would then file a complaint against her with the practice or hospital. It's not for her to research and decide. That's why we get psych clearance. Medicare will have your diagnostic history so she should submit the correct info and work to get it approved - not look for reasons why you shouldn't be approved.

Thank you. I usually don't take things personally but this one got me. I'll call today and tell her...something. I'm just nervous I guess. She could mess things up for me if she tried.

  2. I've searched the past posts but this isn't something I have found. I am finally to the approval process but the Surgeons nurse is not helpful. Matter of fact she's very negative and dismissive. I do see a therapist and Psychiatrist so because of my mental diagnosis she (the nurse) has decided I won't get approved by Medicare. My Psychiatrist wrote an approval letter and listed my diagnosis with Depression, Acute Anxiety disorder and Disassociate Identity Disorder and he is very supportive and says losing weight will be helpful with Depression. She rejected the first two evaluations he sent and today he sent a third that had everything she needed but when she called me today she said she is going to have to research DID but it's not likely I'd be approved. I know that he took the diagnosis of DID off the evaluation because it was causing issues and when she and I spoke I tried to tell her that people with PTSD get approved all the time according to research I've done her response was " So you have PTSD too?". So, now what? I want to just change surgeons but not cause any attitude. People change Dr's all the time right? She shouldn't care right? As long as I'm nice and just say something like it's not a good time to go ahead and I'll get back with her if I decide to proceed with the surgery. I have approval from my PCP and Psychiatrist so why so much drama?

  3. I also have Factor V and a pulmonary embolism. The surgeon at the seminar last week answered some of these questions for me. An ivc filter is likely for me and he said he'd probably change the warfrin that I take to something else for at least a month after surgery. I still don't know if he'll approve my surgery because of what I have mentioned and I also have COPD emphysema and diabetes. I'm hopeful still that I'll be approved. I do worry though.

  4. My insurance requires 3/6 month supervised diet. My Dr put me on diet pills a little over a month ago and I have lost 21 lbs as of the 24th of Feb. I am changing my eating habits because I have to for surgery and I just found out I'm diabetic, but is that a problem that I am doing well on my new low carb diet? If I continue to lose weight like 10-20 lbs a month am I disqualified? I'm able to because of the diet pills. I can't stay on them forever. What should I do? What would you do?

  5. Wow, not long. I've known for about two years now. My brother had a heart attack and called me to have it checked. I was never able to get pregnant and my gynecologist told me that ,that is probably why. I adopted my daughter and wouldn't change my life for anything. Love my baby girl.

  6. I'm taking it now. Three weeks ago my PCP put me on it for the DR. supervised diet. I keep a headache pretty much all the time. I haven't weighted but I have lost some according to my jeans. If I forget to take it in the morning I'm starving by dinner. It's not a long term solution for sure. I won't be taking it much longer. My Dr appointment is Feb 24th and I doubt I will be on it after that. Hopefully you have better luck and results.

  7. Since it's basically up to each individual on how much weight you lose I'm trying not to stress, but according to the the calculation for bypass I should lose 111 lbs. I am 5 9 315 lbs. That would put me around 180-190 lbs. My ideal weight for good BMI is 125-169 lbs. For the sleeve and lap band are even less weight loss. What the heck?

  8. Sorry I put AC1 instead of A1C like I said, I don't know much. I just didn't consider I might have diabetes. I don't get sick when I eat sweets. I always have had problems with low sugar. If I exercise or don't eat on occasion I've gotten really sick, sweating, weak and passing out. Then I'd eat something sweet or drink juice and I'd feel better but usually down for several hours after. I have one brother that was the same way and then I have my Mom and one sister that were/are diabetic. Another good reason to have WLS. Thank you for the information.

  9. A1C Hey everyone, I applied for life insurance a couple weeks ago. After fasting overnight the med tech came to my home and took blood for the application. Today I got a phone call telling me that I was denied because my AC1 was 7.4 and it should be 4-5 ? I looked online and it sounds like I could be diabetic. Can someone tell me more? Thank you

  10. Are you tracking your calories with an app or pen and paper? I am still waiting on approval but I have started keeping track of EVERYTHING I eat and it helps me make better choices. I have always been a night Binger. I take Serequel and I think it may have something to do with it but if all else fails I just go to bed. Good luck, you can do this!
