    Back at it again.

@@ava32 I have struggled all of my life as well. But they say time will fly. So hopefully it does. I also think about how 6 months is shorter than the 12 months that my sister had to do 5 years ago for her WLS.

@@ava32 I don't have any tips however I am just trying to remain positive with faith. Also knowing that at the end of the 6 months you will get the Best Gift/ Prize ever BETTER HEALTH (a 2nd Chance at life). That's pretty much how I am looking at it because with Better health comes Longevity. Blessings

    IBS and GERD

Thank you for the info. I can't wait for the day to Not have any Issues. I was told by a few that it depends on how bad your GERD is. However lately I was told NO Sleeve because of It. So RNY it will be for me!

    Back at it again.

I have a question regarding the 6 months. Does the doctor make you complete a full 6 months like to date or is it just in the 6th month? Like for me will they say 1/21-7/21 or is it 180days? I'm a little confused
  11. I was wondering the same thing.

    GB questions

My sister had a drain after RNY and she said it didn't hurt when they took it. She does have lose skin but it's not really bad.
  13. At my consultation I told the PA what I had already done over the last 18 years and she said ok well you still need to complete the 6month medically supervised weightloss program. I'm thinking that maybe she will submit all of this to insurance.
  14. Oh man that sounds very scary. I'm glad you were able to get it resolved. Blessings

    African American vsgers!

Hello I am new.. 1/21 Consultation 2/18 will be my 1st appointment with NUT. I have to complete a 6 month medically supervised weightloss program with the Bariatric Center. This includes testing 3 NUT appointments, Monthly weigh ins, Psych Evaluation, PCP approval Letter. I'm Nervous as ever. I'm 5'1 so they say and My Highest Weight 249 when I actually wasn't afraid to step on the scale. At Consultation 243. They also have me doing a 3 month Physical Therapy routine as well. I'm Nervous about everything and I need this surgery. I need to be healthy for my kids. I want to climb stairs like most people and not be winded. I want to be able to stand without my feet falling asleep. I want to squat down with my baby and actually be able to play. I want to Live a long Healthy Life. I understand this Journey is a life long commitment and I am Ready. I went for Consultation 5 years ago but I didn't like the way they treated me and I felt it was a sign to continue trying to lose on my own. Well here we are my weight has gone up and down, lose a little gain a lot.

    Protein question

I'm so happy that someone asked this question as I wondered the same thing. I have not been to the NUT yet however I was afraid of any BBQ sauce after I saw how it affected my sister. She is 5 years post op RNY and she tried some of her husband's sauce he ordered. Within 30 minutes she had taken most of her clothes off (in the Mall) and she was Sweating So Bad. I was Completely Scared!
  17. I was told that if I gained any weight during this 6 month supervised weight loss program that they would kick me out. This has me super nervous. Like to the point where I am constantly getting on the scale.
  18. I am so sorry you have to go through this.. I pray for a speedy recovery. I pray that he will wake up one day and admit that he was wrong and start to treat you like the Queen you are No Matter how your health or weight affect the way you look. Blessings

CONGRATS!!!! This is an Exciting Moment in your Journey. As everyone said Yes Do Something Special. I send Blessing for a wonderful surgery and easy recovery. This is the Best $18 you will ever spend.
  22. I have only told my mom, my 18yr old daughter, my sister who had Gastric Bypass 5 years ago and my friend who forced me to go to the seminar. I don't plan on telling anyone else because I don't need the Negativity!!! People who are Not in your shoes always say Diet and Exercise but it's obvious that we Need Extra Help from the WLS.. They don't know what it is like being overweight 100+ pounds. They will Never understand your daily struggles. Also people like to tell you the Horror Stories about what they heard happened to someone else. This is Just To Scare You. That's Not something that we need. So I'm keeping my list of people Very Short!

    Prayers coming your way
  24. I am a mom of 2 who has struggled with weight all of my life. I was always the heavy kid, too fat for the other kids to sit next too. People around me always made sure that I was aware how heavy I was. So by the time I hit my teens I started starving myself to fit in. I have tried so many things to help.. Lemonade diet, Atkins, Juicing, Smoothies, Veggies & Fruits only, Detox Water, Garcinia Cambogia, SlimQuick, Dieters Tea, Green Tea Capsules, Phentermine, Metabolife,Hydroxycut, low Carb High Fat,Very Low Calorie Diet, of course Exercise and more. I will sometimes lose a little and gain a lot back or lose nothing. I do have health issues such has GERD, joint issues, Chronic Pain, migraines and more. I am 5'1 (so they say) and at my consultation 1/21 my weight 243.12. Everyday is a struggle and some days are worse than others. I live in Rochester, NY and a friend forced me to go to a seminar with her to RGH. I shared with her my need to No Longer Struggle and Be Overweight. I would like to walk a flight of stairs without losing my breath. I notice that I feel like I'm always angry because I'm just so unhappy with my weight and inability to do things. I want to see my feet again and not just my stomach. I would like to play with my 7 year old and not stop a bunch of times to catch my breath. Sometimes I feel like I'm going to pass out when playing with him so I try to limit it. I would love to not have to park in the Handicap spot while feeling secure that my hips and knees won't give out because I'm so heavy. Overall I want to be a Healthier, Energetic, Happier mom who can give as much time to my children as they want for play. I want to be here for my kids, to see them graduate and become adults and more. I understand with having Bariatric surgery it is Not A Quick Fix but it will overall help me in the Future. I do have Medicare as my primary and Medicaid as my secondary insurance. I was told that I have to complete a 6 month supervised program with the Bariatric office that I went to for consultation. This consists of 3 Nutrition visits, psych evaluation, monthly weigh ins, a letter from PCP, labs and more. I am up for the challenge as this will help me in the Long Run!!! Sorry so long
