Which Food Did (Or Will) You Miss the Most?

Warm bread and butter. I can still eat chocolate and all the no-no's but I m scared of dumping and at the end of the day is me that made the decision to have this op knowing fully well what it involves. I had chips but only 2,3 maximum.

    Pain when having food

Is ok. 4 days out couldn't eat anything. Just take it easy. Good luck to you!

    Crackers

Maj live on meaty mighty shakes. Carbs are like a plague. You've read it yourself. I m 9 weeks out and I eat crackers every day. Is the only carb that I can handle. Cream crackers from Jacobs.

    Confessions of overeating...

I ve changed animal protein to vegetal ones. I can't eat chicken anymore or pork or turkey. It hurts too much and I don't like the taste anymore. I eat instead cottage cheese, peanut butter, alpro yogurt, greek yogurt, tofu, black beans, lentils, eggs, milk. I feel is time to become a vegetarian.

Cheated on pre op diet :(

Is ok. We all do it sometimes. But you have to think if this is what you really want. The pre op is a hard thing but remember post op is even harder. Good luck, you've done so well so far you can take this further!
  6. I don't have any set goals for anything, this is not a race is a lifetime journey. Whatever my stomac is telling me this is what I do. I can't eat that much protein a day or at least not yet. I eat what I am comfortable with, what doesn't hurt me. Tolerance varies from day to day. When I saw my specialist nurse two weeks ago she's asked me if I can eat 8 table spoons of food in one sit. I can't, I can do 6 and she said is fine. Everything takes time.
  7. Vicksta, you will find that in the uk the doctors will want you to rely more on natural food and not shakes or other vitamins. They use a different approach, in my opinion a healthier one. I had the bypass 8 weeks ago and I am almost 3 stones down.
  8. Some trusts do that. As soon you'll see the dietician the ball will start rolling...
  9. Hi!I had my procedure at St. George's hospital in London on the 14.05.16. The whole process took just over one year but that is because I had to rebook couple of my appointments. Ur Monday appt is it with a dietitian or with the surgeon?

When can I eat potatoes, pasta, etc.,?

Weight loss doesn't happen only in the first 6 months. It happens over a period of 18-24 months until your body adjusts to the new way of eating. I personally believe that if u stop eating carbs completely for like let's say 6 months when you will eventually start eating them again the weight will slow down or even worse it will come back on. The purpose of this surgery is to teach you healthy eating habits. A diet with no carbs whatsoever it can never be successful. Carbs are the one giving us energy, u don't have to eat the bad ones, pick the healthy carbs. I am 7 weeks out and I can eat cream crackers(3 biscuits) and pasta -sometimes and not more than 4 teaspoons. As soon as you go trough the stages, you will be able to eat different things. I can't eat bread and I don't fancy it but I did had 1/4 of jacket potato with cheese and baked beans. The aim is to be able to eat healthy food and don't rely on shakes and all sorts of supplements. This will take time, of course and remember we are all different so never compare yourself to others.
  11. I m afraid you can't have surgery anymore. No dr that I know would do that to you.

    Constipation

Veggies, soup, hot tea, fybogel, miralax but as my dr said is not a good idea on long term to rely on them. I had my surgery on the 14.05 and I have been constipated once and that's because I had cheddar. Good luck. Hope you feel better soon.

    39 lbs

37 days out, 27 pounds off. Bad or good, we are all different so we will all loose differently. Quick or slow and steady don't compare urself to others. Good luck

    Regrets?

I lost 26 pounds in the first 30 days after my op. I m almost 5 weeks out. I still can't eat much but I feel so much better. As for being afraid I think we all are before surgery. Regrets, none. So far. Good luck!
  15. My consulatant on the day of the op told me this: we are doing rny if your liver has shrunk enough for me to work around it, if not I will do you a sleeve coz is less complicated and if none of the above work I will place a gastric baloon and we will pick it up from there. On my op day I was 308 pounds ans I m 5.10. Let ur surgeon decide what's best.

    Headaches?

Ur not drinking enough water, maybe.

    Hard Boiled Eggs

Poach them. Add a little bit of vinegar it the water before putting the eggs in. As soon as the water starts to boil reduce the heat and voila best poached eggs ever! Dry them on a paper towel and enjoy!

    Can I eat this?

I have carbs on my menu. My nut says I can have it: pureed rice, pureed pasta but I choose not to just because only the thought of pureed rice/pasta makes me sick. Moderation is the key not avoiding completely carbs. Think about it if you don't eat it for 6-8 months when you gonna start eating the carbs again the weight will pile back on with vengeance. As I said before I believe you can be successful if you stick to the natural stuff and ditch all the other stuff that brought you here in the first place. As for crackers, it might be a bit too early.
  19. I had it done in Cheam-Surrey:) how are you feeling?
  20. Hi! I m in London and I had my op on the 14.05.
  21. 2oz is more than enough. I m 4 weeks out and I can't handle 4oz. A table spoon 1/2 of pureed food max, 1/2 weetabix and 1 1/2 litres of water. Take it easy. Is not all about protein shakes and vitamins. I know some people ramble around here about this all the time but at the end of the day we are all different. Listen to your body and good luck!
  22. Hamburger maybe is not yet such a good idea. Minced meat doesn't agree with me either. Try cod in parsley sauce, tinned sardines/tuna/mackerel in tomato sauce, humus. Keep it plain. Good luck
  23. Same here. I flavour mine with everything I can: strawberries, cucumber, lemon, lime, mint everything.
  24. I was bang on my 3rd day of my period when I had my op. I ve told them, one of the hca was pulling straight faces but after straight away the nurse behind her came and said I shouldn't worry. They were adamant that I need to do a pregnancy test and I had to which it was kind of weird. They gave me paper pants, I have put a pad on and that was it. Don't worry about it, it will be fine.

    Puréed diet after surgery..Help!

Same here, addouk. Had my gastric bypass on the 14.05 pureed stage as well. I made some carrot+celeriac puree and some chicken casserole but I didn't managed to eat more than a spoon. Today I was dying to eat an egg so I have poached one and I ve only had the soft yolk. I miss eating with my teeth and I have no interest in food whatsoever.
